A crisp slap immediately brought the three women, who were in the midst of a playful scuffle, to a halt. They stopped fighting and stared blankly at Mo Ming, not uttering a word, as the surroundings suddenly fell silent.
Even He Yunsong and Silver Wolf were taken aback. Silver Wolf felt somewhat disgruntled; after all, he was a champion in underground boxing and hadn't even touched Mo Ming, yet Jun Qianqian had effortlessly slapped him!
Mo Ming, who initially intended to stop the fight, found himself on the receiving end of Jun Qianqian's slap to his cheek. The sound echoed loudly, and the force was certainly not light. Just by looking at the imprint left on his face, one could tell.
What had he done to deserve this? It was the second time Jun Qianqian had left a mark on him today. Mo Ming felt a bit wronged, a fire igniting within him as he roared in anger.
"Are you all done messing around?"
His voice was filled with rage and carried a hint of coldness, making both He Yunsong and Silver Wolf shiver slightly in fear.
To his surprise, the three women snapped back to reality from Mo Ming's roar and resumed their tussle.
The outcome of his furious shout was rather ironic. Mo Ming shook his head with a wry smile, holding his head in frustration. The anger he felt dissipated as he scratched his short hair, resigning himself to the situation—if they wanted to fight, so be it.
When women fight, they grab, pinch, twist, bite, pull; it’s not as rough as men’s brawls but can be just as terrifying.
They could hit anywhere but preferably not on the face; however, women seemed to disregard that and aimed for each other's faces.
Fortunately, it appeared that these three women had some unspoken understanding—they twisted each other's arms but avoided touching each other's faces. They likely understood that if one struck first, the other would retaliate fiercely, putting their own beauty at risk.
"Enough nonsense! Stop it now!"
A hoarse yet authoritative voice rang out. Upon hearing it, Mo Ming recognized it as Lord Qian's voice and felt a surge of relief. With Lord Qian stepping in, surely these three women would cease their fighting.
And indeed they did; upon hearing the voice, the three women immediately separated and stood quietly to the side, no longer daring to make a move.
"Lian'er, how old are you? Why are you still fighting like a delinquent girl? You've embarrassed me!" Murong Wei's face was flushed with shame as he quickly stepped forward to lecture her. "Do you even know who you hit? She's the granddaughter of Lord Qian. While Lord Qian hasn't blamed you yet, you should hurry up and apologize."
"Hmph, your daughter got hit too," Murong Lian muttered defiantly.
Murong Wei's expression darkened as he pulled on Murong Lian's arm and said sternly, "I want you to apologize to Miss Jun!"
Seeing Murong Lian being reprimanded, Jun Qianqian made a face at her, which only fueled Murong Lian's anger further. She was determined not to back down.
"Why should I apologize? She started it! I did nothing wrong, and I won't apologize."
Murong Wei, already angry, became even more furious after Murong Lian spoke back. He raised his hand as if to strike her, but Mo Ming quickly intervened, advising, "Murong Old Man, let's talk this out calmly. There's no need to escalate it to violence."
Murong Lian felt heartbroken that her beloved father would raise his hand against her for someone else. Her eyes misted over with tears that were on the verge of spilling.
"Dad, you're actually going to hit me for a stranger? I hate you!"
"Hmph, if I raise you without teaching you properly, that's my fault. I'll ask you one last time: will you apologize? If not, from now on, I will have no daughter. Do whatever you want; I won't care!"
At that moment, Ruolin nervously picked at her nails and lowered her head to defend Murong Lian. "Actually, this isn't Sister Murong's fault..."
"Don't speak!" Murong Wei shouted, startling Ruolin into shrinking back and falling silent.
"Alright, Wei, you're being too harsh. It's normal for the younger generation to have some playful fights," Lord Qian said as he approached with his cane. He scolded Jun Qianqian sharply. "You're not a child anymore; how can you be so willful? Look at how you've strained the relationship between them! Don't you have any conscience? Hurry up and apologize to Miss Murong!"
Being mischievous and throwing tantrums is one thing, but Jun Qianqian knew she couldn't be malicious. Realizing the situation had gone too far, she sincerely said to Murong Lian, "I'm sorry; it was all my fault earlier. I apologize."
"Uncle Murong, I hope you're not angry anymore. This was all my doing; it has nothing to do with her. Please don't let this incident ruin your father-daughter relationship. Otherwise, I'll feel guilty for the rest of my life," Jun Qianqian earnestly pleaded with Murong Wei.
Murong Wei sighed as he looked at the aggrieved Murong Lian, her eyes glistening with tears, which made his heart ache. His anger dissipated, leaving only guilt towards Murong Lian.
He had been too impulsive earlier, failing to control his temper. His words and actions had already hurt Murong Lian's feelings.
"I'm sorry, Lian'er. I was too impulsive just now and hurt you. It's my fault. If you want to hate someone, hate me; I brought this upon myself."
