A sudden shout made Nüwa pause her movements and retract her hand. Two fair-skinned Daoists approached from a distance, one wearing a gray robe and the other in a golden robe. Their attire, distinct from that of Eastern cultivators, made it easy for Nüwa and Fuxi to recognize that these two were from the West. Nüwa's expression was puzzled as she asked, "I wonder what guidance you have, fellow Daoists?"
"I am Zhun Ti, and this is my senior brother Jieyin," said the Daoist in the golden robe with a kind smile.
Fuxi responded with a gentle smile, "I am Fuxi, and this is my sister Nüwa."
Zhun Ti glanced at the warm and gentle Fuxi, a glint of sharpness flashing in his eyes, but his expression remained unchanged, still wearing that kind smile. He said, "I have calculated that there is something here that is fated to be with me, so I came to seek it out. It seems that what is fated to me is this Innate Spiritual Root!"
Nüwa, known for her straightforward temperament, immediately retorted, "You shameless Daoist! This spiritual root was clearly discovered by us first; how can you claim it as yours?"
Zhun Ti was not angered by her words and continued to smile, "We are not late in arriving."
Nüwa became furious upon hearing this; she snorted coldly and said, "Are you planning to take it by force?"
"Not at all! This was originally mine; how could there be talk of stealing?" Zhun Ti replied.
Inside the Twelve-Grade Black Lotus, the soul state of Ye Chuanze clicked his tongue. The duo from the West who would later become infamous as Primordial robbers indeed had thick skin! They could come up with such excuses.
"Utter nonsense! Not a single word of truth! Enough chatter; if you want to fight, then let’s fight!" Nüwa said impatiently, her anger evident.
Nüwa summoned her treasure, the Red Embroidery Ball, while Zhun Ti summoned his treasure, the Seven Treasures Mysterious Tree. The two engaged in battle. After several exchanges, neither side gained an advantage.
Seeing that the fight with Nüwa had reached a stalemate, Zhun Ti began to calculate. Nüwa's strength seemed to be on par with his own, and she had an unknown-strength Fuxi by her side. On the other hand, he and Jieyin were also two against two. It would not be advantageous to continue fighting over this Innate Spiritual Root. Although it was precious, it was not worth provoking two formidable opponents.
Zhun Ti's interest in this spiritual root was not for the same reasons as Nüwa's; he sought it for personal gain. The value of the Innate Spiritual Root lay in its immense benefits for immortal cultivators—its leaves, roots, and fruits were all edible and could enhance magical power, heal injuries, and be used in alchemy. It was comparable to several renowned Innate Spiritual Roots from later generations, such as Ginseng Fruit—one of the top ten Innate Spiritual Roots—and Peach of Immortality—also among the top ten Innate Spiritual Roots.
Zhun Ti realized that he could not gain any advantage and was unwilling to continue battling with Nuwa. In this vast Eastern land, there was no shortage of rare Spiritual Treasures and Innate Spiritual Roots, and he had no need to provoke two strong enemies over a root that was not even considered top-tier. Thus, he took a step back, recalled his magical artifact, and said, "Since you cherish this spiritual root so much, I shall concede today and not compete with you!"
Nuwa snorted coldly upon hearing this, feeling as though he was implying that he was intentionally letting her have it. Clearly, she had discovered this treasure first, while they were the ones who came later to seize it! However, since Zhun Ti had already spoken and made concessions, Nuwa would not press the issue further; she simply wore a displeased expression. She extracted the spiritual root and stored it in her bag before turning to leave, genuinely unwilling to see these two Daoists from the West again.
Seeing his sister leave, Fuxi followed after her.
Zhun Ti and Jieyin stood in place, watching them depart. Zhun Ti smiled as he observed Fuxi and Nuwa leaving, his gaze landing on Fuxi's shoulder. Suddenly, his eyes lit up, his expression turned serious, and the smile vanished from his face as he nearly shouted, "Please wait, friend!"
Upon hearing the shout, Fuxi and Nuwa instinctively stopped in their tracks.
Zhun Ti hurried forward and said to Fuxi, "I have divined that there is a spiritual object here that is fated to be with me; it appears to be the Twelfth-Grade Annihilation Black Lotus on your shoulder!"
"……" Fuxi.
"……" Nuwa.
"……" Ye Chuanze.
Is this what it feels like to be caught in the crossfire? Ye Chuanze thought to himself.
The first to regain composure was Nuwa. Having just dealt with Zhun Ti, she understood his nature; he would try to claim anything valuable for himself and had an incredibly thick skin, always able to come up with a plethora of nonsensical arguments. Thus, Nuwa bluntly replied, "Did you not just say that the spiritual root was the object fated for you? The Twelfth-Grade Annihilation Black Lotus has nothing to do with you; stop daydreaming!"
Upon hearing this, Zhun Ti remained unfazed and cheerfully replied, "The spiritual root has already been obtained by you, so it is naturally not fated for me. What is currently fated for me is indeed the Twelfth-Grade Annihilation Black Lotus on your shoulder."
