The news of Wang Hao's suicide quickly reached An Xiaotian and others. Qin Weishan found it strange and asked many questions about the scene over the phone. In contrast, An Xiaotian was not surprised by the incident; to him, Wang Hao's death erased everyone's uncertainty about his identity.
Liu Xuan did not participate in the pursuit that day, but he rushed to the scene as soon as he received the news. Watching several people in white coats clean up the room, Liu Xuan discussed with Nars and suggested that Jiao An let the people on site take Wang Hao's body away for forensic examination. Nars believed he could personally identify Wang Hao's body structure; if it was not human, then Wang Hao's claim of being an internal Human from the moon could be considered a fact.
"What did you say? Personally identify?" Liu Xuan realized something and exclaimed, "Don't tell me you want to take me to the dissection site?!"
Thinking about observing a naked human liver up close, the bloody scene seemed to flash before his eyes, causing Liu Xuan to feel a wave of nausea and instinctively clutch his stomach.
"Don't tell me you're afraid of this?" Nars retorted in a similar tone, seemingly mocking him. "I've taken you to blow open so many enemies; how many monsters did you dismember during the zombie war? Now you're scared just to see an ordinary corpse?"
"No... it's different; it's not the same." Liu Xuan said while watching them cover Wang Hao's body with a white cloth before moving it onto a stretcher and carrying it outside, feeling uneasy.
"What?" Jiao An couldn't hear what Liu Xuan and Nars were discussing internally, but Liu Xuan had just spoken out loud.
"I... we were saying that this Wang Hao is different from those internal Humans we encountered before." Liu Xuan made up an excuse; he simply didn't want Sister Jiao An to look down on him for being afraid to see the dissection.
"Let's go; we're going to see the body now." Nars, aware of Liu Xuan's thoughts, deliberately teased him, "Don't let Sister Jiao An think you're some weakling."
"This isn't about being weak!" Liu Xuan insisted on maintaining his image as he followed behind the stretcher team, arguing with Nars in his mind. "Am I weak? Just ask Ma Yihan!"
"I think Ma Yihan would buy you some delay oil."
"Okay. You can shut up now."
"You often tell me that during human mating processes, the male lead must have used delay oil, and then..."
"Shut up."
After receiving approval, Liu Xuan entered the operating room with the forensic experts. Before entering, he took a deep breath at the door as if trying to motivate himself, but Nars knew he was actually saying a temporary goodbye to fresh air.
"Where's Liu Xuan?" A few hours later, An Xiaotian and Qin Weishan met with Jiao An in the office, this time accompanied by the lively Lu Sha from their alliance.
"He went to see the dissection," Jiao An replied casually.
"He? He went to see the dissection?" An Xiaotian exclaimed in surprise. He knew Liu Xuan's personality; that guy would probably throw up inside.
"Nars wanted to see it; there was no other choice... Hey, let's wait for news," Jiao An said as she pressed the enter key and stood up to stretch, boldly showcasing her perfect figure in front of the three men, making Lu Sha envious and filled with admiration.
"Should we call Dr. Xu? Maybe have a small meeting or something," An Xiaotian suggested.
"Pfft, do you think you can get Dr. Xu? That high-tech talent doesn't even have time for us; don't try to understand the world of geniuses," Qin Weishan said as he casually sat on Jiao An's office sofa, propping his legs up and gesturing at An Xiaotian. "Besides, do you think we're free?"
"Uh, true," An Xiaotian admitted; it wasn't the first time Qin Weishan had left him speechless.
Standing at the door, Lu Sha heard footsteps approaching from outside. She turned around and opened the door early, revealing Jiao An's personal assistant standing outside. Surprised by seeing so many people in Jiao An's office, she glanced around at everyone present before bowing slightly to Lu Sha in thanks and walking straight over to Jiao An.
"What's wrong? Is there something going on?" Jiao An immediately put away her relaxed expression as soon as her assistant arrived, transforming into the imposing demeanor of a female CEO.
"The scene has been cleared, and we found these." The assistant unfolded the tablet tucked under his arm, projecting a three-dimensional image of a monitoring room above the device. "Due to the depth of the detainee's wounds, we treated him and left Methadone painkillers in the bathroom for him. However, when we went to clean the bathroom, all the painkillers were gone, leaving only the packaging on the table."
"What time did Wang Hao show no signs of life on the surveillance?" Jiao An asked.
"At four forty-two AM, Wang Hao's heart rate dropped to zero. We reviewed the surveillance footage, and at thirty-one minutes past, he got up briefly, turned away from the camera, and then fell back onto the bed."
Upon hearing this, a glimmer flashed in Jiao An's eyes. She had her suspicions about Wang Hao's death but wasn't certain.
"He must have taken all the medication at once and died from poisoning, right?" Lu Sha interjected.
"That could be possible, but it's not necessarily so," Jiao An shook her head at Lu Sha. "We left him a self-medication kit with three ten-milliliter vials of Methadone. Even if we extracted all the morphine that could cause acute death from it, it wouldn't be enough to kill someone outright. Moreover, if there was a life-threatening situation, the security personnel should have noticed something unusual. Why did it take until after the fact to discover when he died? His death was too quiet; something is amiss."
Among those present, Jiao An was the most knowledgeable about such matters, so no one else dared to voice any objections and simply listened quietly.
