Ye Chuanze watched Hongjun's earlier actions, feeling completely unsettled. Two grown men behaving like that was truly... inappropriate. He felt an unusual turmoil within himself and unconsciously licked the corner of his lips, his tongue brushing over the spot where Hongjun's fingers had just been. His movements froze as he realized how ambiguous this action was and how utterly out of place it felt. The confusion deepened; was he being influenced by Hongjun? Did Hongjun's loss of decorum mean he was losing his own intelligence as well?
Hongjun glanced at Ye Chuanze's actions, seemingly unfazed. His expression remained calm and indifferent, as if the teasing gestures he had just made were not his at all. He held an empty wine glass in his hand, giving it a slight swirl before picking up the Wine Jug and pouring himself a glass filled to the brim. He then offered the glass to Ye Chuanze, coldly stating one word, "Drink."
"..." Ye Chuanze.
Ye Chuanze looked at the glass of wine and then at Hongjun, his expression conflicted. He tentatively asked, "Master, can I not drink?"
"You can," Hongjun replied without even lifting his eyelids.
Hearing this, Ye Chuanze's face brightened momentarily, but before he could feel too pleased, Hongjun looked at him with a cold tone and said, "If you don't drink, we will play chess."
"… Let's just drink!" Ye Chuanze said with a twitch of his mouth. Compared to playing chess, he decisively chose to drink! Just thinking about the days when Hongjun forced him to learn chess made Ye Chuanze's heart ache; those memories were unbearable and definitely a tragic past that he couldn't forget. He simply wasn't a person suited for chess; he lacked the intelligence for it.
Hongjun raised his eyes to look at him, still holding out the wine glass in front of him, urging him to drink quickly.
After hesitating for a moment, Ye Chuanze cautiously said, "Could I have a different glass? This one you just used... Not that I mind you using it; I just think it's better if we don't share glasses... I absolutely do not mind you; how could I dare to mind you? I don't mind you at all..." His voice grew quieter as he spoke. Fine... Actually, he did mind; who would want to drink from your saliva!
Hongjun remained silent after hearing this, merely looking at him coldly while keeping the wine glass extended in front of him without moving.
Ye Chuanze gazed conflictedly at the wine glass in his hand. After a long moment of contemplation, he steeled himself and resignedly accepted the glass from Hongjun. He tilted his head back and downed it in one gulp. Placing the empty glass on the table, he looked at Hongjun with a calmness that followed a storm and said, "I'm done."
Hongjun did not respond but filled Ye Chuanze's glass again from the Wine Jug before looking up at him with an unspoken intent in his gaze.
Ye Chuanze stared at Hongjun's expressionless face, feeling a sharp twitch at the corner of his mouth as he sat there motionless for a while. Hongjun continued to watch him with indifference and said nothing, simply maintaining his gaze. After a long standoff between them, Ye Chuanze finally conceded; he silently looked away, inwardly cursing Hongjun for being so relentless! Then he picked up the wine glass and drank it all down.
Hongjun silently poured another glass for him without saying a word. This time Ye Chuanze offered no resistance and drank it down again as Hongjun filled his glass once more... This cycle continued repeatedly.
Just now, Ye Chuanze was trying to get Hongjun drunk by pouring him drinks, but the tables have turned, and now it is Ye Chuanze who is being forced to drink by Hongjun. Ye Chuanze's tolerance for alcohol is not as strong as Hongjun's, and since the last drink he had was poured by Hongjun, whose liquor is always potent and has a strong aftertaste, Ye Chuanze felt his face flush as he drank, his gaze becoming hazy and his speech slightly slurred.
"Master... I can't drink anymore, if I... keep drinking... I'll get drunk," Ye Chuanze stammered.
Hongjun glanced at his flushed cheeks and silently withdrew his hand that was pouring the drinks. If he got Ye Chuanze completely drunk and unconscious, it would be meaningless; they had finally met, and he didn't want to waste it in a drunken stupor.
Hongjun called for Yaochi to remove the wine set and bring in hot tea.
Before long, Yaochi had set up the tea set on the table and served hot tea.
Hongjun's hands were long and slender, with distinct joints and fair skin—very beautiful hands. Ye Chuanze glanced at them and recalled a saying he had heard: "A woman's hands are her second face." While this might not be entirely appropriate for Hongjun, if taken literally, both his first and second faces were indeed very handsome and captivating.
These seemingly delicate and harmless hands controlled the fate of beings in the Primordial realm, turning clouds and summoning rain, wielding power over all living things.
Now, these hands that held the power of life and death were pouring tea for Ye Chuanze. The fragrance of the tea wafted through the air, and just inhaling its aroma made Ye Chuanze feel revitalized, diminishing the effects of the alcohol.
"Drink some tea to sober up," Hongjun said in a cool voice.
Hearing this, Ye Chuanze looked at him but remained silent as he picked up the teacup. He thought to himself that now he remembers to help him sober up; why didn’t he show some mercy when pouring drinks earlier?
"Has Rahul been looking for you?" Hongjun suddenly asked.
Ye Chuanze choked on his tea at that moment. "Cough cough..." He coughed a few times before putting down the teacup. He felt completely unwell. After all this time, it turned out that Hongjun wasn't just causing trouble for no reason; he had something important waiting for him. The fact that Rahul was trying to poach him was known to Hongjun! Ye Chuanze felt like he had been cursed lately; his luck was terrible. Encountering Rahul was already unexpected enough, and now Hongjun knew about his meeting with Rahul. Rahul had openly stated that he wanted Ye Chuanze to join him in the Demon Realm—this was blatant poaching.
