At that moment, Murong Lian noticed the commotion outside and hurried out to intervene.
With Murong Lian speaking up, Mo Ming simply smiled and released Liu Hu. However, Liu Hu was unwilling to back down and swung his fist again. Mo Ming dropped his stance and laughed, "Wow, haven't you knelt enough yet?"
"Liu Hu, if you don't stop, do you want to completely embarrass me?" Yang Yuan, the big bad wolf, initially wanted Liu Hu to test Mo Ming's strength as a warning. Little did he know that it was Mo Ming who ended up giving the warning. He had no choice but to step in quickly, walking up to Liu Hu and slapping him across the face. Liu Hu didn't dare to say a word.
"I'm sorry, Young Master Yang." Liu Hu could only apologize, feeling no anger at all; after all, he was just a dog and dared not show any defiance towards his master.
Yang Yuan looked quite embarrassed and said to Murong Lian, "Miss Murong, I apologize for the trouble. It's my fault for not managing my subordinates well, which led to this incident. You can't blame Mo Ming."
Although it seemed that Yang Yuan wasn't blaming Mo Ming with those words, he actually wanted Murong Lian to see Mo Ming and not let him bite indiscriminately.
"I apologize on behalf of Mo Ming for this matter. After I return, I will properly discipline him," Murong Lian said before shooting a fierce glare at Mo Ming, who merely shrugged with a smile.
"Alright then, Miss Murong. See you another day," Yang Yuan said with his hands behind his back and a smile before leaving. Liu Hu was still dissatisfied, his eyes blazing with anger as he shot a glance at Mo Ming before snorting coldly and departing.
"Tch, those three little cats dare to make a move," Mo Ming said while extending his middle finger in disdain. He then turned to Murong Lian with a grin and said, "Miss, actually about this matter..."
Murong Lian frowned and said, "Mo Ming, come into my office for a moment. I have something to discuss with you."
"Oh," Mo Ming replied and followed Murong Lian into the office.
After witnessing today's events, Li Minghan was dumbfounded. He hadn't expected that Liu Hu, who seemed to be about the same size as him, would be so easily defeated by Mo Ming. He felt somewhat relieved that he hadn't truly fought earlier; otherwise, he would have been utterly humiliated.
Once inside the office with Murong Lian and as soon as she closed the door, an aura of killing intent radiated from her. Mo Ming thought about opening the door to slip away but before he could even touch it, his collar was grabbed by Murong Lian.
"Where do you think you're going?" Murong Lian's voice sounded like it came from the Underworld—somewhat frightening. Mo Ming grinned foolishly and turned back to say, "I need to use the restroom; you don't mind, do you?"
"Which restroom? Hurry up and explain what just happened!" Murong Lian said irritably.
"This wasn't started by me. If you want to blame someone, blame Yang Yuan. I was enjoying the game when he brought a dog over to bite me. Should I just let the dog bite me and then come crying to you?" Mo Ming replied with righteous indignation.
In fact, Murong Lian wasn't too angry; after all, Mo Ming had stood up for himself and didn't embarrass her. After hearing Mo Ming's words, she asked, "Are you okay? Did that dog bite you?" After saying this, Murong Lian inexplicably burst into laughter.
"The dog couldn't reach me." Mo Ming looked at Murong Lian and smiled, "You're not angry, are you?"
"I'm not angry." Murong Lian asked, "Mo Ming, it seems like Yang Yuan has quite a grudge against you. How did you provoke him?"
"Do I even need to say?" Mo Ming shook his head with a bitter smile and said, "The reason Yang Yuan is so harsh on me is all because of you. Just now, he made a threat saying that you're his and told me not to get too close to you, or else he'd make me disappear."
"Who does he think he is to claim that?" Murong Lian questioned skeptically. "Are you sure you're not joking?"
"It's absolutely true. Why would I lie to you?" Mo Ming said gloomily. "I think Yang Yuan is probably infatuated with your beauty. If you like him too, why not just get together? That way, I won't have to worry about disappearing."
Oh...
As soon as those words left his mouth, Murong Lian nearly twisted Mo Ming's arm off. She glared at him angrily and said, "Do you really want me to marry him?"
"Please spare me! I was just joking. If you don't like him, then don't marry him... Oh, fine! Yang Yuan isn't worthy of you!" When Mo Ming said this, Murong Lian finally let go of him. She crossed her arms and still looked a bit miffed as she said, "Mo Ming, if you dare suggest I marry someone else again, we’re not done!"
"Got it. I won't say anything more." Mo Ming yawned and added, "By the way, it seems like Qiu Lan didn't come to work today. Did she take a day off?"
"No," Murong Lian shook her head and replied. "Why? Are you already missing her after just one day?"
"Well, not really. Why would I miss that little girl?" Mo Ming said. "If you have nothing going on, I'm leaving work early."
"Who let you leave work early? You're my personal bodyguard; if you're not here to protect me, where are you going?" Murong Lian said.
"Are you kidding? Who said personal bodyguards have no freedom? I didn't sell myself to you!" Mo Ming replied impatiently. "Do you have something to say or not? If not, I'm really leaving."
Murong Lian sighed helplessly, took a deep breath, and pulled out a phone from the drawer, handing it to Mo Ming. "I noticed you don't seem to have a phone. This one I just bought today; take it and use it!"
