Finally, due to the interference of the Twelve Ancestor Witches, Demon Emperor Di Jun and Eastern Emperor Taiyi were unable to kill Hou Yi. Di Jun coldly declared, "I will not let this matter rest, hm," and then left with Eastern Emperor Taiyi.
The Twelve Ancestor Witches stood in place, Di Jiang shook his head and sighed, saying, "It seems we cannot settle this peacefully with the demon clan."
"We can't settle it peacefully; if they want to fight, let them fight. Are we supposed to be afraid of them?" Gonggong, who also had a bad temper, interjected.
"Exactly! If they want to fight, we won't be afraid!" the other Ancestral Shamans chimed in.
Seeing their reaction, Di Jiang could only shake his head and sigh. Fighting was easier said than done. The demon clan was not just any small tribe; their strength was not much weaker than that of the Witch Clan. A battle would indeed be a tough struggle.
Ye Chuanze returned to Buzhou Mountain and quietly stayed in the Cave, watching the turmoil outside.
Hou Yi shot down the suns, leaving only the last one among the demon clan's ten princes. After a brief obscuration of heavenly secrets, clarity returned; it turned out that the two Sages from the West were behind it. Zhun Ti transformed into a Daoist and went to the Eastern Sea to lure Little Golden Crow to the Primordial Land, causing all ten suns to rise together and bringing catastrophic disaster to the land.
Ye Chuanze thought that if Earth were to face an apocalypse, it would be like this: all ten suns rising together, mountains and rivers severed, land cracked open, everything destroyed, and sentient beings annihilated. Did the two Sages from the West truly think that their schemes would go unpunished by the Heavenly Dao?
A disdainful smile appeared on Ye Chuanze's lips. Did they really believe that by doing so they were aligning with heavenly will and that the Heavenly Dao would overlook their actions? Naive!
Among all in Primordial times, those who most eagerly wished for both Lich Clans to suffer mutual destruction were indeed these two Sages from the West. The war between Dragon and Phoenix Clans led to mutual devastation, paving the way for the rise of the Lich Clans. After both sides suffered greatly, these two frugal Sages who had always aimed to empty the East and fill the desolate West would not spare Lich Clans' territory either.
One was the ruler of the earth; the other was the king of the sky. The wealth and power of Lich Clans were enough to tempt anyone.
Ye Chuanze leaned back on a soft couch, closed his eyes slightly, secretly plotting how he should find a way out for the demon clan. The current glory and power could not be preserved; he only hoped that in the end, the demon clan would not meet a fate similar to that of Dragon and Phoenix Clans—nearly extermination.
What rises must fall; Lich Clans' momentum was indeed too strong.
Meanwhile, as Zhun Ti's scheme was exposed, Demon Emperor Di Jun was instantly enraged. "You Zhun Ti! I have always known you to be insidious and deep-minded; I never expected you to be so malicious! May disaster not reach your wife and children; if you want me to cut off my lineage, I will make sure your teachings do not survive!"
On the spot, Demon Emperor Di Jun drew his sword and charged towards Western Spirit Mountain. Yao Master Kunpeng blocked him and said, "Your Majesty, please calm down! Currently, our clan is at odds with the Witch Clan, and war is imminent. In this situation, making more enemies would be unwise. We cannot afford to offend the two Sages in the West!"
Di Jun was furious at these words and kicked at him, but Kunpeng swiftly dodged.
"How dare you, Kunpeng! How dare you, Grand Tutor of the Crown Prince!" Di Jun pointed at him and scolded, "I entrusted the Crown Prince to your care, and now that he is in trouble, you cannot escape blame! Instead of seeking revenge for the Crown Prince, you hinder me at every turn. You... you disgrace yourself as a Demon Master! You betray the countless demon subjects!"
Kunpeng remained silent after being scolded, his face cold and unyielding. He did not attempt to stop Di Jun again. All of the Primordial demon powers were proud; who could tolerate being insulted like this? Although Di Jun was the Demon Emperor, he had a few rebellious subordinates, and Kunpeng was one of them. In their early years, Kunpeng often opposed Di Jun; they even fought over the Saint Position in Purple Cloud Palace. It was false to say that Kunpeng was intimidated by Di Jun's aura and submitted to him; their alliance was based on mutual benefit. Di Jun needed to unify the demon clan to establish supreme authority, while Kunpeng hoped to leverage Di Jun's power as Demon Emperor to achieve great accomplishments.
Kunpeng's expression turned cold from Di Jun's scolding. He did not retaliate but instead gave him a disdainful look, as if he were doing Di Jun a favor. He did not feel responsible for the Crown Prince's troubles. If the Sages were plotting against them, he could only defend against immediate threats; eventually, something would happen. His allegiance to Di Jun was for personal ambition, not for babysitting.
Di Jun knew him well enough not to be unaware of his thoughts. He glared at Kunpeng with resentment before leaving with his sword drawn, followed closely by Eastern Emperor Taiyi.
When they arrived at Western Spirit Mountain, without saying a word, Di Jun swung his sword down and shattered the plaques in the hall of Zhun Ti and Jieyin, the two Sages' dojo. Eastern Emperor Taiyi silently summoned the Eastern Emperor Bell; its chime echoed as it crashed into the mountain, causing it to collapse significantly. As one of the ten innate Spiritual Treasures, its power was astonishing!
"Zhun Ti, come out!" Di Jun shouted coldly.
After waiting for a long time, no one appeared.
On that day, no matter how much Di Jun yelled and insulted them, Zhun Ti never showed up. Infuriated, Di Jun and Eastern Emperor Taiyi destroyed the dojo on Ling Mountain and wreaked havoc before leaving in anger.