After pondering for a moment, he decided to tell the truth. Since Hongjun asked him this question, it meant he already knew something; he just didn't know how much he knew. There was no way to hide it from him, nor was there any need to do so. Hongjun was aware of the grievances between him and Rahul. "This is indeed true," Ye Chuanze said, then waited for Hongjun's reaction.
"What did he say to you?"
"He asked if I wanted to go with him to the Demon Realm." Ye Chuanze dropped a bombshell right away. He felt that with his small stature, he couldn't withstand Hongjun's wrath, so he decided to divert the blame elsewhere—better Rahul than himself. Facing a Demon Ancestor who was trying to poach him, Dao Ancestor should not hold back! If anything happened, it would be on him! Ye Chuanze thought unkindly.
Hongjun's gaze turned cold at the words, and his entire aura became imposing. He set down the teacup in his hand and glanced down at Ye Chuanze, noticing several fingerprints on the jade teacup. Ye Chuanze was taken aback; how could this teacup not be cracked? What kind of skill was required to leave fingerprints on a jade teacup without breaking it?
"Did you agree?" Hongjun asked expressionlessly, his voice icy.
Ye Chuanze immediately tensed up, his expression serious as he replied, "How could I agree? Since I have taken you as my master and am a disciple of Xuanmen, how could I possibly retreat into the demon realm and betray you? Such acts of disloyalty, unfiliality, and inhumanity are something I would never do." After a moment's thought, to express his determination, Ye Chuanze added solemnly, "In life, I am your disciple; in death, I am your... corpse."
Hongjun glanced at him but said nothing.
Although Hongjun still wore an expressionless face, Ye Chuanze could sense that his mood had improved significantly. He finally let out a sigh of relief, feeling fortunate to have survived a disaster; an angry Hongjun was truly terrifying! The pressure and intensity made it hard for him to breathe.
Hongjun took out a piece of silk and suddenly reached out to wipe Ye Chuanze's forehead with a surprisingly gentle motion. His tone was no longer so cold. "Look at you, drenched in sweat. Am I really that frightening?"
"...No! Absolutely not!" Ye Chuanze was startled by Hongjun's sudden action, feeling as if his heart might stop.
Hongjun carefully and earnestly wiped Ye Chuanze's forehead and only withdrew his hand after a long while.
"You did well; it comforts me greatly," Hongjun said. "If Rahul comes looking for you again, you need not pay him any mind. I will handle everything." As he spoke, a cold light flashed in Hongjun's eyes. Rahul... how dare you!
After the earlier intimidation, Ye Chuanze felt lingering fear. At this moment, he would agree to whatever Hongjun said. "I understand. In fact, I don't like Rahul either; our values clash... it's just that we are not on the same wavelength."
Hongjun looked at him thoughtfully upon hearing this. He felt that Ye Chuanze's personality and style were quite similar to Rahul's—both were carefree and somewhat arrogant. In truth, he found their styles to be quite incompatible with his own. This realization left him feeling displeased, causing his expression to turn cold once more.
Ye Chuanze watched nervously from the side as Hongjun's mood shifted rapidly from good to bad. Was he in a good mood or not? Having a master with such unpredictable temper was truly difficult for him!
Hongjun ignored Ye Chuanze's thoughts and sat there expressionlessly in silence for a long time before finally speaking coldly, "Why have you come today?"
Ye Chuanze felt moved to tears upon hearing this! After such a long digression and wasting so much time being frightened, they finally got to the point. He began to understand why Di Jun refused to come meet Hongjun at Purple Cloud Palace and insisted that he come instead. If he were Di Jun, he wouldn't dare come either! He felt that Di Jun must provide compensation; otherwise, he wouldn't do it! He was risking his life just to gather information!
Ye Chuanze briefly explained Di Jun's plan to build the Heavenly Palace to Hongjun and asked for his opinion. "Master, what do you think?"
Hongjun lowered his brows and remained silent for a long time after hearing this. After a while, he finally looked up at Ye Chuanze and said, "What do you think? Tell me your thoughts."
Ye Chuanze was somewhat surprised by the question but answered honestly, "I think it is a very good proposal. The demon race has many people, but their power is scattered. If Di Jun establishes the Heavenly Palace to unify the demons and consolidate their strength, it will become a vast and endless power. This will help the prosperity of the demon race and also assist in managing the demons, restraining their behavior."
The idea of Di Jun building the Heavenly Palace is beneficial to the demon race both in the present and as a long-term plan. Initially, when Sentient Beings were born, they operated as individuals. Later, with the formation of families, tribes emerged as populations grew, eventually leading to kingdoms. The power of an individual is limited and can be easily defeated, while the strength of a kingdom is formidable and cannot be easily overthrown from outside.
Regardless of the race, they will ultimately form kingdoms where emperors lead their people, and citizens defend their homeland, fighting for the peace and prosperity of their kind!
Upon hearing this, Hongjun closed his eyes slightly and said, "Tell Di Jun that I do not oppose him building the Heavenly Palace."
Ye Chuanze was overjoyed upon hearing this, his face lighting up with happiness.
Hongjun glanced at his expression but remained silent. The rise of the demon race is an inevitable trend, a matter of destiny. It is what it is! He realized that worrying further would be futile; his disciple was born as a demon, and his fate was closely tied to the demon race. His opportunities lie within them.