"Since the Twelfth-Grade Annihilation Black Lotus is on me, it is naturally fated for me. Zhun Ti, you… have lost your mind!" Fuxi said with a gentle smile; when it came to acting, he was no less skilled than anyone else.
"The one who has lost their mind is you, Fuxi. Since you refuse to part with it, I will not hold back!" With that, Zhun Ti summoned his magical artifact and called out, "Senior brother, come help!"
The Guide Daoist, who had been quietly standing by like a statue, slowly walked over and summoned his magical artifact, trembling alongside Fuxi.
Zhun Ti faced Nüwa, while Jieyin confronted Fuxi. The four of them fought fiercely in the depths of the mountains, with dust and stones flying everywhere.
This battle was unlike the previous one; all four were using their true abilities. Zhun Ti was determined to obtain the Twelfth-Grade Annihilation Black Lotus, putting in even more effort. However, Nüwa was enraged by Zhun Ti's shameless attempts to seize the treasure and unconsciously began to beat him mercilessly. As for Jieyin, his movements appeared slow, but he was tightly entangled with Fuxi, unable to shake him off. It seemed that Jieyin's cultivation was much superior to that of his junior brother, Fuxi thought to himself.
The fight continued from noon until dusk, with no clear victor among the four.
Fuxi, Nüwa, Jieyin, and Zhun Ti all wore grim expressions. How long would this continue? Yet none of them were willing to back down or give in, insisting on fighting to the bitter end.
Inside the Twelfth-Grade Annihilation Black Lotus, the soul-state Ye Chuanze lazily yawned, realizing that this battle had dragged on for quite some time. Having enjoyed a show more exciting than a Hollywood blockbuster, Ye Chuanze felt quite satisfied. Such fantasy films often lacked a crucial character who could turn the tide of the situation, and this important figure usually made a dazzling entrance amidst everyone's attention.
Ye Chuanze felt it was time for him to make his appearance.
While the four were engaged in their fierce battle, none noticed that the mini version of the Twelfth-Grade Annihilation Black Lotus, which had been quietly resting on Fuxi's shoulder, was slowly floating away from him.
The Twelfth-Grade Annihilation Black Lotus floated in mid-air, its body growing larger and larger, with layers of dark petals resembling jade, translucent and shimmering with purple-black light. This phenomenon finally caught the attention of the four combatants. Startled by this sudden event, they all stopped fighting and looked up at the magnificent Supreme Innate Spiritual Treasure, Twelfth Rank, World-Destruction Black Lotus.
None noticed that as Fuxi gazed at the Twelfth-Grade Annihilation Black Lotus, a slight smirk appeared at the corner of his mouth, revealing a hint of schadenfreude. Based on his understanding of Ye Chuanze, it seemed that those two Western Daoists were about to face misfortune.
Suddenly, the previously still floating Twelfth-Grade Annihilation Black Lotus moved swiftly to the right, heading straight towards where Zhun Ti Dao Ren stood. Immersed in the beauty and power radiating from the lotus, Zhun Ti Dao Ren was jolted awake upon seeing this massive flower descending towards his head. A chill ran through him—his life was in danger!
With a loud "thud," the enormous Black Lotus struck hard against Zhun Ti Dao Ren's bald head.
Staggering unsteadily, a streak of bright red blood appeared on his forehead; however, he ultimately did not fall and stood upright in place without moving.
"Junior Brother!" The usually stoic Guide Daoist's expression changed drastically as he shouted and hurried over to support Zhun Ti Dao Ren.
Ye Chuanze, satisfied after smashing Zhun Ti Dao Ren's head until it bled, shrank in size and wobbled over to Fuxi, once again resting on Fuxi's white-clad shoulder. After a moment of thought, Ye Chuanze shouted at Zhun Ti Dao Ren, "You thought you could take advantage of me! Do you think I'm that easy to bully? Even without hands or feet, I can still make you bleed!"
Zhun Ti Dao Ren, already heavily injured from Ye Chuanze's earlier strike, felt a surge of anger upon hearing this and spat out blood. He never expected to be outsmarted by an Innate Spiritual Treasure today.
"Junior Brother!" Seeing him spit blood, Guide Daoist's expression turned anxious.
"It's nothing; Senior Brother need not worry," Zhun Ti Dao Ren said as he wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth to reassure him. He then suppressed his anger and looked at Ye Chuanze on Fuxi's shoulder, saying, "I didn't know you had gained sentience. I apologize for my earlier offense."
"Those who are unaware are not at fault. Since you didn't know I had gained sentience, I won't hold your offense against you," Ye Chuanze generously forgave him.
With his head bleeding from the blow, Zhun Ti Dao Ren's expression was understandably grim. He cupped his hands toward Fuxi and the others and said, "Let's put today's matter behind us. I have important business to attend to, so I shall take my leave."
After saying this, he departed with Guide Daoist.
Watching Zhun Ti and Jieyin leave, Nuwa praised Ye Chuanze with an appreciative tone, "Well done!"
"Hehe!" Ye Chuanze chuckled proudly.