"Thanks in advance," Mo Ming said as he took the phone and put it in his pocket. "Can I go now?"
"Go ahead! Do you want me to kick you out?" Murong Lian waved his hand.
...
After work, Mo Ming drove straight to Qiu Lan's house. He hadn't seen her all day, and since she hadn't taken a leave, it was strange. He thought something might have happened, so he decided to check on her.
Arriving at her building, Mo Ming casually asked a few passersby and finally learned Qiu Lan's address. He stood outside her door and rang the bell for two minutes before hearing her voice.
"Who is it? Are you annoying? If there's nothing, just go away..." The voice sounded angry but also had a hint of tears. Mo Ming thought, please let nothing serious have happened, and quickly called out, "Qiu Lan, it's me, Mo Ming."
After some commotion inside, Qiu Lan finally opened the door. Seeing her in a SpongeBob nightgown made Mo Ming realize she hadn't left the house all day. Looking at her eyes, they were clearly swollen from crying.
"Mo Ming, what do you want?" Qiu Lan's voice was still hoarse from crying.
"Nothing much; I just wanted to check on you since I hadn't seen you all day," Mo Ming gestured with his hand. "From the looks of it, you've had a really terrible day."
As soon as Mo Ming finished speaking, Qiu Lan's expression changed dramatically; it was like dark clouds had gathered. She pouted and suddenly hugged Mo Ming tightly, resting her head on his shoulder while crying, "Wah... my stocks are ruined; I'm bankrupt!"
Mo Ming, who was still trying to understand the situation, recalled that Qiu Lan had mentioned stocks last time. The stock belonged to Cao's Real Estate and had plummeted after the theft scandal.
"Alright, stop crying." Mo Ming gently patted her back and said, "Anyway, what's done is done. Just consider it a lesson learned. Money lost can be recovered; as long as you're safe, that's what matters."
Who would have thought that after Mo Ming's consolation, Qiu Lan cried even louder? She actually bit down hard on Mo Ming's shoulder, causing him to furrow his brows in pain. However, Mo Ming didn't cry out; he figured it was better to let her vent.
"...Wuwu... Why aren't you crying out? Doesn't it hurt?" Qiu Lan noticed that Mo Ming showed no reaction and looked up at him.
Mo Ming laughed and scolded, "How could it not hurt? You should try biting me and see for yourself. I bet it's all swollen now. What bad luck! I came here with good intentions to see you, and instead, you bit me. How am I supposed to explain this to my wife tonight?"
"But you don't even have a wife yet!" Qiu Lan laughed through her tears.
"Hey, as long as you're smiling, that's good enough." Mo Ming smiled slightly and asked, "So, is there anyone at home?"
"Nope, just me."
Mo Ming chuckled and said, "That's good. I'm always afraid of meeting parents."
"What are you talking about? I'm not your girlfriend; why would I introduce you to my parents?" Qiu Lan teased. "Stop being silly and come in and sit down."
When Mo Ming walked into Qiu Lan's house, he was taken aback by the mess. It seemed the stock market incident had hit Qiu Lan hard. Seeing the surprise in her eyes made her feel a bit embarrassed, and she quickly started tidying up.
"I'm sorry; I'll clean up right away," Qiu Lan said apologetically.
"It's fine; take your time. I'm not in a hurry," Mo Ming replied with a slight smile. He then asked, "Actually, I came here because I need your help with something."
"Go ahead; what do you need?" Qiu Lan asked while continuing to clean.
"Um," Mo Ming said, "I wanted to ask if I could borrow some money. I know you're having financial difficulties lately, but I'm also in a tough spot."
Upon hearing this, Qiu Lan was taken aback for a moment, then hurried back to her room and took out a stack of cash from an iron box, handing it to Mo Ming. "I only have two thousand dollars left. If you don't mind, you can take it and use it for now. After all, I've already lost so much money; I don't care about this two thousand."
"Thank you very much," Mo Ming said without hesitation as he accepted the money. "You helped me this time, so if I help you next time, don't be polite, okay?"
Mo Ming's words clearly hinted at setting up a reason for future events.
"Hey, it's just two thousand dollars. I don't even know if it will help you," Qiu Lan shook her head and said. "You don't need to think about owing me any favors; it's unnecessary."
"By the way, how much did you lose in stock trading this time?" Mo Ming asked.
Without thinking, Qiu Lan replied directly, "Four hundred thousand... I feel really sorry for my parents. This money was all saved up by them for me, and I just threw it all into the ocean... sob." As she spoke, Qiu Lan recalled the events of the stock market.
"Well, it's just four hundred thousand. It's fine; you can still get it back," Mo Ming glanced at the time. The market had just opened not long ago, and he jokingly said to Qiu Lan, "Do you want me to help you get that four hundred thousand back?"
"It's impossible to get it back; don't try to cheer me up. This matter is beyond saving," Qiu Lan knew that the Cao Family was also in dire straits now; how could that four hundred thousand come back?
"It's okay; leave it to me and let me give it a try," Mo Ming smiled confidently and said, "As long as you believe in me, the next moment will be a miracle because I can manipulate the stock market at will."
