Luo Zixing and Murong Lian squeezed into the crowd and found Mo Ming inside, along with Lin Yuan'er and Luoxiwei. Murong Lian walked over and asked in confusion, "Yuan'er, what are you all doing? I've been waiting for you over there for a long time, and you didn't answer my calls!"
"We ran into some trouble. It was too noisy just now, so we didn't hear," Lin Yuan'er said as she took out her phone and saw that there were indeed two missed calls from Murong Lian.
Upon hearing this, Luo Zixing couldn't help but roll her eyes at Mo Ming. "Mo Ming, trouble seems to follow you wherever you go. Care to explain what's going on? With so many people gathered here, what happened?"
Mo Ming shrugged and replied, "Officer Luo, that's not fair. It's not like I want to get into trouble. Are you going to blame Conan for wandering around and causing deaths in every episode?"
"Stop joking around and just tell me what happened!"
Luo Zixing's expression turned serious as she glanced at the Yellow-Haired Delinquent and quickly guessed that this was the person who had foolishly provoked Mo Ming.
"Alright, I'll be straightforward. This guy tried to scam me but failed. As a good citizen, I should hand over this pest to you for handling," Mo Ming said as he pushed the Yellow-Haired Delinquent forward. The thug attempted to escape, but Luo Zixing wouldn't let him go. She swiftly executed a takedown move and instinctively checked her back pocket, only to realize she had forgotten to bring handcuffs since it was a holiday.
"Where do you think you're going? I'm a police officer!" Luo Zixing said confidently. She easily subdued the Yellow-Haired Delinquent and added, "You better behave; if you keep moving around, I won't go easy on you!"
"Officer, I'm innocent! It was him!" the Yellow-Haired Delinquent pointed at Mo Ming and countered, "He used violence to force me to lie! I had no choice but to comply for my own safety. Officer, you're just in time; arrest him—he hit me!"
"Well, he's quite the talker," Mo Ming said with a slight smile before turning to Luo Zixing. "Officer Luo, do you believe his words or mine?"
Luo Zixing frowned at the situation. Seeing this, the Yellow-Haired Delinquent quickly added, "Officer, you have to believe me! He was driving under the influence; he definitely hit me because of alcohol! If you don't believe me, you can use a breathalyzer on him!"
The Yellow-Haired Delinquent had caught a whiff of alcohol on Mo Ming earlier and thought to use that detail to gain trust. If Mo Ming was confirmed to be driving under the influence, then no matter what he said—whether it was about scamming or hitting someone—he would still have the upper hand.
Exploiting legal loopholes was second nature for people like him; they would seize any opportunity to manipulate situations for financial gain.
"You’re talking nonsense! You admitted earlier that you were trying to scam someone! Besides, Brother Mo is not driving under the influence!" Lin Yuan'er interjected angrily in defense of Mo Ming.
Luo Zixing approached Mo Ming and sniffed him closely. Her brows furrowed deeply as she said, "Mo Ming, you really do smell strongly of alcohol. You’re not actually driving under the influence, are you?"
Mo Ming remained noncommittal and said, "Well, I don't understand. If I drank yesterday and after a nap I'm still considered drunk driving, I have nothing to say. Anyway, I have plenty of time today. Officer Luo, feel free to use the breathalyzer. At that point, the truth will be clear."
"Luo Zixing, I believe Mo Ming wouldn't falsely accuse someone. If he says that, it must be true; that guy is definitely trying to scam!"
Murong Lian believed that Mo Ming was innocent. If he had really hit someone, would Mo Ming not take him to the hospital? He wouldn’t hesitate to donate a hundred million dollars; would such a person refuse to pay for medical expenses?
"I also believe Mo Ming is innocent, but as a police officer, everything must be based on evidence. I can't show favoritism." Luo Zixing looked helplessly at Mo Ming and said, "I'm sorry, but I have to follow legal procedures. Please come back to the station with me; we will clear your name."
"I understand your predicament, so I won't make it difficult for you. People are watching; I'll go with you to the station." Mo Ming smiled lightly, showing no concern. Since Luo Zixing was not targeting him, there was no need for him to blame her.
"Alright, it's fine, Brother Mo. We know you're innocent. I'll accompany you to the station, and then we'll see how those bad guys try to turn things around!" Lin Yuan'er glared at Yellow-Haired Delinquent in disgust and huffed.
Upon hearing they were going back to the station, Yellow-Haired Delinquent was terrified. If Mo Ming had really been drinking, he wouldn’t be afraid; but seeing Mo Ming so calm as if there was no issue of drunk driving made him anxious.
Moreover, since Mo Ming had some connection with Luo Zixing, even if he did get charged with drunk driving, things could turn in his favor. That would truly be a disaster for him.
Thinking this way, Yellow-Haired Delinquent suddenly had an idea. Taking advantage of Luo Zixing's momentary distraction, he struggled fiercely and managed to break free, pushing past Luo Zixing and running away.
Mo Ming reacted quickly. Just as Yellow-Haired Delinquent had only taken a few steps, he rushed over and kicked him in the back, causing him to crash face-first into the ground.
At that moment, Luo Zixing rushed over and pinned Yellow-Haired Delinquent down hard, twisting his arm behind his back so he couldn't escape easily. "Oh? Now that you know your scheme has been exposed, you want to run?"
