Since the last battle with Hongjun, Rahul had been in a state of low spirits for a long time, his expression consistently dark and frightening. He relentlessly tracked Hongjun's whereabouts, seeking him out for fights every few days. Each time he returned from these encounters, he was covered in injuries, and then he would sulk in the Cave to recover, waiting for his wounds to heal before heading out again to find Hongjun for another fight, repeating this cycle endlessly.
Rahul stood gloomily in the room, reaching to remove his bloodstained clothing, revealing his lean and muscular physique. His honey-colored skin was marked with several scars left by blades and swords, with fresh blood seeping from some still-unhealed wounds. He took out a medicine bottle and poured out some hemostatic powder to treat his injuries. There were a few wounds on his back that were difficult for him to reach, and he suddenly spoke up, "Black Lotus, it wouldn't be bad if you could take human form. If I get hurt in the future, you could help me apply medicine."
Ye Chuanze snorted at this and replied coldly, "Not only can I help you with your wounds, but I can also collect your body!"
Rahul wasn't angered by this; instead, he said, "Then let's make that agreement! If I die, you will help me collect my body."
"That is only if you can wait until the day I take form. So... live well! Don't die before I take form."
"Haha..." Rahul chuckled darkly a few times. "I'm not that easy to kill."
Ye Chuanze looked at the injured Rahul without commenting. Although Rahul always returned with new injuries after fighting Hongjun, Hongjun was not faring any better. The injuries Hongjun sustained were no less severe than Rahul's; the two were evenly matched in strength, unable to determine a clear winner. Each battle ended with both of them exhausted, neither able to gain an advantage over the other.
However, both Rahul and Hongjun were very dissatisfied with this outcome; they both wanted to settle their scores once and for all. Both Rahul and Hongjun could be considered men standing at the pinnacle of Primordial, but there could only be one king—never two. Therefore, it was inevitable that a victor would emerge between Rahul and Hongjun. This was why Rahul continued to challenge Hongjun time and again, and Hongjun had never refused his invitations to fight. As Rahul had once said, "You are just like me, Hongjun."
A few days later, when Rahul's injuries had mostly healed, he took up the God-Slaying Spear and rode the Twelfth-Grade Annihilation Black Lotus out of the Cave to seek out Hongjun for another fight.
The Purple-Clad Daoist's handsome face bore a calm expression as he looked at Rahul with steady eyes and spoke in a cold voice: "I wondered who was following behind; turns out it's a mad dog drawn by scent."
Rahul revealed a bloody smile on his face and spoke with a hint of ferocity: "Cut the nonsense! Let's get straight to fighting!"
Upon hearing this, Hongjun scoffed disdainfully.
Rahul swung his spear with tremendous force towards Hongjun. Observing Rahul's attack coming at him, Hongjun held a cold sword in his hand, shifted his stance slightly, and raised his hand to block Rahul's spear.
The powerful gust of wind from the incoming attack whipped through Hongjun's long hair like a tempest, yet his expression remained unchanged as he gazed coldly ahead.
Rahul's spear was blocked by Hongjun's cold sword, and his expression immediately turned fierce. He slightly raised his eyes, and their gazes met; Hongjun's eyes were icy and filled with killing intent. Rahul suddenly laughed, licking the corner of his lips. "Hongjun, you really should take a look at your face right now; your killing intent is so twisted that you hardly look like a noble immortal."
Upon hearing this, Hongjun's expression darkened instantly. He took a few steps back and swung his cold sword, unleashing a wave of icy and murderous sword intent that surged towards Rahul like a battering ram.
"Hah... finally unable to hold your composure? It seems you are not as indifferent and noble as you appear!"
In the end, the fight concluded as usual in a stalemate.
Rahul, covered in wounds, leisurely made his way back to the Cave on the Twelfth-Grade Annihilation Black Lotus, his expression grim.
"You seem to always enjoy provoking him?" Ye Chuanze remarked, the identity of "him" being obvious.
"Haha..." A dark chuckle escaped Rahul. "Don't you find that cold, indifferent expression of his, devoid of desire, quite annoying?"
After a moment of silence, Ye Chuanze replied softly, "Indeed."
"Clearly yearning more than anyone else yet pretending to be so noble and unattached; it truly makes one want to tear off his disguise!"
*******
Rahul was strong; Ye Chuanze had always known this. However, he did not realize just how powerful Rahul had become. Ever since Rahul clashed with Hongjun, he had repeatedly astonished Ye Chuanze with his strength, which exceeded all expectations. Could it be that he truly possessed the legendary resilience that grew stronger when faced with adversity? As for Hongjun, who stood against Rahul, his strength was no less impressive.
