With just a phrase, "For my wife," Mo Ming turned Y Country upside down. Such audacity is not something everyone can muster. However, Mo Ming was willing to disregard the consequences, stirring up the stable situation in Y Country like a madman. Even when faced with dire circumstances multiple times, he remained unrepentant.
For this, Reed and Abraham were left speechless.
To others, it might seem insane to create such a commotion for a wife, but to Mo Ming, everything done for her was worthwhile. For the one he loved, even if it meant bloodshed, Mo Ming wouldn't bat an eye!
"Uh, surprised?"
Mo Ming's expression remained calm.
"Well, I am indeed surprised. Is it worth it to go to such lengths for someone you love?" Reed smiled slightly.
"Absolutely. Anything done for a loved one is worth it."
Mo Ming took out a cigarette case and asked, "Do you want to smoke?"
"No, thanks."
"Then you don't mind if I do?" Mo Ming asked with a smile.
"I don't mind."
With Reed and Abraham's permission, Mo Ming lit a cigarette.
"Shura, you really are full of surprises," Reed said with a wry smile and shook his head. "If it were me, I probably wouldn't have the same resolve."
"You can do it." Mo Ming let out a long breath and smiled lightly, "Last time, for Edith, you didn't let me go? That shows that Edith is quite important to you. If you were in my position, you would definitely do the same."
"Maybe."
Reed was not very sure. After thinking for a moment, he sighed and said, "Perhaps I'm getting old and not as impulsive anymore. I tend to prioritize family interests. Sometimes, when I have to choose between family ties and the family itself, I would more often choose the family. After all, I don't want to see the family that my ancestors have built for so long fall apart because of me."
"Is the family business really that important?" Mo Ming disagreed, a hint of mockery at the corner of his mouth. "I think familial bonds are what truly matter. If a person loses their family ties, isn't living in this world just suffering?"
Reed smiled bitterly and said, "In this world, there are too many responsibilities. Many things often happen beyond our control."
"Excuse me, may I interrupt? Is it time to serve the dishes?" An old man with a hooked nose walked in and asked Mo Ming.
"Yes, it's time. Please serve the dishes," Mo Ming nodded.
Soon, the prepared dishes were brought to the table one after another.
"The dishes are served. Please enjoy," the old man with the hooked nose was the last to exit the room.
"Leader Reed, General Abraham, these are the dishes I've prepared for you. If you don't like them, I can ask the kitchen to redo them."
"These dishes look so delicious; there's no need to trouble the kitchen again," Abraham said with a smile.
"With food on the table, we can relax! Let's eat, drink, and talk!" Reed laughed heartily, raising his glass to Mo Ming and Abraham. "Without further ado, let's have a few drinks to warm our stomachs!"
"Alright, let's have a drink."
"Sure!"
Mo Ming and Abraham raised their glasses, clinking them together with a satisfying sound before downing their drinks.
"Brother Shura, now that our conflicts have been resolved, I wonder if you could release my son and daughter?" Reed set down his glass and asked calmly.
At that moment, the Lion arrived with Rossi in tow.
Mo Ming laughed and said, "Look, here they are! Safe and sound. Leader Reed can check for himself."
Rossi appeared somewhat haggard but was dressed neatly. Mo Ming had not mistreated him; it was just that Rossi was used to a life of luxury and suddenly being someone else's captive made him uncomfortable. He had been gloomy every day, which contributed to his worn-out appearance.
When Rossi saw Reed, his face lit up with excitement as he hurried over. "Father, I knew you would come to rescue me..."
Suddenly recalling how Mo Ming had imprisoned him, Rossi felt a twinge of resentment. He glared at Mo Ming and pointed at him, saying, "Father, you must teach this arrogant guy a lesson. If it weren't for him, I wouldn't have had to suffer so much."
"Hey, you little brat really knows how to bite back. Is it because I didn't torture you enough that you're feeling particularly uncomfortable?" The Lion was displeased upon hearing this and glared at Rossi, causing him to shrink back in fear.
"Lion, don't get worked up. There's nothing to be angry about; arguing is pointless," Mo Ming said with a slight smile.
Seeing Rossi's haggard appearance for the first time made Reed somewhat unhappy. However, after hearing Mo Ming's words and taking a closer look, he noticed that aside from looking worn out, Rossi had no other visible injuries, which eased his displeasure.
"Rossi, have they tormented you?" Reed asked with a furrowed brow and an authoritative tone.
“Father…”
Reed said in a low voice, “I ask you, did they torment you?”
“No…” Rossi was confused as to why Reed favored outsiders, but he was startled inside.
“Hmph, since they didn’t, what suffering did you endure?” Reed’s voice turned cold as he said, “When the two sides fell out, your kidnapping was due to your own incompetence; you can’t blame others. Moreover, Brother Shura has already shown mercy by not mistreating you. This matter ends here!”
“Yes, Father,” Rossi replied dejectedly.
“Rossi, you are the future successor of the Frank Family. I do not want you to be so useless, Understood?” Reed’s voice carried more authority as he continued, “From now on, you cannot be so cynical. You need to learn some real skills; otherwise, even if I am willing to hand over the position to you, the clan will not accept you.”
