"Let me share my thoughts. We don't need many people, but we must choose the best among them for special training to cultivate a group of remarkably powerful members. The rest can serve as cannon fodder," Mo Ming said calmly. "Also, the industry is our source of discovery; we cannot remain stagnant. We must find ways to improve, but one thing to note is to avoid illegal activities as much as possible."
Night Peak nodded and replied, "I was just thinking the same thing. I intended to bring it up with you, but it seems we are on the same page. Don't worry; I will handle this matter well."
"With Brother Ye handling it, I naturally feel at ease," Mo Ming said with a slight smile, extinguishing his cigarette and raising his glass. "Now, let's continue drinking."
Meanwhile, in another seemingly ordinary seaside community, which appeared plain but was actually fraught with danger, it stood as a fortress so solid that even a mosquito entering would likely be shot down.
The surroundings seemed empty, with no one seen walking about for a long time. However, upon closer inspection, one could notice several hidden sentries spaced out at intervals.
On the rooftops of each high-rise building were snipers, and there were several machine gunners on various floors. Such an arrangement was not typical for an ordinary wealthy neighborhood.
Inside a central building, Miyu knelt facing a middle-aged man who was none other than Yamada Ikko, the leader of the Heavenly Ninja Group.
Miyu lowered her head heavily and said with guilt, "I'm sorry, Father. I let Shura escape; please punish me."
If Mo Ming were to hear this, he would be utterly shocked. Miyu referred to him as Father, which meant that Yamada Ikko was actually Gong Gao Yi—a Japanese!
Mo Ming would never have guessed Gong Gao Yi's Japanese identity because even Murong Wei was unaware that the enemy he yearned to kill day and night was indeed Japanese.
Yamada Ikko remained expressionless as he poured hot water over a purple clay teapot and then poured out brewed fine tea into a small cup. Ignoring the heat of the tea, he took a careful sip.
Setting down the teacup, Yamada Ikko slowly said, "Miyu, lift your head."
"Yes, Father," Miyu replied as she raised her head and looked timidly at Yamada Ikko, seemingly intimidated by him.
"Slap."
Yamada Ikko's gaze suddenly turned cold as he struck Miyu sharply across the face, knocking her to the ground.
Miyu let out a muffled sound, covering her immediately swollen cheek, looking at Yamada Ikko with grievance, but did not dare to say a word.
She had gone against Yamada Ikko's wishes by not killing Mo Ming and instead allowing him to escape. Most importantly, she had revealed all the plans of the Heavenly Ninja Group.
Even if Yamada Ikko killed her, it would not be unjustified, let alone just a slap.
"Ridiculous, truly ridiculous. I don't care how you play around on ordinary days, but when facing such a terrifying enemy as Shura, we should have eliminated him early. You shouldn't have spared him, nor should you have disclosed our matters to him!" Yamada Ikko's expression was cold.
Miyu trembled all over and stammered, "Father, I know I was wrong."
"Hmph, knowing you're wrong means nothing. Our plans have already been exposed. If Shura informs Reed, our situation will become extremely dangerous." Yamada Ikko said in a deep voice, "Reed is a ruthless person. If he learns the ins and outs of this matter and allies with Shura, our Heavenly Ninja Group will fall into endless flight."
"Father, it was all caused by me; I am willing to die to atone for my mistakes," Miyu hurriedly said.
Daring to offer her life as atonement yet fearing Yamada Ikko showed just how terrified Miyu was of his torturous methods.
Seeing that Yamada Ikko remained silent, a glimmer of despair flashed in Miyu's eyes. She immediately stood up, walked aside, drew her katana, and prepared to take her own life as atonement.
"Enough. At this point, killing you serves no purpose. I hope you can kill Reed to make up for your mistakes." Yamada Ikko moved swiftly and appeared beside Miyu, firmly grasping her hand.
"Thank you, Father. Miyu is your adopted daughter; no matter what you ask me to do, I will do it," Miyu said tearfully.
"I know. Otherwise, considering the many things you've done for me, even if I tortured you for several lifetimes, it would be hard to quell the anger in my heart over your mistakes."
Yamada Ikko released Miyu's hand and knelt back down to his original position, saying lightly, "Resolve this quickly to avoid prolonged troubles!"
"Yes," Miyu nodded heavily.
Yamada Ikko closed his eyes and waved his hand, saying, "Alright, you can leave now. I want to be alone."
Miyu dared not linger and slowly left the room.
"Hmph, you're more of a hindrance than a help. If you had any value left, I wouldn't keep you around," Yamada Ikko said, his eyes filled with killing intent. In an instant, he crushed the teacup, scalding tea splashing onto his hand without him reacting at all.
"Shura, consider yourself lucky. But don't get too proud; you'd better pray you don't fall into my hands. Otherwise, I will make you regret ever stepping into this world."
After leaving Yamada Ikko's room, Miyu paused a few steps outside the house, thought for a moment, and then continued walking.
She arrived in front of another house.
"Stop hiding and come out," Miyu turned around and called out, " Shizuka Domoto, your tracking skills are really terrible; this job isn't suited for you."
Shizuka Domoto walked out from a corner of the house with a wry smile and said, "Indeed, I'm not cut out for this job."
When he saw the bright red handprint on Miyu's face, Shizuka Domoto's expression turned grave.