This incident became somewhat of a joke among the Primordial beings; they were confronted but dared not fight back and had their dojo smashed while Ling Mountain was ruined—truly fitting for a Sage! Unfortunately, everyone could only mutter this in their hearts but dared not voice it aloud. After all, they were still Sages; offending two Sages was no trivial matter.
When Ye Chuanze learned of this incident, he smirked sarcastically—truly a Sage! Able to endure what ordinary people cannot endure; no wonder they could ultimately achieve great things. The Dao Ancestor once evaluated them as having great perseverance and wisdom; that assessment was indeed accurate!
*********
On this day, the weather was clear.
The morning air was always fresh and natural; dew rolled off narrow blades of grass into the soil below. The world felt distant from chaos and was enveloped in tranquility. Birds that had awakened early chirped restlessly on branches, hopping about playfully.
Buzhou Mountain, Yunze Cave.
The gatekeeper boy was sweeping in front of the door, clearing away the dust of the day.
"Young boy, is your Real Person available?"
Suddenly, a deep voice came from behind. The boy looked up to see a handsome and imposing man dressed in splendid robes, holding the hand of a five or six-year-old child clad in golden garments.
"Who are you? What business do you have with my Real Person?" the boy asked.
"Go and inform them that Di Jun has come to visit," the man replied.
Upon hearing the name Di Jun, the boy immediately recognized who it was. He quickly dropped his broom and ran inside to deliver the message.
The child in golden garments, still holding Di Jun's hand, glanced at the broom left alone on the ground, then looked at the boy who had already run far away. Turning to Di Jun, he said, "Father, he left this behind." He pointed at the broom on the ground.
Di Jun casually glanced at the broom and said gently, "If it's lost, then let it be."
The boy hesitated for a moment, released his hand, took a few quick steps forward, and bent down to pick up the broom. After pondering for a moment, he leaned the broom against the door nearby. Once he finished, he ran back to Di Jun and took his hand again.
Watching his actions, Di Jun affectionately stroked his head without saying a word.
After about half an incense stick's time, the boy ran back, panting and said, "Real Person requests your presence; Demon Emperor, please follow me."
Ye Chuanze had set up a tea banquet in the pavilion. Noticing footsteps approaching, he looked up and was momentarily taken aback.
Di Jun was still the same Di Jun, proud and aloof, wearing a magnificent crown and brocade robe, his handsome face displaying an air of arrogance and authority. The recent upheaval had not diminished him; the pain of losing a child had not broken him. He remained the Demon Emperor, ruler of the demon clan, sitting high above in the Heavenly Palace.
However, this was not what surprised Ye Chuanze. What astonished him was the child beside Di Jun, exquisitely beautiful and clever-looking in his golden attire. This must be the last remaining prince of the demon clan.
"Long time no see, Mr. Ye is still as charming as ever, not a bit changed," Di Jun said first.
Ye Chuanze smiled politely at the words and replied, "Di Jun, you are also as impressive as in the past. Please take a seat."
Di Jun sat down, and the child beside him remained silent.
" Mr. Ye truly lives like a carefree cloud, traveling everywhere with traces hard to find. I have visited several times but could not enter," Di Jun said with a smile.
Hearing this, Ye Chuanze lowered his eyes and said lightly, "You came at the wrong time; I was attending a lecture by Dao Ancestor at Purple Cloud Palace recently."
Di Jun did not respond.
Ye Chuanze poured him a cup of tea and said, "Friend, try this tea made from leaves grown at the top of Kunlun Mountain; it is quite rare."
After pouring a cup for Di Jun, Ye Chuanze poured another for the child beside him and said, "This is..."
"This is my son Lu Ya," Di Jun said, then turned to Lu Ya and said, "Quickly greet Real Person."
Lu Ya pursed his lips and said to Ye Chuanze, "Lu Ya has met Real Person."
Ye Chuanze smiled and said, "So it's His Highness the Prince!" He then took out a treasure from Mustard Seed Space and handed it to Lu Ya, saying, "Since it's our first meeting, take this little thing to play with!"
Lu Ya stared at him with bright black eyes for a long time before softly saying, "Thank you, Real Person," and then reached out to take it, placing it on his knees.
Seeing this, Di Jun smiled and said, "This is my only child; he is my flesh and blood. I cherish him like a treasure in my palm, my heart's flesh. Whoever wants to destroy my treasure or harm my heart's flesh will pay with their life!" As he spoke the last part, Di Jun's voice turned harsh and cold.
Ye Chuanze remained silent, understanding what he meant.
At this moment, he felt there was no need to say more; saying too much would be futile. The emperor of the demon clan before him had been blinded by the grief of losing his child. No one could stop his revenge and ambition now. Driven by hatred and ambition, the Lich Clans would not rest until one side was defeated; only then would they cease their actions.
"I also hope that fellow Taoist people will pay more attention to the overall situation in everything in the future, take a longer-term view, and think twice before acting." This is the only thing Ye Chuanze can persuade at this time. I only hope that he can leave a way out for the demon clan. Di Jun heard this, looked at him deeply, and said: "If fellow Taoist are not at ease, why not join me in the great cause, just like in the past, you and Fuxi will fight for me, the demon war god." He is invincible and makes the enemy frightened by the news." Ye Chuanze was silent after hearing this, and after a long time he said: "I have no intention of fighting and killing anymore. Don't force me. If you don't say this, why did you come here today? "What happened?" Di Jun took a sip of tea, put down the cup, and said, "I came here today to send my disciples to you."
