In the early morning, after a night of enjoyment, Mo Ming and Lin Yuan'er woke up together. They lingered for a while before getting out of bed to wash up. There were no clothes available, but Mo Ming, still reeking of alcohol, took a shower to freshen himself up.
As they exited the room, they happened to run into Luoxiwei coming out of her room next door. She had stayed in the adjacent room last night but was unaware that Mo Ming and Lin Yuan'er were right next door. Upon seeing them together, with Lin Yuan'er affectionately clinging to Mo Ming's arm, she was momentarily taken aback but then smiled slightly.
"Wow, you two seem to be getting along quite well! Did you have a good time last night? Even now, you're still inseparable. It's truly enviable!"
Suddenly encountering Luoxiwei, Lin Yuan'er showed no signs of embarrassment; instead, she beamed and said, "If you're envious, you should find someone for yourself! With your great qualities, what type of handsome guy wouldn't be within your reach?"
"Tsk tsk, come on now. I was just saying that marriage is like a grave; I don't want to lie down in it so soon. You two enjoy yourselves; don't mind me."
Luoxiwei chuckled and walked over to them, pulling Lin Yuan'er along. She said to Mo Ming, "Sorry, but today your wife belongs to me. She has to take me shopping, so you can do whatever you need to do."
"Watch your words; what do you mean 'my wife belongs to you'? No matter what, she is always mine." Mo Ming shot Luoxiwei a glare and turned to Lin Yuan'er. "Yuan'er, why don't you take her shopping today? I won't join you."
Accompanying women on shopping trips had become the greatest torment in Mo Ming's mind; therefore, he would avoid such outings at all costs and would never volunteer to be an ATM or a porter!
"Hmph, I'm too lazy to argue with you about wording. Anyway, Sister Yuan'er is coming with me," Luoxiwei huffed and added, "Sister Lian just called me and said she's waiting for us downtown."
"Okay, let's head over now." Lin Yuan'er nodded and said to Mo Ming, "Brother Mo, I drove your car here. If you need it, why don't you drive us over? Taking a taxi would be too much trouble; I don't want to deal with that."
Shopping was out of the question for him, but taking Lin Yuan'er wherever she needed to go was something he couldn't refuse. Mo Ming naturally agreed and took the two women downstairs. After waiting for a while, a valet brought out his sports car.
"Yuan'er, you two sit in the back so you can chat comfortably," Mo Ming said as he opened the rear door. Lin Yuan'er didn't say much; she simply nodded slightly and climbed in.
Once Luoxiwei was also in the car, Mo Ming closed the door and returned to the driver's seat. He started the vehicle and slowly turned out of Feng Lai Hotel toward the city center at a moderate speed, careful not to make Lin Yuan'er carsick.
Throughout the ride, Mo Ming remained silent while Lin Yuan'er and Luoxiwei chatted endlessly about various topics. It was quite strange; whenever women gathered together, there was no shortage of conversation topics. When men gathered together, drinking often took precedence over talking!
As they approached Nanhua City's downtown area, pedestrian and vehicle traffic increased significantly. The traffic became congested, forcing Mo Ming to move slowly through it—so slow that it felt like they were moving slower than snails. The street was packed with vehicles; the traffic jam was indeed frustrating.
Fortunately, as they reached the end of the street, traffic improved considerably. While it wasn't completely smooth sailing, at least they didn't have to stop every minute like before because there was an underground parking lot ahead. Generally speaking, if one wanted to shop downtown, most would drive into that underground parking lot.
Mo Ming did not accompany Lin Yuan'er and the others for shopping, so he was too lazy to drive in and out. When he reached the parking lot entrance, he turned left, intending to park by the street to let Lin Yuan'er and Luoxiwei get out.
Just as the car was about to stop, a figure suddenly rushed over, causing Mo Ming to slam on the brakes. The figure fell directly to the ground, while Lin Yuan'er and Luoxiwei were thrown forward due to the sudden stop. Fortunately, neither of them was injured.
Mo Ming witnessed the figure fall and realized that the brakes had been applied in time; he hadn’t hit him at all. The person had deliberately gotten close to the front of the car before falling down.
Was this an attempt at insurance fraud?
Lin Yuan'er and Luoxiwei were startled, thinking that Mo Ming had hit someone. They quickly opened the car doors and walked toward the front of the car, discovering a blonde delinquent around seventeen or eighteen years old rolling on the ground, holding his knees and grimacing in pain.
"Are you... are you okay? Should we take you to the hospital?" Lin Yuan'er asked anxiously, fearing that Mo Ming would be held legally responsible. She looked closely at the blonde delinquent's expression and noticed that he seemed seriously hurt.
"Ouch, it hurts so much..."
The yellow-haired delinquent saw two beautiful women in front of him, his eyes lit up with excitement. He thought this time he would definitely succeed in his scheme and acted even more dramatically. "How could you drive without looking? You almost killed me! Poor me! If my leg ends up crippled because of this, how will I live my life?"
"Let's hurry to the hospital; we'll cover all your medical expenses. We'll get you the best doctors," Lin Yuan'er replied.
She turned back to Mo Ming, who was calmly standing there smoking a cigarette. "Brother Mo, what are you doing? Hurry up and take him to the hospital. If anything happens, dealing with legal issues will be a hassle."