"Let me go! Hmph! I know you’re all in cahoots. No matter where you take me, you can say whatever you want; even if I'm innocent, you'll make me guilty!" Yellow-Haired Delinquent continued to argue.
"I don't care about your nonsense; let's just head to the police station and sort this out!" Luo Zixing pulled him up and said to Murong Lian, " Lian Lian, call the station and have them send someone over."
"Okay." Murong Lian replied and took out her phone to call the police station. She briefly explained the situation before hanging up after providing the location.
Before long, officers from the nearby station arrived. After a brief explanation from Luo Zixing, they didn’t ask many questions and directly took Yellow-Haired Delinquent away.
With the situation resolved, the onlookers began to disperse. A smile appeared on Lin Yuan'er's face as she said, "Alright! The trouble is finally sorted out! Brother Mo, if you have other matters to attend to, feel free to leave first. I'll go shopping with Sister Lian and the others."
Hearing Lin Yuan'er’s words, Mo Ming initially wanted to nod in response, but unexpectedly caught a glimpse of someone standing still amidst the crowd.
It was a British face, somewhat fierce, with sharp eyes that pierced directly at Mo Ming. The corners of his mouth slowly curled into a smug arc, and then he vanished into the sea of people.
"How could it be him!"
Mo Ming raised his eyebrows slightly, feeling a mix of surprise and disbelief. He was all too familiar with that face; however, it was strange that he was still alive. Wasn't he supposed to be dead?
"I definitely didn't see wrong just now; it was absolutely him. I can't believe he didn't die and even found his way here. What does he want?" Mo Ming confirmed in his mind that the person was indeed someone he knew well, but he had no idea why he was still alive.
Beside him, Lin Yuan'er and Murong Lian heard Mo Ming muttering softly and spoke in unison, "Who is he?"
"Nothing much, I must have been seeing things. It seemed like I saw an old acquaintance," Mo Ming said with a smile, shaking his head. "Alright, the matter has been resolved. Let's go; I have nothing else to do today, so I'll just help you carry your things for free!"
"Great! With you as our helper, we can shop without worry!" Lin Yuan'er chuckled, covering her mouth. "Let's go! Our first stop for our helper is the Baisheng Clothing City!"
...
"Shopping today is really easy with a free helper around. We can buy whatever we want without worrying about carrying it!"
Murong Lian looked back at Mo Ming trailing behind with both hands full of bags and teased, "Mo Helper, could you please speed up? We're almost leaving you behind."
"Sister Lian, isn't that a bit harsh? Torturing Mo Ming like this might make Sister Yuan'er angry," Luoxiwei said sympathetically as she glanced at Mo Ming and teased Lin Yuan'er.
Luo Zixing laughed and said, "You don't understand; when it's time to tease Mo Ming, you should do it to keep him from getting too arrogant. Otherwise, when Sister Yuan'er wants to manage him later on, she won't be able to."
"Exactly! Sister Yuan'er won't get angry. A man should be able to carry bags. What's the greatest happiness? It's when you're shopping like crazy and there's always a man behind you helping carry your bags!" Murong Lian stated matter-of-factly. "Look at Yuan'er; she has such a happy expression on her face. How could she possibly look angry?"
Murong Lian was right about Lin Yuan'er's current feelings, which made Lin Yuan'er feel a mix of shyness and anger. "Nonsense, Sister Lian! If my Brother Mo gets too tired from this, I will really be angry."
"Oh my! Look at this girl! Now that she's married off, she's turning her elbows outward and ignoring us sisters. All she sees is Brother Mo this and Brother Mo that."
Murong Lian joked, "Alright, seeing you so happy one moment and distressed the next, I won't make it difficult for you, Brother Mo. I'm a bit hungry after all this walking, so let's sit at the Tea Restaurant for a while."
Once they arrived at the Tea Restaurant, they found a seat near the window. Mo Ming finally let out a sigh of relief; his hands felt like they were about to be cut off by the countless bag straps. Shopping was no easy task, and he decided that if he could avoid it in the future, he would—especially when it came to accompanying women!
After wandering around for so long and not having breakfast, Mo Ming was extremely hungry. He quickly ordered from the menu and realized only after seeing the server write down his order that he had actually ordered over twenty dishes.
Luoxiwei blinked in astonishment and said, "Wow, how hungry are you? Are you sure you can finish all that?"
"I'm sure I can. Even if you gave me a whole cow right now, I could eat it!" Mo Ming ignored Murong Lian's disdainful look and sat quietly, waiting for the server to bring the food.
While waiting, a child about nine years old approached with a large box and handed it to Mo Ming, saying, "Brother, an uncle asked me to give this to you."
Hearing this, Mo Ming looked around warily and noticed that the person had hidden away. His brows furrowed as he weighed the box in his hands; it wasn't heavy.
Lin Yuan'er asked curiously, "Who sent this?"
Murong Lian and the others were also intrigued. Who would send such a large box while out and about, especially using a child as a "delivery person"?
"My old acquaintance," Mo Ming replied lightly. At this moment, he thought that aside from him, no one else would be bored enough to do something like this. What on earth did that person want?
