"Don't panic! Everyone, stay alert and signal the camp that there is a situation in this direction!" Unlike the ordinary soldiers who were tense, Hu Fan managed to keep his composure, although doubts began to arise in his mind.
This doesn't seem right.
Where did these people come from? What are they doing here?
If they were nearby deities who came out of curiosity because they saw an Army stationed here, no one would believe that. They were clearly approaching without any caution; at the very least, they didn't seem to have good intentions.
However, if they were here to attack their camp, that also seemed off. "Do not initiate an attack yet. You few, follow me to assess the situation," Hu Fan said before taking off with his sword.
The soldiers under him exchanged worried glances. However, no matter how much they looked at each other, there was nothing they could do. This was wartime; even though their Xuanmen was usually the most lenient and free-spirited during peacetime, there could be no leniency at this moment!
"Stop right there!" Hu Fan shouted coldly as he hovered in mid-air. "This is the camp of Xuanmen and Holy Divine Gate. If you come any closer, do not blame us for being ruthless!"
"Brothers of Xuanmen! Brothers of Holy Divine Gate! Do not attack; we are from the Wanderer Sect! Help us!"
In such a situation, the name of the Wanderer Sect would not ease their tension; instead, it might make them more vigilant. However, the last plea for help left them stunned.
"What’s going on?" Seeing two elders rush forward, Hu Fan decided to ask them directly instead of questioning others: "What is happening in the Northern Qian Mountain Range? Since you are from the Game God Sect, how did things end up like this? Where is your Master Zong?"
"It's bad! The Evil Extermination Sect has allied with the Demon Clan! Our Master of Victory was ambushed by Brahma Demon King while fighting that old bastard from North Heaven and is now missing. Moreover, within our Game God Sect, traitors bribed by the Evil Extermination Sect have emerged! These few should be brothers from Xuanmen, right? Our Master of the Wanderer Sect is unaccounted for, our internal structure is collapsing, and even our stronghold has been taken by the enemy. Hearing such serious news left Hu Fan stunned as well; his earlier calmness vanished in an instant.
"I... I can't make that decision! We need to report this situation to the True Navigation Sect Master quickly."
"Alright, I'll go with you. The True Navigator has always been known for his benevolence among our deities; I believe he will not turn a blind eye."
At that moment, dark smoke suddenly rose in the distance, indicating that countless armies were approaching. Behind the fleeing soldiers of the Game God Sect, a chorus of wails and cries echoed.
"Senior Brother! The situation is urgent. Please allow our disciples from the Game God Sect to enter the defenses of the main camp for refuge; otherwise, they will all die!" Seeing this scene, the elder from the Game God Sect who had come to report pleaded desperately.
"This..." Hu Fan began to hesitate. He certainly could not take responsibility for such an order, but given the current situation, it would take considerable time just to notify Master True Navigation or even to let the two brothers stationed here make a decision. By then, who knows how many from the Game God Sect would perish? Moreover, the army of the Demon Clan was still far from their main camp. Thus, True Navigator called her over to discuss their next steps.
Just then, they noticed chaos beginning to erupt outside the main camp. They had just dispatched two elders to investigate when Hu Fan flew in on his sword.
"Hu Fan, junior brother! That area is your defensive zone, right? What on earth happened? Why is it in such disarray? Is it possible that the Demon Clan has attacked?"
"Sort of... but not exactly," Hu Fan sighed deeply. "The people from Game God Sect have arrived; however, they are being pursued by the Demon Clan. I saw that the situation was urgent, so I allowed them to enter for refuge while instructing other junior brothers there to remain vigilant and defend against any advance by the army of the Demon Clan."
"What! You have already let them in?" Jiang Xue exclaimed in shock.
"Indeed," Hu Fan said uneasily as he glanced at Jiang Xue. No matter how obedient she was to True Navigator, she was not one of Xuanmen; why should she speak to him like this as an elder of Xuanmen? "In that situation, we had no choice. Besides, even if we let them in, what of it? After learning from our previous lesson, we will not allow these fleeing soldiers to affect our defenses again. If the Demon Clan thinks they can take advantage of this tactic again, they are only asking for trouble."
True Navigator understood this point and smiled as he explained to Jiang Xue: "Since our last great battle, both Xuanmen and Holy Divine Gate have strengthened this particular weakness accordingly. Moreover, special measures have been taken during this deployment regarding this issue; thus, you need not worry too much."
"What I'm worried about is not this at all!" Jiang Xue could no longer care about her status at this moment; she pointed angrily in that direction and shouted: "Right now we haven't received any news from Heavenly Binding Sect Master; we know nothing about Game God Sect's situation. Who can guarantee that they are still our allies?"
