After agreeing to be a stand-in for Murong Lian, Mo Ming began to regret it. 0

Is being a stand-in really a job for humans? 0

Not only does it involve getting beaten and exhausted, but it also doesn't pay much, and one has to endure the temper of big-name stars, who are as picky as selecting vegetables! 0

Once something is said, it's like water spilled; it can't be taken back. 0

Therefore, after receiving permission from Murong Lian to take a break, Mo Ming could only helplessly drive his sports car to the ancient town in Nanhua City. This was an artificially constructed ancient town with architectural styles from the Song Dynasty, laid out according to the city planning of that era. 0

The area was vast; even riding a bicycle for half an hour wouldn't be enough to explore the entire town. 0

Upon arriving at the outskirts of the ancient town, Mo Ming had no choice but to walk because the streets were very narrow, and there were strict regulations stating that no vehicles other than specific horses or carts designated for the town were allowed entry. 0

Mo Ming had to park his car in the designated parking lot outside the town and then began walking to find Su Xiuwen's filming crew. Everything looked the same everywhere he went, leaving him feeling hopeless, as if he were lost in a maze. 0

After wandering for most of the day and making a large loop, he ultimately had no choice but to call Shang Xige to come pick him up; otherwise, he feared he would still be searching when night fell. 0

Later, Mo Ming bizarrely discovered that he had actually been to the location of the crew before; he just hadn't realized it! 0

After Su Xiuwen finished filming the first half of her scenes and took a short break, she stood up and walked over when she saw Mo Ming arrive. 0

"Mo Ming, you finally made it," Su Xiuwen said with a smile. "I didn't expect someone as capable as you would be so directionally challenged; it's quite hard to accept." 0

Shang Xige couldn't help but chuckle at this. 0

"If you dare laugh again, I'll make sure you cry from now on," Mo Ming frowned and glared at Shang Xige. He then turned to Su Xiuwen with a wry smile and said, "Sister Wen, can you not tease me? Everything here looks the same; it's not normal that I couldn't find my way." 0

"Alright, I won't make fun of you anymore," Su Xiuwen stopped laughing and said. "I'm really glad you agreed to come as a stand-in; consider it a favor for me. I'll treat you to a meal later." 0

"This is great, a big meal to enjoy," Mo Ming said. "I'm not very good at acting, and I don't know what a stunt double mainly does." 0

"It's okay, it's quite simple. You'll just help the main actor with some actions. After you change into the male lead's outfit, the director will naturally tell you the basic plot, and you just need to follow along," Su Xiuwen replied with a slight smile. 0

"Well, if I mess it up, don't blame me," Mo Ming said somewhat dejectedly. 0

Su Xiuwen reassured him, "I won't. I believe you will perform excellently." 0

"With you saying that, I feel a lot of pressure..." 0

"Boss, it's really simple. Just think of yourself as a martial arts hero who can defeat anyone; when you see the enemy, just fight. With your skills, you'd definitely be a hero in ancient times," Shang Xige laughed. "Besides, you're much better than that popular star Zong Junjie!" 0

After saying this, Shang Xige inadvertently glanced into the distance and teased, "Speak of the devil; that soft guy has arrived." 0

"Xiuwen, is this kid the stunt double you mentioned? He seems pretty average. What if he can't play my stunt double role well?" 0

Mo Ming quickly assessed the speaker and realized that the man before him was indeed the popular star Zong Junjie. He looked quite handsome with a prominent nose and was about the same height as Mo Ming, but there was a hint of disdain on his face. 0

Before coming here, Murong Lian had informed Mo Ming about the situation: the male lead had injured his back during an action scene and needed someone to fill in. 0

"You can rest assured; if he weren't talented, I wouldn't bother recommending him to the director," Su Xiuwen said somewhat displeased. 0

"I don't see anything special about this guy; he's so weak that he must be a sissy!" Zong Junjie laughed mockingly and glanced at Mo Ming. "Kid, being my stunt double isn't easy." 0

"Well, since you can't perform those action moves yourself, what else can you do? Let the audience watch your flashy but ineffective moves?" Mo Ming teased back. "I've heard that just turning around caused you to get injured; it seems that the more famous someone gets, the weaker they become." 0

"You..." Zong Junjie felt annoyed and wanted to argue but decided against it. He said instead, "Then I'll keep an eye on you to see what skills you have! You better be careful; if anything goes wrong later, just wait for embarrassment." 0

Mo Ming shrugged nonchalantly and said, "Go ahead, I'm getting less afraid of embarrassing myself." 0

After saying that, Zong Junjie walked away in a huff. 0

"Boss, you're really something. From the very beginning, I couldn't stand him and wanted to beat him up. But I held back because I didn't want to cause trouble for Miss Su," Shang Xige laughed. 0

"Alright, Zong Junjie is known for being stingy in the industry. He'll probably keep causing you trouble later." 0

"I'm not particularly skilled at anything, but I specialize in dealing with those who are unreasonable. If he wants to pick on me, I wouldn't mind giving him a big surprise," Mo Ming said with a smile that seemed friendly yet carried a hint of fierceness. 0

