As night fell, the neon lights illuminated the entire city, casting a vibrant array of colors that reflected off the glass facades, creating a mesmerizing tapestry. People flowed through the streets, and vehicles darted along the roads. Li Ming dragged his weary body out of the towering office building, his mood heavy as if burdened by a great stone.
In today's company meeting room, Li Ming had once again faced exclusion and suppression from his colleagues. The project he was responsible for was taken over by a more connected coworker, and his efforts went unnoticed by his boss, who merely offered cold criticism. Li Ming was assigned a seat in the corner of the office while groups of colleagues huddled together discussing projects, completely ignoring him.
"Li Ming, this report needs some improvements; submit it by tomorrow morning," his boss said coldly, disregarding that Li Ming had been working overtime for several days straight.
"Okay, I understand," Li Ming replied softly, filled with helplessness.
"Seriously, it's always him. Why can't he do something decent?" colleague Xiao Li muttered nearby. Though her voice was low, it was loud enough for Li Ming to hear.
Li Ming silently gathered the documents on his desk, a hint of bitterness flashing in his eyes. He knew he had no voice in the company; any effort he made would go unseen.
After work, Li Ming walked home alone along the bustling streets lined with brightly lit shops as people hurried past. His residence was on the outskirts of the city—a shabby little apartment. It was far from the city center, where rent was cheap but the environment was quite poor.
He entered a convenience store and bought a box of instant noodles and a bottle of mineral water. At checkout, the cashier didn’t even bother to glance at him, deepening his sense of loneliness.
This city stood as a symbol of modern civilization, with towering skyscrapers and advanced technology. However, beneath its seemingly calm surface lay countless undercurrents due to the infiltration of Hidden Realm's power. Li Ming was unaware that within this bustling metropolis, the forces of Hidden Realm were awakening, heralding significant changes ahead.
In recent days, Li Ming had occasionally sensed an unusual aura in the city but hadn’t thought much of it. In reality, the power of Hidden Realm was slowly seeping in; Spiritual Energy was gradually reviving within the city, causing ordinary people to begin experiencing strange phenomena.
"Have you noticed something odd about the air lately?" colleague Xiao Zhang asked while looking out the window.
"Huh? What do you mean?" Li Ming casually inquired.
"I can't quite put my finger on it; it just feels like there's a strange smell in the air. Sometimes I even feel tightness in my chest," Xiao Zhang replied with a furrowed brow.
Li Ming nodded; although he felt something similar himself, he brushed it off. He thought it might just be due to stress affecting his health lately.
Returning to the apartment, Li Ming collapsed onto his bed, recalling the various encounters of the day in his mind. His life was tough, and his future seemed bleak, but he did not know that the wheels of fate had already begun to turn, and an extraordinary adventure was about to change his life forever.
"Tomorrow is a new day; I hope something good will happen," Li Ming muttered to himself.
The next day, Li Ming woke up early again and headed to the office. The atmosphere in the office remained cold; colleagues were busy with their own tasks, and no one noticed his presence. He worked hard on his assignments but still failed to gain his supervisor's approval.
During lunch break, Li Ming sat alone on a bench downstairs, staring blankly at the distant sky. Just then, his phone rang; it was his friend Wang Qiang calling.
"Hey, Li! Are you free tonight? A few of us brothers are going for a picnic to relax," Wang Qiang's voice was filled with excitement.
"A picnic? I don't think I can make it tonight; I still have a lot of work to finish," Li Ming replied helplessly.
"Don't say that! Work can be done anytime; relaxing is what matters most. Besides, it's been a while since we gathered; it's a great opportunity to catch up," Wang Qiang urged.
Li Ming hesitated for a moment but finally agreed. "Alright, I'll try to finish my work early and join you guys tonight."
That evening, Li Ming drove out to the countryside with Wang Qiang and a few friends. They arrived at a picturesque location with clear mountains and fresh air. Everyone set up tents by the lake, lit a bonfire, chatted, and drank beer, temporarily forgetting about their work troubles.
"Li, how have you been lately? I heard things haven't been going well for you at work," Wang Qiang said as he patted Li Ming's shoulder with concern.
"It's okay; just a bit of pressure from work," Li Ming replied with a wry smile.
"Don't push yourself too hard; your health is important. By the way, I've heard that many people have awakened their abilities recently. Do you feel anything like that?" Wang Qiang continued to ask.
"Awakened abilities? What are you joking about? People like us are not that lucky," Li Ming shook his head and laughed.
"Maybe one day you'll awaken. Don't forget to bring the brothers along," Wang Qiang laughed heartily.
Just as everyone was getting into the conversation, Li Ming suddenly felt dizzy and his body involuntarily leaned forward. Wang Qiang quickly supported him and asked with concern, "Old Li, are you okay?"
"I'm fine, just a bit dizzy. I might be too tired today," Li Ming waved his hand, indicating that he was alright.
To alleviate his dizziness, Li Ming decided to take a walk alone. He slowly walked along the path by the lake and unknowingly wandered into a secluded corner. There, he discovered a hidden entrance.
"What is this place? How did I not notice it before?" Curiously, Li Ming stepped into the entrance and found that it led to an extraordinary space. The cave was dimly lit, but the air was filled with a refreshing scent that made him feel invigorated.
He continued walking forward when suddenly his foot slipped, and he fell into a deep pit. Li Ming panicked but quickly realized he had landed in an ancient cave.
Deep inside the cave, Li Ming discovered an ancient book and a pearl. The book emitted a faint golden light, while the pearl radiated a warm glow. He carefully picked up the ancient book and opened the first page, which read: "Primordial True Scripture."
"Primordial True Scripture? What is this?" Li Ming wondered, feeling that this book was extraordinary. He tucked away the book and the pearl, planning to study them thoroughly later.
Back at his apartment, Li Ming placed the ancient book and pearl on the table for careful examination. The content of the book was obscure and difficult to understand, but he sensed it contained immense power. The light emitted by the pearl also brought him a sense of reassurance.
"What exactly is this? Why was it in that cave?" Li Ming pondered endlessly but felt that his fate was about to change.
Thus, in confusion and anticipation, Li Ming welcomed a new chapter in his life. And all of this was merely the prelude to the turning of fate's wheel.
