“Lin Yiran!”
“You gave the jade bracelet to me.”
Lin Yiran kicked me in the chest: “You treasure a broken jade bracelet so much.”
“Jiang Hai, is it because that old fool is important that you can throw away your dignity?”
“Anyway, she’s going to die, so it’s better for her to die sooner.”
“I’ll call the hospital right now, tell them to stop the medication and kick her out.”
“I want to see how long she can hold on.”
“Shut up!”
I grabbed Lin Yiran by the neck and pushed her down onto the bed.
“You dare!”
Lin Yiran gasped for air: “Jiang Hai... let go of me...”
Lin Yiran struggled desperately.
I released my grip and threw her aside.
Lin Yiran fell to the ground, clutching her neck and coughing.
“Jiang Hai, you actually laid hands on me for that old fool.”
“Just wait, I will make you pay for this.”
Lin Yiran took out her phone and dialed the hospital.
“Hello, this is Lin Yiran, you need to stop Jiang Hai’s medication immediately.”
“What? She passed away a week ago?”
“Okay, I understand.”
Lin Yiran hung up the phone, staring blankly at me.
I leaned closer, locking eyes with her: “Did you hear that clearly?”
“My mom is already dead.”
"Lin Yiran, is this what you call love?"
"Your love killed my mother."
Lin Yiran shook her head desperately. "It's not like that."
"Jiang Hai, I didn't know she... and besides, wasn't she supposed to..."
I interrupted her, "If you want to marry me, fine."
"You kneel down and beg me like a dog."
"Then I'll marry you."
Lin Yiran's eyes widened.
I smiled lightly. "Not willing?"
"Then why were you willing when I needed money?"
"Lin Yiran, in this world, no one has the right to humiliate others at will."
"That includes you."
Lin Yiran opened her mouth, speechless, and turned to run outside.
I relaxed my grip and collapsed onto the ground.
Days of fatigue and stress left me utterly drained.
On the way back, I fainted.
When I woke up again, I was lying on a hospital bed.
I heard Lin Yiran sobbing nearby.
Someone was holding my hand.
I slowly opened my eyes and saw Lin Yiran's face.
Seeing that I was awake, she quickly wiped away her tears.
"Jiang Hai, how do you feel?"
"Is there anywhere that doesn't feel right?"
"Should I call a doctor?"
I looked at her, remaining silent.
Lin Yiran held my hand tightly, her face as colorful as a calico cat.
I could tell her feelings were genuine.
But so what?
The hurt she caused me was real too.
I smiled lightly:
"Lin Yiran, did you think that only the people you care about are human?"
"Are the others just dogs?"
Lin Yiran's face turned pale: "Jiang Hai, that's not what I meant."
"I just care too much about you."
"You care about me? Lin Yiran, don't you feel guilty saying that?"
"You know very well what Chen Duo did to me, yet you still humiliated me in front of him."
"You made me kneel before him, lick his shoes, and treat him like a deity."
"When did you ever see me as a person?"
Lin Yiran lowered her eyes: "I'm sorry, Jiang Hai."
"I was wrong."
"I truly realize my mistake now."
"Jiang Hai, I will treat you better in the future."
I shook my head: "Lin Yiran, I've already signed the divorce agreement."
"I'm also willing to leave with nothing."
