Rayal observed Lily's tired but still radiant face, with a gentle smile of understanding and sympathy. He softly, yet firmly, said to her, "You should leave here soon, Lily. You've worked hard this week. Those dark circles under your eyes are so heavy, you must not have slept much, right?"
Traces of toil appeared on Lily's face, and her eyes shimmered with a light that didn't want sympathy. She lowered her head slightly, nodding lightly, as if quietly protesting the unfairness of fate. Her voice carried a hint of determination, but more so a stubbornness not to be seen as weak: "Everyone in the team is working so hard. How can I fall behind?" Her voice carried a hint of weariness, then was interrupted by an unexpected yawn. She covered her mouth with her hand, then squeezed out a smile, with a hint of helplessness in her tone: "But I have to admit, right now I just want to get a good night's sleep."
Rayal nodded, his eyes filled with sympathy and admiration for Lily. He skillfully placed the meticulously organized folder into his leather briefcase, the sound of the clasp being fastened echoing clearly in the quiet office. He slowly stood up, stretched lazily, displaying a subtle sense of relaxation. His movements seemed to convey to Lily: it's time to go. "Guess what? I feel the same way. I just want to find a quiet place and get a good night's sleep." His tone was light, with a hint of anticipation in his smile.
Their eyes met in that moment, both reflecting a faint happiness and mutual understanding. Without needing many words, Rayal gently patted Lily's shoulder, a gesture that was both encouraging and protective, as if silently telling her: that's enough, you've done well. Lily smiled slightly, and the weariness in her eyes seemed to lighten. They nodded to each other, symbolizing the end of a week's hard work.
Rayal and Lily walked out of the tense atmosphere of the office together, their steps becoming more relaxed as their mood lightened. They passed through the busy corridors, crossed the employee rest area, and finally arrived at the company's entrance. Here, unlike the dullness of the office area, it was full of the vitality and freedom of the bustling crowd.
At the company's entrance, they stood facing each other. Rayal waved to Lily and bid her a friendly farewell, "Take good rest, Lily. See you next week." Lily responded with a grateful smile and a light wave, her mood seeming to lighten with the upcoming rest time.
Rayal turned around and set off on the road leading home. The sky was a deep blue, and the midday sun cast his shadow very long, with its rays shining on his back, bringing a warm and comfortable feeling. This natural comfort seemed to silently appreciate his hard work over the past week. He let out a sigh of relief, feeling a deep sense of satisfaction.
The bus stop was not far away, and the bus he was waiting for arrived on time. Rayal boarded the bus and chose a window seat. The inside of the bus was quiet and cool, unlike the usual crowdedness, which pleasantly surprised him. There were few passengers on the bus, a few elderly people sitting quietly, occasionally exchanging a few words about the weather.
Rayal leaned back in the soft seat, his thoughts drifting far away, imagining the comfort of lying in bed at home. He closed his eyes, trying to cast aside the stress and fatigue of the past week. The gentle swaying of the bus and the hum of the engine became an unconscious lullaby, guiding him towards the edge of dreamland.
When Rayal refocused his gaze on the world in front of him, a faint sunlight shone through the swaying window onto his face, gentle and not glaring. Inside the carriage, a calm broadcast was reporting the upcoming station names. This melodious voice created ripples in Rayal's drowsy consciousness, reminding him suddenly that this station was where he needed to get off.
A strange sense of tension arose, and he seemed to feel his heart racing. In an instant, his body acted instinctively, leaping up from his seat. Losing his usual composure, he clumsily stumbled forward, apologizing softly as he passed by the other passengers. "Rayal called out loudly to the driver ahead, "Master, please stop, I need to get off!"
The driver, seeing his flustered state through the rearview mirror, appeared thoughtful but couldn't hide a hint of impatience in his tone: "Sir, we have civilized procedures for disembarking. Please ring the bell before getting off." He gestured lightly towards the red stop button scattered around the carriage.
Rayal immediately realized his mistake and quickly apologized to the driver: "I'm very sorry, I was indeed negligent and accidentally overslept." After that, he hurriedly walked towards the nearest parking bell, lightly touched the cold button, and made a crisp sound.
As the bus slowed down and finally stopped at the station, Rayal nodded slightly in gratitude to the driver and then walked out of the door. He stood by the bus, took a deep breath of the surrounding air, and felt his slightly disheveled mood from sleep gradually calming down.
Rayal tidied up his clothes to ensure that he didn't look sloppy due to sleep. He adjusted the collar of his shirt, smoothed out the wrinkles in his suit, and even lightly patted his pant legs to disperse the dust on them. His movements seemed somewhat mechanical, but in this action, both his body and spirit seemed to regain his demeanor and self-respect as a professional.