"He hit you again?"
It was clear from Shizuka Domoto's simple question that it was filled with anger and killing intent.
Miyu hurriedly covered her cheek and shook her head, saying, "No, don't ask about it."
"Did he torment you again?" Shizuka Domoto forcefully moved Miyu's hand away and gently touched the bright red handprint.
"Let go!" Miyu snapped back to reality and quickly stepped back. "It's none of your business. I hope you won't meddle in my affairs; just focus on your own."
After saying that, Miyu tried to turn and leave.
Shizuka Domoto quickly grabbed Miyu's hand, pulling her back forcefully and ignoring Miyu's resistance as he kissed her lips.
Miyu struggled for a moment before pushing Shizuka Domoto away.
Miyu's lips were marked with a hint of red, while Shizuka Domoto's lips were stained with a large amount of red.
She bit Shizuka Domoto!
"Are you crazy!" Miyu shouted angrily. "Shizuka Domoto, you bastard, get lost! I don't want to see you!"
Miyu hurriedly turned to input the password to open the door, wanting to go inside and then close the door behind her.
"Yes, I'm crazy. Ever since I first saw you, I've been crazy!" Shizuka Domoto pressed his hand against the door.
"What do you want?"
"I just have something to say to you."
Miyu felt like she was about to break down. Not wanting to linger at the door with Shizuka Domoto any longer, she let go of her grip and walked toward the room.
"Say what you want to say, then leave quickly. I don't have time to waste with you."
Shizuka Domoto stepped in front of Miyu, staring intently into her eyes and said, "Miyu, come with me. This time you didn't follow his rules; he won't let you go."
As he spoke, Shizuka Domoto took hold of Miyu's hand and said, "I will take good care of you and will never let you suffer even a little..."
"Shizuka Domoto, let go of me!" Miyu struggled but couldn't break free. Angrily, she said, "I won't go with you. Even if he kills me, I can't leave. Without him, I wouldn't be alive right now. No matter how heartless he is to me, I can never abandon him."
"He's just using you as a tool!" Shizuka Domoto shouted.
As soon as Shizuka finished speaking, a sharp slap echoed in the air.
Miyu's raised hand trembled slightly, her face filled with shock and her heart in turmoil. She then forcefully dropped her hand.
"You hit me for that person?" Shizuka Domoto covered his aching cheek; the imprint of the slap felt like a knife, hurting not just his face but his heart.
"Just go. I want to be alone for a while," Miyu sighed, her expression becoming somewhat complicated.
"Haha..." Shizuka Domoto suddenly burst into mad laughter, tears forming at the corners of his eyes.
Miyu stared at Shizuka Domoto in confusion, not understanding what was happening.
"I never thought my sincerity would be less valuable than Yamada Ikko's insincerity. Miyu, I'm the only one in this world who truly cares for you. Do you even understand?" Shizuka Domoto laughed bitterly, his heart shattered into pieces.
"I don't understand! I don't understand! Can you just let me be quiet? Please stop talking; I don't want to hear it!" Miyu covered her ears with her hands, shaking her head desperately.
Seeing Miyu tormented by her inner conflict softened Shizuka Domoto's heart again. He walked over and gently grasped Miyu's wrist, saying softly, "Come with me. Let's leave this place together and let those people go to hell. I'll protect you; even if I die, I'll make sure you survive!"
"I want you to leave!" Miyu suddenly shook off Shizuka Domoto's hand and pointed to the door. "From now on, I don't want to see you again. Get out!"
Those words replayed in Shizuka Domoto's mind like a broken record, causing him immense pain.
"Do you really not want to see me again?" Shizuka Domoto asked with a glimmer of hope, wishing Miyu would say otherwise.
"I'm sorry, I don't want to see you again," Miyu said, her nose feeling sour. Just as tears were about to spill, she quickly looked up, trying hard to suppress her sobs, and added, "Just go, I don't want to see you anymore!"
"Alright, I'll go." Shizuka Domoto took a deep breath, his tone filled with helplessness. Looking at Miyu one last time, the pain in his heart deepened. Not wanting to linger for another moment, he quickly walked over, opened the door, and left.
Bang!!
Hearing the sound of the door closing, Miyu finally glanced towards it, feeling an inexplicable sense of loss as the tears she had been holding back streamed down her face.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, Shizuka Domoto. I know how good you are to me, but... even if my adoptive father treats me poorly, he is still my biological parent. Even if I die, I cannot abandon him..." Miyu clutched her chest in pain and collapsed onto the ground.
Yamada Ikko had picked her up from the trash and raised her to adulthood. It could be said that without Yamada Ikko, there would be no Miyu.
There were happy days once; those were carefree youthful years. Unfortunately, ever since coming to Country Y, everything changed. Yamada Ikko's identity transformed from Gong Gao Yi to the leader of the Heavenly Ninja Group, Yamada Ikko.
He began to abuse Miyu, forcing her to entertain people of various identities and marrying her off to Rossi, a man with whom she had no emotional connection, turning an innocent girl into a woman who was seen as available to all.
Now, everything about Miyu was thanks to Yamada Ikko; he brought her light but from hell.
However, after all, Yamada Ikko had saved her life. Even if it meant her own death, Miyu did not want to betray Yamada Ikko.
