Inside Wanfuh Hospital.
Currently, Murong Lian is in emergency care, while Mo Ming sits on a bench in the corridor outside the emergency room, anxiously waiting for news. His hands are tightly clenched, his brow furrowed, and his mind is a chaotic mess. Suddenly, a surge of frustration overwhelms him, and Mo Ming stands up, pounding his fists against the hard wall.
"Ah..."
At that moment, a doctor wearing a mask walks out of the emergency room. Mo Ming rushes over and asks urgently, "How is she?"
The doctor sighs, removes his mask, and says, "The patient was brought in relatively quickly; however, she has lost a lot of blood and needs an urgent transfusion. The most troublesome part is that her blood type is quite rare. Our blood bank doesn't have this type..." Mo Ming becomes somewhat angry, grabbing the doctor's collar and exclaiming, "Stop wasting time! What blood type is it?"
"Calm down... She has a rare Mumbai Blood Type. Please rest assured; we will..." The doctor notices Mo Ming's reddened eyes and trembles in fear as he hurriedly continues.
Mo Ming suddenly releases the doctor and says, "Draw my blood; I have that blood type. Hurry up and take as much as you need. Don't dawdle! If anything happens to her, I'll blow up this hospital!" At this point, even if Murong Wei arrives, it might be too late. The longer they wait, the more dangerous it becomes for Murong Lian.
Given Mo Ming's state, the doctor does not doubt he would act on his words and agrees, "Alright, I'll arrange it for you immediately."
The hospital quickly makes arrangements. Mo Ming lies on a stretcher and is pushed into the emergency room where they begin drawing his blood to transfuse to the pale-faced Murong Lian. Mo Ming turns his head to look at Murong Lian, who has her eyes tightly closed, feeling the blood slowly being drawn from his body—this blood will give her a new lease on life.
Once the transfusion is complete and the doctor removes the medical equipment from Mo Ming, he jumps off the stretcher to go check on Murong Lian but is stopped by a nurse.
"We still need to perform surgery on her. If you don't want anything to happen to her, please step outside."
"Alright then, I’ll leave it to you."
Mo Ming can only nod helplessly before exiting the emergency room. At that moment, Fu Meng arrives with Lin Yuan'er, Fu Qingyun, and Tian Meng. Seeing Mo Ming's pale face, Fu Meng asks, "Is your friend alright?"
"I don't know," Mo Ming shakes his head wearily, closes his eyes for a moment while rubbing his temples. "They're still in emergency care; I hope she will be fine."
"Brother Mo, don't worry too much. Sister Lian has good fortune; she will be okay," Lin Yuan'er says gently as she lightly holds Mo Ming's hand with a small smile to offer him some comfort. The gesture seems to help; Mo Ming opens his eyes to look at Lin Yuan'er and nods slightly. "Yes, she will be fine."
Beside him, Fu Qingyun said with concern, "Cousin-in-law, don't worry. Your friends are all good people, and God will bless her."
"Good people who know me always run into trouble..." Mo Ming felt that everyone he knew ended up in bad situations. His former partners were like that, and so was the woman he loved the most. Now, even Murong Lian could not be protected, and he felt it was all his fault, filled with self-reproach.
Fu Meng frowned and asked, "Mo Ming, tell me, who did this? It's outrageous to cause such a commotion in Nanhua City. If I find out who it is, I will definitely make them pay."
"Those people are professional assassins. As long as they are paid, they will take on any task without hesitation. I suspect their target is just me; capturing Murong Lian is merely to draw me out. I have a good idea of who orchestrated this, and soon they will realize how wrong this is."
Anyone could hear that as Mo Ming spoke, his voice gradually turned cold, sending chills down people's spines. Even Tian Meng, who usually seemed wooden, couldn't help but feel a sense of fear.
"Mo Ming, tell me who is so bold as to act so recklessly?" Fu Meng's expression was stern as he angrily said, "Tell me who it is; I will help you take care of him!" Both personally and professionally, the actions of those people had already crossed Fu Meng's line, which made him quite angry.
Mo Ming refused: "No need. Even if you know who it is, without evidence you can't do anything to him. I think I will handle this in my own way."
Since Mo Ming didn't want to say more, Fu Meng didn't press further and simply nodded in agreement. "Alright then, no matter what happens, I support you."
"Thank you."
Fu Meng understood what Mo Ming meant by handling things his way; it was in the legal gray area. As the mayor of a city, he unhesitatingly supported Mo Ming, which touched Mo Ming deeply. He felt an increased fondness for Fu Meng, who had a rogue air about him but also possessed the good genes of a capable mayor.
At that moment, Murong Wei rushed over with an anxious expression. Without stopping his steps, he asked, "Mo Ming, how is Lian'er? Is she alright?"
"She is still in emergency treatment; we don't know how it will turn out yet."