Seeing the smile on Mo Ming's face, Su Xiuwen felt a bit of sympathy for Zong Junjie. She really hoped he could tone it down; if he angered Mo Ming, life would likely become difficult for him. 0

"Okay, Mo Ming, let me take you to meet our director, Zhao." 0

"Director Zhao, this is Mo Ming, whom I recommended to you." Su Xiuwen introduced Mo Ming to a middle-aged man wearing a baseball cap. "Mo Ming, this is our director, Zhao Tianbao." 0

"Hello, Director Zhao." 0

Mo Ming shook hands with Director Zhao. 0

Director Zhao smiled kindly and said, "Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to come here. Xiuwen has told me that you are very talented. Later on, just act according to the script; it's mainly action scenes without any dialogue." 0

"I'll do my best. After all, I don't have much talent in this area. If I mess up, please don't blame me, Director Zhao." 0

Su Xiuwen covered her mouth and laughed, "Just relax and perform. Director Zhao is known for being patient and having a good temper; he won't hold it against you." 0

"Xiuwen is right. Just go ahead and act without being nervous. I trust Xiuwen's judgment; you must have exceptional qualities to be recommended like this. Otherwise, I wouldn't bother cutting down the previous scenes and would have just cast you as the male lead directly." 0

Mo Ming smiled wryly and shook his head, saying, "Director Zhao, you're putting a lot of pressure on me!" 0

"Relax, don't stress yourself out. You're going to be fine," Director Zhao laughed a few times, patting Mo Ming on the shoulder with a warm tone. "If it doesn't go well, you can always start over. It's no big deal." 0

Then, Director Zhao turned around and shouted as if preparing for battle, "Old L, hurry up and take Mo Ming to get his makeup done. We're about to start shooting! GO! GO! Let's get moving!" 0

Upon hearing Director Zhao's words, the crew members busied themselves as if preparing for war, bustling around and clattering with equipment while Director Zhao commanded them like a general leading an army. 0

"Mo Ming, that person is Old L. Just follow him," Su Xiuwen said. "I have to go take care of some things. I'll be watching your performance later." 0

Mo Ming smiled wryly and nodded. Looking ahead, he saw a flamboyant man applying heavy makeup. Before he even got close, a strong scent of cologne wafted over—so overpowering it was almost unbearable. 0

From his appearance, one could tell he exuded a flamboyant charm that was distinctly feminine. Compared to him, Zhao the Eunuch from the company seemed rather plain; this man's flamboyance was simply excessive. 0

Mo Ming felt goosebumps all over his body, nearly overwhelmed by the sensation, and his lips twitched slightly. 0

"Boss, take care of yourself. This guy is the gay one in the crew," Shang Xige whispered meaningfully in Mo Ming's ear before walking away. "I'll head out first." 0

Old L stopped in his tracks and immediately struck a flirtatious pose, eyeing Mo Ming with an ambiguous gaze as he smiled and said, "Oh, little brother, you're quite handsome. Is this your first time as a stunt double?" 0

"Yeah," Mo Ming involuntarily twitched at the corner of his mouth. 0

"Good, no need to be nervous," Old L beckoned Mo Ming with a finger and threw him a flirtatious wink. "Alright, come with me. I promise to make you look beautiful; you'll definitely love it." 0

Mo Ming nearly vomited from disgust but managed to suppress it. The level of creepiness was worlds apart from Zhao the Eunuch—Zhao was merely ground level while Old L was on another plane entirely! 0

Despite feeling utterly repulsed, Mo Ming steeled himself and followed him. 0

Upon entering a temporarily set up large tent, which served as a changing room, it was filled with costumes needed for filming, along with toy weapons that were completely harmless but looked quite impressive. 0

Old L handed a costume to Mo Ming with a smile and said, "Hey, this is your costume. Hurry up and put it on. Once you're done, I'll help you with your makeup to make sure you look stunning." 0

"Uh, no need for the makeup, just looking good is fine," Mo Ming replied with a wry smile as he took the costume. "I'm not really used to someone watching me change. Could you step outside for a moment?" 0

"Oh come on, we're all men here. What's there to be embarrassed about?" Old L teased, making a playful gesture while observing Mo Ming's helpless expression. "Alright then, I'll wait outside for you. Hurry up and call me when you're ready." 0

"Okay," Mo Ming responded. Once Old L stepped outside, he felt slightly more at ease and began changing. The ancient costume was quite cumbersome, and after some fumbling around, he finally figured out how to wear it. 0

Just as he was about to finish getting dressed, Mo Ming noticed Old L peeking in sneakily. His lips twitched involuntarily, prompting him to hasten his movements and quickly put on the costume. 0

Mo Ming sighed in frustration and said, "You can come in now." 0

Hearing this, Old L sheepishly walked back in with a grin and remarked, "Wow, I didn't expect you to have such a story behind you. How did you get all those scars?" 0

"It's a long story..." Mo Ming replied with a bitter smile. "Let's get on with the makeup; I see Director Zhao is quite efficient. If we delay too long, you might get into trouble." 0

"You're right; you're really thoughtful," Old L said with a smile as he playfully touched Mo Ming's arm and winked. "Alright, I'll get started on your makeup right away!" 0
