After leaving the Purple Cloud Palace, the immortals realized they had been tricked by Hongjun. Where was the Treasure Cliff? Hongjun did not specify its exact location, only instructing the immortals to go and retrieve the treasure themselves. Once they exited the Purple Cloud Palace, the immortals stood on the clouds, gazing at the surrounding misty white clouds, feeling perplexed. Ye Chuanze was particularly frustrated; his actions had been too rash and thoughtless. Upon hearing that there were treasures at the Treasure Cliff and seeing the other immortals rush out, he hurriedly followed, fearing he would miss out on the treasures. He secretly asked Hongjun where the Treasure Cliff was located.
Outside the Thirty-Three Heavens, chaotic energy surged, and hidden dangers lurked within the mist. The unknown location of the Treasure Cliff left the Primordial Immortals troubled. Many immortals began to have second thoughts; after all, no treasure was worth more than their lives. If only they knew where the Treasure Cliff was, they could compete for it. However, at that moment, no one knew its whereabouts, and with chaotic energy raging around them, a moment's inattention could cost them their lives. Weighing their options, many immortals chose to turn back and leave.
Ye Chuanze, the Three Pure Ones, Di Jun, Fuxi, and others ventured into the bewildering mist to search for the Treasure Cliff. They were confident in their abilities; the chaotic energy of the Thirty-Three Heavens posed no threat to them. Naturally, they did not hesitate like other immortals who were filled with fear and ultimately decided to retreat.
About half an hour later, Ye Chuanze detected a strong fluctuation of spiritual energy ahead. He waved his hand to disperse the mist, and suddenly his eyes brightened as he found himself before none other than the Treasure Cliff, which concealed countless Spiritual Treasures.
Ye Chuanze hurried forward, eager to seize the opportunity and claim some excellent Innate Spiritual Treasures before other immortals arrived. However, upon reaching the Treasure Cliff, he discovered that the Three Pure Ones had already arrived early and were carefully selecting treasures from it. Seeing this, Ye Chuanze raised an eyebrow and said, "Brothers, treasures should not be chosen so meticulously; rather it should be done like this..." With that, he waved his sleeve and swept away most of the treasures from that place.
The Three Pure Ones were momentarily taken aback by this but then Laozi cupped his hands toward Ye Chuanze and said, "I have learned from you!" After saying this, he also waved his sleeve and took away a batch of treasures.
At that moment, Jieyin, Zhun Ti, Di Jun, Taiyi, Fuxi, and Nuwa arrived one after another. Seeing Ye Chuanze and the Three Pure Ones so brazenly taking countless treasures made them anxious. Zhun Ti was the first to act as well; he also swept away a large number of treasures without falling behind Ye Chuanze or the Three Pure Ones. Di Jun and Fuxi saw this and quickly joined in without any pretense or courtesy, hastily taking away large amounts of treasures.
In an instant, countless treasures from the Treasure Cliff were divided among the immortals, leaving behind an empty cliff.
As they saw that the Treasure Cliff had turned into a barren cliff, those who obtained treasures returned contentedly.
However, Laozi stood in place with a contemplative expression. After a while, he waved his hand intending to take in this Treasure Cliff but found that someone had beaten him to it— Ye Chuanze had already claimed it. Turning around to look back, he saw Ye Chuanze smiling brightly at him.
Laozi felt regretful; he had been a moment too slow.
"Thank you for your generosity!" Ye Chuanze said to Laozi.
Laozi listened and, with a calm expression, said lightly, "Junior brother, no need to be polite!" After saying this, he turned and left.
At that moment, Fuxi and Nuwa approached. Fuxi said, "Let's return to Buzhou Mountain together!"
Ye Chuanze thought for a moment and replied, "Wait a moment, let's first visit the Purple Cloud Palace before heading back."
Upon hearing this, Fuxi felt puzzled but did not ask further; instead, he followed Ye Chuanze back to the Purple Cloud Palace, with Nuwa naturally accompanying them.
Meanwhile, Jieyin and Zhun Ti were happily returning after obtaining their treasures. Halfway through their journey, Zhun Ti suddenly realized something was off! The time for the sermon was incorrect; Hongjun had only spoken for two thousand years about Dao Law. Alarmed, Zhun Ti quickly informed Jieyin of this matter, and the two hurriedly made their way back to the Purple Cloud Palace.
Di Jun and Taiyi had originally set off as well, but Di Jun, being cautious by nature, noticed that Ye Chuanze, Fuxi, and Nuwa had not followed them after traveling quite a distance. Considering the relationship between Ye Chuanze and Hongjun, Di Jun began to have suspicions. Upon further reflection, he realized something was amiss; Hongjun's sermon time was not yet over! Thus, the two quickly turned around and headed back to the Purple Cloud Palace.
Hongjun sat atop the Lotus Platform, observing everyone in the hall with raised eyebrows. In addition to the originally designated Three Pure Ones, Nuwa, Jieyin, and Zhun Ti, there were now four more: Ye Chuanze, Fuxi, Di Jun, and Taiyi. While Fuxi was expected to stay since Nuwa remained, Di Jun and Taiyi were unexpected guests; he hadn't anticipated their presence.
Hongjun glanced at Ye Chuanze sitting below with an innocent expression; it must have been his doing. Well! Everything is fate; it all depends on personal connections and opportunities! As Hongjun was about to merge with the Dao and had a close connection with the Heavenly Dao, he understood that due to Ye Chuanze's influence, changes in heavenly secrets had occurred. The Heavenly Dao would inevitably take note of Ye Chuanze's actions; however, Hongjun casually dismissed this matter with a few words.