Murong Lian, who had been trying to hold back her tears, could no longer contain them. Warm tears streamed down her face, blurring her vision, filled with grievance and sadness.
Mo Ming also bore some responsibility for what had happened; after all, it was his actions that led to this situation. Seeing Murong Lian's sorrowful expression made him feel guilty, so he stepped in front of her and offered his sleeve.
Murong Lian looked up at the man before her, and her tears flowed even more freely as she pushed Mo Ming's sleeve away.
Yet Mo Ming still extended his sleeve towards her.
"Stop crying. If you keep crying, you won't look pretty anymore. Besides, many people are watching; don't let them see a joke," Mo Ming said playfully, his expression comical as he furrowed his brows into a frown and stuck out his lower lip, revealing a hint of rosy flesh.
It was truly amusing. Murong Lian couldn't help but smile through her tears as she gently pushed Mo Ming away and pouted, "You're so annoying! Why do you have to act like that?"
Finally making Murong Lian laugh eased Mo Ming's tension. He gently wiped away her tears with his sleeve and smiled, "You finally decided to smile."
In that moment, Murong Lian felt an overwhelming sense of happiness. Her heart warmed as if it were sweetened with honey; it felt like cotton candy—soft and melting with just a taste. She realized she had truly fallen for this playful yet caring man.
Hearing his daughter laugh brought some comfort to Murong Wei's heart.
"I'm really sorry, Sister Murong. I was too much earlier; please forgive me this once," Jun Qianqian said as she approached, playfully shaking Murong Lian's hand.
Actually, since Jun Qianqian stood up to apologize and speak for her, Murong Lian no longer held a grudge. Now that Jun Qianqian is speaking, she is even less likely to not forgive her; she is not that petty of a person.
"I no longer blame you. My sister was also at fault earlier, and I apologize to you as well," Murong Lian said with a faint smile. "From today onward, the three of us will be good sisters. Let's put the unpleasantness behind us."
"Yes, yes, we are all good sisters."
Jun Qianqian smiled brightly, holding the hands of Murong Lian and Ruolin, and said, "Alright, to make it up to you, I’ll take you both out for a stroll."
The three women inexplicably got into a fight and then inexplicably became good sisters. The events unfolded in just a moment; this truly reflects the complexity of women's hearts—like a needle in the ocean, their moods change faster than the weather, and most importantly, you can't guess what they are really thinking.
Such profound philosophical questions are best left to professionals to study slowly; Mo Ming certainly didn't want to waste his energy pondering them.
Once these three women left, the atmosphere became completely quiet. Just as Mo Ming was about to slip away, Lord Qian hooked his clothing with his dragon-headed cane and said seriously, "It seems you still need to tell me what exactly happened just now."
"Seventh Master expressed my thoughts. Mo Ming, you better explain why they were fighting," Murong Wei began to interrogate him as well. After all, their father-daughter relationship had nearly been shattered just moments ago.
He Yunsong and Silver Wolf, who had been watching the drama all day, approached.
"Sorry, boss. That was just a women's war; men and women are different, so we can't get involved," Silver Wolf said with a wry smile as he spread his hands in helplessness.
He Yunsong smiled and looked meaningfully at Mo Ming, waiting for him to speak. He was curious how Mo Ming would explain things clearly to Lord Qian and Murong Wei.
"Are you sure you really want to hear my explanation?" Mo Ming saw the serious expressions on Lord Qian and Murong Wei's faces and realized he had no choice but to provide an explanation. He could only smile wryly and say, "If I told you they were fighting because of me, would you believe it?"
"Be clear!" Seventh Master frowned and said.
"This story is quite long..."
Murong Wei said unhappily, "Then just get to the point!"
"But I'm not good at expressing myself, and as the person involved, what I say might not be true, so..." Mo Ming pushed He Yunsong in front of the two elders and said, "It's better for Ah Yun to tell you, after all, he is a witness to the whole incident."
"Damn it, boss, you don't need to sell me out like that!"
He Yunsong felt a bit frustrated and reached out to grab Silver Wolf as a shield. However, both Silver Wolf and Mo Ming had moved far away. He couldn't help but curse these two for their lack of loyalty and could only smile bitterly at Seventh Master.
"Ah Yun, you speak."
Lord Qian spoke up, and He Yunsong could only briefly explain the cause of the earlier incident. His summary was quite insightful and concise. After listening, Lord Qian and Murong Wei understood the reason.
"Mo Ming, you have to explain to me why Qianqian says you're her boyfriend!" Lord Qian's voice was somewhat cold as he squinted at Mo Ming and said, "Did you do something you shouldn't have?"
"By heaven's conscience, Seventh Master, I really have nothing going on with your granddaughter. As for why she said that, you need to ask her; I'm also a victim here. I didn't do anything except kiss her once just now." Mo Ming quickly clarified, "That was just an accident; I didn't mean it. Huang Siye saw it; he can vouch for me!"