Seeing Mo Ming approach calmly made the delinquent initially wary, but upon hearing Lin Yuan'er's words, he became even bolder and started shouting louder as if wanting everyone to hear him.
"Ah... it hurts! It hurts so much!" The delinquent rolled on the ground dramatically and said pitifully, "My leg feels like it's about to break! You not only have to pay for my medical bills but also for emotional distress! Otherwise, I'll sue you and let the law punish you!"
He was skilled at exploiting the vulnerabilities of those he tried to defraud, using their fear of lawsuits to extort money. Lin Yuan'er's concerns only fueled his greed.
As the delinquent continued shouting, people began gathering around them. In no time at all, they surrounded Mo Ming and his friends tightly, expressing their "concern" without thinking critically about the situation.
"What’s wrong with this guy? He hit someone and is still smoking! Hurry up and take him to the hospital; if you're late even by a moment, it could ruin that person's life! Can you handle that responsibility?"
"Exactly! How can you act like this? You hit someone and still refuse to take them to the hospital? People like you are ruining society!"
"I see your car is quite expensive; you wouldn't be unable to pay for medical expenses, would you?"
...
"Brother Mo..."
Lin Yuan'er noticed that Mo Ming remained indifferent and grew more anxious. Before she could finish her sentence, she was interrupted by Mo Ming's gesture to stop. Just as she was puzzled, she heard Mo Ming speak.
"Um, did you break your leg?"
"Yes, I broke it because of you!" The Yellow-Haired Delinquent firmly insisted that Mo Ming was responsible. After all, he thought with Lin Yuan'er, this soft-hearted woman around, it wouldn't be too difficult to extort Mo Ming.
"I'm really sorry for hitting you. But it's fine; I'm actually a doctor in this field. Can I take a look at it first and then send you to the hospital?"
Lin Yuan'er was taken aback and said, "Uh, Brother Mo, when did you become a doctor?"
Upon hearing this, the Yellow-Haired Delinquent looked at the slight smile on Mo Ming's face and felt an involuntary chill run down his spine. He swallowed hard and found an excuse to say defiantly, "I don't believe you. I want to go to a proper hospital for treatment. Otherwise, just give me the money, and I'll go see a doctor!"
"What hospital? What doctor? Standing right in front of you is a miraculous healer! Hey hey, I'll help you out; don't worry, I guarantee that in no time you'll be able to walk."
Mo Ming squatted down, extinguished his cigarette on the ground, and with a sinister grin grabbed the delinquent's leg. "Oh, it really is broken. But don't worry; I'll fix it for you. Just bear with it; it might hurt a bit!"
"No... no... ah..." With a crisp sound of "crack," the Yellow-Haired Delinquent's eyes widened like saucers, his voice nearly breaking as his face turned pale.
"Just hang in there; I need to do it one more time for it to heal properly. I promise you'll run faster than a rabbit afterward!"
After hearing this from Mo Ming, the Yellow-Haired Delinquent was filled with terror and shook his hands repeatedly. "No, no need! I think it's getting better..."
The Yellow-Haired Delinquent was genuinely scared; this act of staging an accident was risking his life. Encountering someone as tough as Mo Ming meant he not only failed to extort money but also ended up with his leg broken. He dared not stay any longer.
Just as he stumbled to get up, Mo Ming pulled him back and smiled. "Don't rush! Since I hit you, I feel really bad about it. How about I call the traffic police to handle this?"
"No need, it's not a big injury, so there's no need to make it so complicated. I have things to do, so I'll leave first."
This really was a case of not checking the Almanac before going out; anyone they randomly caught was a troublemaker. Unable to extort money, the Yellow-Haired Delinquent ended up getting beaten up instead, feeling quite wronged.
"What could be more important than health? I think it's necessary to have someone handle this. Otherwise, if you end up with some illness later and can't find me, that would be bad." Mo Ming chuckled and said to Lin Yuan'er, "Yuan, call the traffic police and have them come deal with this."
"Uh?" Lin Yuan'er was taken aback, finding it hard to believe. She said, "Brother Mo, why are you doing this? They said there's nothing wrong. Why call the police? If this escalates, dealing with lawsuits will be troublesome."
It was Luoxiwei who reacted quickly, pulling out her phone. "Wait a moment; I'll call the traffic police right now."
"Don't! Don't notify the police! I know I was wrong..." The Yellow-Haired Delinquent knelt down with a mournful face and pleaded, "Big brother, just let me go. I really shouldn't have tried to scam you. You're a big person; please don't hold this against me!"
After the Yellow-Haired Delinquent admitted to scamming people, the onlookers finally realized they had wrongly accused someone and insisted that the scammer be handed over to the police. If they let him continue scamming people, who would dare to do good deeds in the future?
Lin Yuan'er finally came to her senses and felt relieved. Looking at the Yellow-Haired Delinquent with disgust, she said to Mo Ming, "Brother Mo, don't let him off easy; hand him over to the police. People like him shouldn't be tolerated!"
"Of course, don't worry. The righteous female officer is coming; she will handle everything properly for us." Mo Ming had a faint smile on his lips as he looked at Luo Zixing walking alongside Murong Lian.