Mo Ming felt guilty; as Murong Lian's bodyguard, he had failed to protect her properly and allowed her to get hurt. This made him feel very sorry.
However, since the incident had already occurred, aside from guilt, Mo Ming knew there were things to be done. He pounded his chest heavily and said, "If anything happens to her, I will pay her back with my life. But first, I will make those who harmed her pay the price they deserve!"
"Don't be foolish. No one wants something like this to happen. I don't need you to pay with your life, but I hope those who harmed Lian'er will pay a heavy price!" Murong Wei was worried about his daughter's comfort, yet he did not lose his composure, exuding the demeanor of a business tycoon. Tears were reserved for the weak, while the pain remained in his heart.
"I will make them understand how foolish their actions are," Mo Ming said coldly, his voice even colder. His hands clenched tightly, producing a cracking sound, and a glimmer of murderous intent flashed in his eyes. This caught Tian Meng's attention from a distance; her expression changed slightly as the familiar aura of killing intent reminded her of something she couldn't quite recall.
Everyone waited quietly for a long time until the lights in the emergency room dimmed. The attending physician removed his mask and stepped out, a slight smile on his lips. Upon seeing this, Mo Ming felt a bit of relief.
"Doctor, how is my daughter's condition?" Murong Wei grasped the doctor's arm, asking urgently.
"You must be the father of the injured," the doctor said. "She was brought in promptly, and after our efforts, she is now out of danger. However, she is still in a coma. But you need not worry; she should wake up within two weeks."
"Thank you so much, doctor. I truly appreciate it," Murong Wei said, shaking the doctor's hand with tears in his eyes. The image of a powerful figure in the business world faded away; he was now just a vulnerable father concerned for his daughter's safety. To him, nothing was more important than Murong Lian's life.
"No need to thank us; saving lives is our duty," the doctor nodded and pointed at Mo Ming with a slight smile. "You should thank this gentleman instead. If he hadn't brought her in on time and donated a significant amount of blood, she might not have made it through this ordeal. Sir, you look quite weak; make sure to rest well after you go home."
"Mo Ming..." Murong Wei turned to Mo Ming, about to express his gratitude when Mo Ming interrupted him. "You don't need to say so many thanks. This is all my fault for causing your daughter to end up like this. I already feel guilty enough; being able to do something for her is good for me. Don't make me feel even guiltier."
After the surgery, Murong Lian was wheeled out. Everyone except Mo Ming gathered around to inquire about her condition.
"Doctor, please arrange for a double room for me and also prepare a hospital bed; I want to be hospitalized," Mo Ming told the doctor. "And I want to share a room with Murong Lian."
The doctor looked troubled and said, "The hospital beds are quite limited. You don't seem to have any major issues; perhaps you don't need to stay overnight."
"Well, as long as you help me arrange it, money won't be an issue," Mo Ming replied confidently. "I promise that if Murong Lian wakes up, I'll donate this amount to your hospital." He held up five fingers.
The doctor frowned and whispered, "Are you saying you're going to donate five hundred thousand?" This was already quite a bold guess considering Mo Ming's young age.
"I'm talking about five million... Just tell me if you can help arrange it; if not, I'll transfer her to another hospital."
Upon hearing five million, the doctor's eyes widened; that was no small sum. It was rare for family members of patients to be so generous. Seeing an opportunity before him, the doctor readily agreed: "Alright, I can arrange for you the best double room as long as your words hold true; otherwise..."
"Unless you arrange it for me, I will fulfill my promise immediately!"
Murong Wei noticed Mo Ming whispering something to the doctor and asked, "Mo Ming, what are you whispering about?"
"Nothing much, just asking the doctor a few questions," Mo Ming replied, then instructed the doctor, "You must not tell anyone else about this. Understood? You don't need to ask too much; I have my reasons. Just follow my instructions, and five million will be donated to your hospital."
"Understood, I know what to do," the doctor said as he walked over and instructed the nurse, "Quickly take the injured person to the best double room."
"Why a double room? Is there no single room available?" Murong Wei frowned and asked. "If there are no single rooms, I will transfer to another hospital."
"This..." The doctor seemed a bit troubled and looked at Mo Ming, who smiled and approached, saying, "I have already asked the doctor; all the single rooms here are fully occupied. We can only use a double room. However, I've arranged it so that it will be treated as a single room. Besides Murong Lian, the other bed will remain empty. You know Murong Lian just had surgery and isn't suited for a transfer. I know you are financially capable, but for her health's sake, it's better not to transfer."
"Well then, let's do it your way," Murong Wei reiterated. "The other bed in the double room must not be occupied by anyone else."
The doctor nodded in agreement. "Okay, I understand. I have other matters to attend to; the nurse will take you to that double room shortly. I'll take my leave now."
"Take care, Doctor," Mo Ming chuckled.