No one knows why the Heavenly Dao acts as it does. Even Hongjun would not dare to speak recklessly about it. Yet he knew that the Heavenly Dao was not omnipotent and had its limitations. It was precisely for this reason that the Heavenly Dao needed him to represent it in overseeing the Primordial Three Thousand Right Paths.
Under the Heavenly Dao, major trends cannot be altered, but minor ones can be changed.
"This time I will lecture for three thousand years; there is still one thousand years remaining. What I will discuss next is the path to becoming a saint..." Hongjun began to speak about Dao Law.
To become a saint requires Primordial Purple Qi, opportunity, and understanding of the path to sainthood. All three are indispensable.
Primordial Purple Qi had already been distributed by Hongjun to the Three Pure Ones and others. Now, he intended to pass on the final path to sanctification to them. According to the established heavenly will, only the Three Pure Ones, Jieyin, Zhun Ti, and Nüwa, the six ordained Sages, were supposed to have the opportunity to hear this path to sanctification. However, due to his selfish motives, Hongjun secretly advised Ye Chuanze not to rush away after obtaining the treasures, but to return to the Purple Cloud Palace. Little did he expect that this would also lead Fuxi, Di Jun, and Taiyi to stay behind and hear about the path to sanctification.
As a result, it was likely that Di Jun, Taiyi, Nüwa, and Fuxi would become even more determined to obtain the Primordial Purple Qi in Red Cloud's possession. The situation in the Primordial realm became even more chaotic, aligning perfectly with Hongjun's calculations.
Because of Ye Chuanze, one aspect of the heavenly mechanism was thrown into disarray, making the future of the Primordial realm unclear. On another front, it also aligned with Hongjun's intentions, making his plans even more perfect. This bittersweet outcome left Hongjun in a position where he could neither laugh nor cry.
A thousand years passed in the blink of an eye in the Primordial realm.
Hongjun stopped his teachings and glanced at those who remained to listen, saying, "This lecture ends here. From now on, it will depend on your own fortunes. Remember that the path to sanctification is elusive; what matters most is opportunity. Without opportunity, even if you hold the foundation of the path to sanctification, the Primordial Purple Qi, you will still have no connection to the position of a Sage."
These words from Hongjun carried implications that resonated differently among those present.
The Three Pure Ones felt that Hongjun was reminding them that what they needed for sanctification was opportunity.
However, for Di Jun, it implied that even if Red Cloud possessed the Primordial Purple Qi, he was destined not to achieve sanctification; that position of a Saint must belong to him! Listening to what Hongjun spoke about the path to sanctification only confirmed his connection to the position of a Sage. Although Red Cloud had the Primordial Purple Qi, he lacked the opportunity to hear about this path from Hongjun. Therefore, it seemed unlikely that he could become a Saint. The position of a Saint should be his; that Primordial Purple Qi should be his!
As for Ye Chuanze, he was indifferent. He believed he could not achieve sanctification; he only listened to what Hongjun taught as a reference for his own cultivation methods. Unlike Di Jun, he did not obsess over becoming a Saint. The status of a Sage was too lofty and came with too many burdens—he could not bear it!
At this moment, those obsessed with the position of a Saint among the Primordial Immortals focused solely on the power and reverence of a Sage without recognizing the responsibilities they would bear. Even among the six ordained Sages—Three Pure Ones, Jieyin, Zhun Ti, and Nüwa—there was no awareness of the responsibilities they would face in the future. At this time, they had not yet achieved sanctification; their thoughts were limited by their immediate circumstances.
Only when one stands in a corresponding position can they understand what responsibilities come with that role.
Hongjun looked at Ye Chuanze and said, "You have always acted recklessly and love causing trouble. Now that you are leaving the Purple Cloud Palace, you should temper your demeanor and not cause me worry."
Ye Chuanze, hearing this, couldn't help but express his dissatisfaction, saying, "Master, I have always been kind to others. How could there be any talk of causing trouble?"
Hongjun frowned and said sharply, "Don't try to argue! I know your temperament all too well. Right now, you are reckless and bold. Once you leave Purple Cloud Palace today, you will likely roam freely and attract many enemies!"
Upon hearing this, Ye Chuanze's expression turned awkward, and he couldn't help but mutter to himself, How accurate! How does Hongjun know what I am thinking? After finally achieving human form, he no longer has to be cautious and fearful like before; he can finally hold his head high! Ye Chuanze decided to be a bit more ostentatious since he had the Dao Ancestor backing him—no one would dare offend him!
"If you dare to act recklessly outside and cause trouble, I will confine you to Purple Cloud Palace and not allow you to step outside even once!" Hongjun said coldly.
Ye Chuanze was unsure whether Hongjun was serious or just speaking casually. However, he immediately composed himself and respectfully replied, "Disciple dares not; I will certainly obey Master’s orders!"
Only then did Hongjun soften his expression and waved his hand to the crowd, saying, "You all may leave! From today onward, Purple Cloud Palace will close its doors. In the future, do not disturb my peace unless necessary."
Upon hearing this, everyone replied in unison, "Yes."
After exiting Purple Cloud Palace, everyone bid their farewells in various ways. Ye Chuanze also returned to Buzhou Mountain with Fuxi and Nuwa.
The great doors of Purple Cloud Palace slowly closed. Hongjun stood atop the high tower, watching the departing figures of the crowd with a gradually somber expression. He stood motionless for a long time, gazing into the distance, his silhouette taking on a hint of loneliness.
Dressed in purple robes like a figure from a painting, he was frozen in that moment.