“Father, I understand,” Rossi lowered his head. He sensed that Reed was somewhat displeased and immediately complied like a sheep, not daring to argue further.
Reed ignored Rossi and smiled at Mo Ming, saying, “Hehe, Brother Shura, back when I captured you, you also captured my son. Now that everyone is at peace, we’re even. I hope we can forget the unpleasantness of the past and not engage in conflicts anymore.”
“Of course. I have no intention of opposing you. Now that matters have been settled, there’s no need to bring up past events,” Mo Ming nodded.
“By the way, Brother Shura, where is my daughter Edith?” Reed asked. “I haven’t seen her in a long time and want to know how she is doing.”
“Don’t worry, Leader Reed. I absolutely did not mistreat Miss Edith. During this time, I have treated her like a princess,” Mo Ming chuckled a few times and added, “However, Edith is not here right now.”
“Oh?” Reed asked in confusion. “Where could she possibly be?”
“Ahem, it’s like this. Last night, Edith insisted on going to the branch of the Dragon Soul Gang. I couldn’t stop her…”
Mo Ming smirked, which made the Lion laugh as well. If Reed knew that his daughter had fallen in love with a man several years older than her, and that this man was the next leader of the Dragon Soul Gang, he would probably go crazy.
"What on earth is happening?" Reed and Abraham were both puzzled and wanted to take a look.
"This matter is best explained by the person involved, so I won't say much more. When you see her later, Leader Reed, you can ask her yourself," Mo Ming chuckled awkwardly and said to the Lion beside him, "Go have Brother Ye bring Loli over. A daughter-in-law must meet her in-laws, after all. Besides, Brother Ye isn't ugly, right?"
The Lion understood and wore a mischievous grin as he turned to leave to notify Night Peak.
"Leader Reed, General Abraham, don't just stand there in a daze. Whatever doubts you have will be clear soon enough. Let's eat while we wait," Mo Ming said, unsure of what else to say at the moment, and began pouring drinks for Reed and Abraham.
Seeing that Mo Ming wouldn't elaborate further, Reed and Abraham stopped asking questions.
After a while, the Lion returned.
"Boss, Evil Ghost has arrived."
Night Peak and Edith walked in together.
When Reed saw Edith laughing and chatting while holding Night Peak's arm, his eyes nearly popped out of his head.
"Edith, what is this?"
Edith noticed Reed sitting there and joyfully ran over. "Father, you're here!"
"Um..." Reed felt a bit frustrated as he looked at Night Peak several times before asking, "Edith, who is that?"
"Hehe..." Edith forcibly pulled Night Peak over and said, "My future boyfriend, Night Peak!"
"What?" Reed's brows furrowed tightly. "Stop joking around and tell your father the truth. You're kidding, right?"
Night Peak shook his head with a wry smile and said, "Yes, she's joking."
"Who’s joking!" Edith frowned in dissatisfaction and said seriously, "Father, I’m determined to have this boyfriend! If you don’t agree, I won’t go back."
"You really want to drive me crazy. How old are you?" Reed said angrily. "This is absolutely impossible, Edith. Stop messing around and go back with your father to focus on your studies. You’re so young; do you even understand what love is?"
"Hmph, I'm not going back! If it weren't for Brother Ye saving me, you wouldn't even see me!" Edith insisted.
Reed felt a headache coming on.
Rossi spoke up to advise, "Sister, you're still young. Don’t let them deceive you; they have ulterior motives!"
"Hey, I say you're quite the troublemaker."
The Lion was about to teach Rossi a lesson when Mo Ming intervened.
"Enough, Lion. Don't meddle." Mo Ming smiled at Reed and said, "Leader Reed, I think Edith has the right to choose her own happiness. Besides, my brother is not a bad person. If Edith marries him, I can guarantee it will be much better than marrying some noble son."
"Brother Mo Ming, are you selling your sister?" Night Peak shook his head in frustration and said to Reed, "I'm sorry, Leader Reed. You can consider this as a joke from Edith and not take it seriously. I don’t have those feelings for Edith; I hope you can understand."
Actually, Reed is not being stubborn; he doesn't care about the age difference between Night Peak and Edith. He just doesn't want his most beloved daughter to marry the wrong person. Now that Night Peak has said he has no romantic feelings for Edith, Reed is even less inclined to agree.
"Alright, I can take that as a joke," Reed nodded and said to Edith, "Daughter, you should have heard him; he has no romantic feelings for you. Stop messing around and come back with me to focus on your studies!"
Edith firmly replied, "I won't go back!"
"Hmph, you have no say in this!" Reed snorted coldly and said to Rossi, "You take your sister back and keep an eye on her!"
"Okay." Rossi forcibly pulled Edith toward the door.
"I don't want to!" Edith insisted.
"Forget it, Leader Reed. I see she doesn't want to go back. Forcing her won't help; she's grown up now. Let things happen naturally, and don't interfere too much," Abraham, who had been silent for a while, chuckled. "You should know that the more you try to control her, the less you can manage. This place is very safe; letting her stay here is fine."