The assistant glanced at the time and broke the silence. "Director Jiao, the autopsy results are expected in half an hour. We can go check; there should be other clues."
Jiao An nodded and asked the assistant, "Is there anything else you found?"
"There is, but I think it might be insignificant." The assistant said as he located the bed in the holographic display and lifted a pillow into view. He touched a spot beneath it with his fingertip, causing that area to enlarge. Everyone leaned in closer and discovered a series of unfamiliar runes that even Jiao An couldn't match with any language she knew.
"Hmm... ask Liu Xuan," An Xiaotian pondered for a moment before decisively voicing his thoughts. "This shouldn't be considered insignificant. It could be extraterrestrial writing; who knows what information it might contain."
After examining it for a while longer, Jiao An reduced the enlarged image back to its original size. She nodded at her assistant, who understood and put away the tablet before leaving.
Only four people remained in the room. Jiao An took a sip of tea and began pacing back and forth at the table while Lu Sha exchanged glances with Qin Weishan sitting on the sofa beside him. Qin Weishan reached out curiously and tapped on Lu Sha's wrist-mounted Chain Spear launcher hidden beneath his sleeve. Hearing two crisp echoes from it without any reaction from Lu Sha, Qin Weishan tapped again out of boredom.
"Let's wait," An Xiaotian said beside Jiao An. "Now we just need to see what the forensic team says."
Half an hour later
In the studio, staff members were wrapping up their final processes. The forensic experts who had completed their autopsies hung up their white coats and discussed their findings with an air of familiarity mixed with confusion.
However, compared to the atmosphere in the studio, things were quite different in the bathroom.
"Ugh—"
At one of the sinks, Liu Xuan had bent over and been retching into it for five full minutes. The hours spent in the operating room felt like Liu Xuan's most terrifying nightmare; not only did he feel nauseated by witnessing unspeakable bloodshed or faint from the stench of decay—he had been holding all these feelings in! He had endured them for hours! Good heavens, this was more despairing than having a kidney removed!
To avoid embarrassing his allies, Liu Xuan was genuinely using every ounce of strength he had to suppress his urge to vomit. His face turned purple as he didn't even dare to breathe through his mouth for fear that opening it would unleash everything he was holding back. Nearby forensic experts occasionally tried to engage him in conversation or asked for signatures after finishing their tasks. Liu Xuan merely nodded repeatedly—damn it! Let me just get through this first!
"Hmph hmph hmph, kidney-deficient guy, ha ha..." Since leaving the operating room, Nars had been silently mocking Liu Xuan for being utterly disgusted. After laughing enough, Nars reminded Liu Xuan, "Go grab some stabilizers from Curry; you can throw up for a bit longer but stabilize yourself afterward. When there's nothing left to throw up, don't end up throwing me out too."
"If you ever make me watch an entire autopsy again..." Liu Xuan straightened up and frantically wiped his mouth with tissues while glaring at his reflection in the mirror—actually glaring at Nars—"I swear... I absolutely will never buy you your favorite strawberry-flavored AD Calcium again for as long as I live!"
"Actually, the strawberry-flavored yogurt drink tastes fine," Nars teased Liu Xuan in his mind.
"Liu Xuan!"
"Excuse me, is that Liu Xuan..."
Outside the restroom, the studio echoed with An Xiaotian's voice. Liu Xuan knew they were coming to ask about the situation, so he quickly tidied up his clothes and rushed out.
"Liu Xuan?"
"I'm here!"
Liu Xuan stepped out of the restroom, taking deep breaths of fresh air, his face pale. Lu Sha noticed this and couldn't help but chuckle.
"Here's the thing: Nars has confirmed that Wang Hao is indeed an internal Human. First, during the dissection... Ugh!" Liu Xuan seemed allergic to the word "dissection," gagging slightly as he pounded his chest. After a moment, he continued, "What we found was that Wang Hao was entirely encased in a human-like skin suit, and beneath this skin, he was just an ordinary internal Human, with organ distribution and functions highly consistent with those of an internal Human."
"What about his death..." Jiao An began but was interrupted by Liu Xuan.
"No need to ask; I know what you want to know! Don't interrupt me; I really don't want to recall this process. Let me just... Ugh! Finish!" Liu Xuan clutched his stomach, his features contorted. Under the bemused gazes of everyone, he continued, "We found a tube about one hundred eighty milliliters in size inside his stomach. After identification, it contained morphine. So I think everyone knows how he died—before he was captured, there was already a tube of morphine in his stomach. Nars said this kind of tube can be set to open after a delay at a designated time, releasing its contents. He was very clever."
"Additionally, one hundred eighty milliliters of morphine might not be enough to cause death in a short time, so he also took all the methadone from the medical kit to ensure he was completely dead... So, Sister Jiao An, what do you have in your hand?"
Everyone looked over to see that Jiao An had taken a photo of the rune her assistant had shown her and printed it out.
"I want the expert inside you to recognize this character," Jiao An said as she stepped forward and handed the photo to Liu Xuan.
As Liu Xuan looked at the photo, his left eye quickly turned moonlight-colored. He could see that Nars had changed from his earlier agitated demeanor; his expression gradually became serious, and a calm and steady aura intensified around him.
"Do you understand?" An Xiaotian asked impatiently.
"Your Judgment Day has returned to the Sun system; please time your lives accordingly."
Nars set down the photo and said with a grimace, "This is not good."