If Rahul's power was like Mount Tai—tall and unshakeable—then Hongjun's strength was like the ocean—deep and unfathomable. No one could truly know how strong Hongjun was; just when one thought they had reached his limit, he would unexpectedly unleash even greater power, making it impossible to gauge his true capabilities. Time and again, Rahul pushed Hongjun to his limits but was also repeatedly repelled by Hongjun's explosive strength.
Ye Chuanze deeply felt that an opponent like Hongjun was the most dangerous because one could never truly know his depths. It was unwise to be enemies with someone as inscrutable as Hongjun.
Inside the Twelfth-Grade Annihilation Black Lotus, where Rahul had been left aside, Ye Chuanze in a soul state watched Rahul reclining on a soft couch with a jug of wine in hand, lost in drunken stupor. Unable to hold back, he spoke up: "Do you really intend to kill Hongjun? I have a feeling he is not that easy to deal with."
Rahul raised a Wine Jug with one hand and tilted his head back, pouring the cold, sweet wine into his mouth in large gulps. Some of the golden liquid spilled from the corner of his lips, tracing down his honey-colored neck and flowing over his collarbone, dampening the front of his shirt. He shook the empty Wine Jug in his hand and tossed it aside, speaking in a lazy, hoarse tone, "Of course, I have to kill him. Only one of us can live. What? Are you reluctant?"
Ye Chuanze felt a tightening in his chest but replied with a calm and cold voice, "Are you joking? I don't even know that Hongjun, so why would I feel reluctant?"
"Haha..." A low, deep laugh escaped Rahul's throat, and he said with apparent delight, "True, I was mistaken. You must really want Hongjun dead since you are so greedy for wealth. If Hongjun dies, all his treasures will naturally belong to you. Hmm... as you would say, a powerful immortal like Hongjun must have excellent treasures."
Upon hearing this, Ye Chuanze felt as if something was stuck in his throat...
After a moment, he coldly replied, "Do you think you know me well?"
Rahul did not respond but leaned back on the soft couch, lazily saying, "Don't worry, I will kill Hongjun. All his treasures will be yours." After a pause, he added with a hint of helplessness and indulgence in his voice, "I won't compete with you for them. I really don't understand why you have such a penchant for collecting treasures."
Ye Chuanze felt frustrated and coldly retorted, "What does it matter to you!"
"Really... such a bad temper," Rahul shook his head helplessly.
The atmosphere was unusually peaceful and serene as Rahul leaned back on the soft couch, lost in thought. After a long while, he finally spoke up, "Black Lotus, you actually know Hongjun, don't you?"
Ye Chuanze fell silent, pretending to be indifferent.
"Tsk... ignoring me again," Rahul said seemingly helplessly. "Have you noticed? Whenever you're feeling guilty, you always ignore me like this."
"Hmph! Who says I'm feeling guilty!"
"Alright, alright... you're not feeling guilty," Rahul shook his head indulgently. Lost in thought for a moment, he revealed a faint smile at the corner of his lips.
Neither of them spoke again as they fell into silence.
After a long time, Rahul calmly said, "Hongjun, although he looks a bit fake, is still a strong individual. His strength is formidable, and his character is trustworthy, hmm... he's just slightly weaker than me."
"Ha!" Ye Chuanze couldn't help but laugh mockingly at this.
"Black Lotus, if... if I die, you should follow him!" Rahul suddenly said.
Ye Chuanze's expression turned cold, and he replied icily, "Aren't you confident that you can kill him?"
"Until the last moment, no one can guarantee they will be the final winner, especially against someone as difficult as Hongjun."
"So this is your dying wish?"
"I suppose so!" Rahul nodded decisively. "If I win against him, you'll naturally continue to follow me. If I lose, then you should follow him! Hongjun will treat you well."
"Heh..." Ye Chuanze sneered. "Don't worry; if you die, I'll naturally leave you behind and escape."
Hearing this, Rahul shook his head with a helpless yet indulgent tone, as if soothing a temperamental child. "Black Lotus, stop messing around. There are countless immortals in Primordial who covet you; your strength isn't enough to protect yourself. If I die, follow Hongjun; he has the ability to protect you. Don't you want to cultivate into a human form? Then take good care of yourself. The vastness of Primordial holds countless powerful immortals; just because I can't erase your consciousness doesn't mean others can't."
Ye Chuanze fell silent for a moment before coldly retorting, "Mind your own business!"
"Be obedient, Black Lotus. Stop messing around; behave!"
