Chapter 13: Who Dares to Bully You
The group of people scattered in the shadows quickly gathered together when they saw Xiao Yun and Duan Qingxue enter the Love Pavilion. There were five of them, all burly and with unfriendly expressions.
One of them asked a Big Guy, "Brother, this kid is quite capable, isn't he? He actually managed to bring the young lady into this hotel. What do you think is going on? Could it be that the young lady has taken a liking to this kid?"
Uh—Big Guy was clearly the leader among them. He scratched his head and frowned, saying, "Well... I can't figure it out either. How about we follow them and take a look?"
"Brothers are also hungry, so let's book a private room next to the young lady's and have a good meal!"
"To avoid drawing attention, we should definitely book a private room, but let's skip the meal. You guys tend to forget everything once you start drinking. Everyone needs to be more vigilant; don't let Qingxue easily discover us!"
...
This was Xiao Yun's first time treating someone to a meal, and it was for a beautiful woman, which made him feel particularly good.
He had specifically chosen this hotel after hearing Duan Qingxue's charming voice; it felt as if his heartstrings were gently plucked, leaving him in a state of bliss.
Once inside the private room, they sat at separate tables. A waitress came in and served each of them a cup of tea. After they ordered their dishes, she left.
Duan Qingxue was wearing a light green qipao today, which accentuated her tall figure of about 1.68 meters in a lively and unique way. Her full and prominent curves were striking, and her slim waist was delicate; looking at the slit of her qipao revealed a pair of sheer stockings tightly wrapping around her long legs, complemented by crystal high heels that clicked elegantly on the floor.
At first glance, Duan Qingxue appeared elegant and dignified, with two gracefully arched eyebrows, bright and lively phoenix eyes, a straight nose, and full red lips. Her stunning figure seemed perfectly crafted by nature; any missing detail would render her less than perfect.
After the waitress left, Xiao Yun wore a sunny smile as he looked at Duan Qingxue and said, "Sister Qingxue, you are truly beautiful. I am so happy to have the honor of inviting you to dinner today; otherwise, I would have missed the chance to share this moment with you."
"Hmph," hearing him say that made Duan Qingxue blush deeply and she couldn't help but giggle charmingly as she replied, "What do you mean by sharing a bed after a thousand years? How can you say such things!"
Oh... Xiao Yun immediately realized he had misspoken and blushed as he stammered, "I'm sorry; I misspoke!"
Qingxue gave him a flirtatious glance before lowering her head to take a sip of tea. She asked, "Xiao Yun, I want to ask you—do you really plan to rely solely on drawing portraits for a living for the rest of your life?"
Xiao Yun smiled and replied, "I can't really decide what I'll do in the future; I'll just take it one step at a time. When we get to the bridge, we'll cross it!"
He was an optimistic person who believed that going with the flow was best. Even though he already had plans for his future in mind, he didn't easily speak them out loud; for men, what mattered most was the outcome.
But with careful observation, Duan Qingxue felt that he was not speaking from the heart. Deep down, he must have some plans for the future. There was an indescribable aura about him, reminiscent of the colorful light he had once displayed, a quality that was not something ordinary people could easily cultivate.
Since he wasn't saying anything, she didn't want to pry too much. After all, they had only known each other for a little over a day and were not yet at the point of sharing everything.
Just like herself, she had also concealed many things from him.
Perhaps everyone has their own secrets, and even between lovers, it is best not to casually expose them.
Thinking of this, Duan Qingxue smiled and said, "I was just asking casually; please don't take it to heart."
Xiao Yun replied, "Not at all! Sister Qingxue asking these questions shows your concern for me. I should be grateful!"
He was quite eloquent, and Duan Qingxue couldn't help but smile sweetly again. She found it strange that she felt particularly relaxed in front of this man.
Could he be the prince charming she was seeking? No, he was just a painter; how could she possibly like him? However, it was truly amazing that he could treat Bone Disease through his art; what kind of person was he?
At that moment, the waitress walked in again and asked, "Excuse me, sir and madam, may I serve your dishes now?" The waitress mistakenly assumed that Duan Qingxue was Xiao Yun's wife.
Upon hearing this, Duan Qingxue's face turned beet red. Just as she was about to correct her, Xiao Yun quickly said, "Yes, you can serve the dishes!"
The waitress added, "By the way, we have homemade Mandarin Duck Red Wine here. It's perfect for young couples; it not only enhances the mood but also has health benefits. Would you like to order a bottle? There’s a suite behind this private room that is complimentary; you can rest there afterward!"
"That sounds great," Xiao Yun said with a wave of his hand. "Sure, bring us a bottle!"
Duan Qingxue's face was already flushed with embarrassment. As soon as the waitress turned to leave, she shot Xiao Yun a glare. "What are you doing? You invited me out for dinner; do you have some ulterior motive?"
"Me? I’m not doing anything! Today I just wanted to treat my sister to dinner; it's very simple!" Xiao Yun replied innocently. "Sister Qingxue, did I say something wrong?"
"Hmph! What did that waitress just say... You didn’t correct her at all!" Duan Qingxue pouted her flushed face and rolled her eyes at him.
Seeing Duan Qingxue looking so charming and alluring, Xiao Yun decided to be bold and teased her deliberately. "What did she say wrong? I didn’t catch it."
Just then, the waitress brought in the dishes. Xiao Yun smiled at her and said, "Miss, earlier—uh—I praised this beautiful lady for how well you speak!"
The waitress chuckled and said, "Oh no! I'm not good with words; I just find you two interesting together. It’s clear from how you interact that you’re very affectionate towards each other. I really envy you both; I hope I can find such a good man in the future!"
The waitress's words were quite direct!
Duan Qingxue's face turned bright red as she secretly kicked Xiao Yun lightly under the table.
Once all the dishes and drinks were served and only the two of them remained in the private room, Xiao Yun hurriedly picked up a piece of food with his chopsticks and placed it in Duan Qingxue's bowl, saying, "I'm sorry, I did that on purpose just now. Sister Qingxue, please don't hold it against me!"
Duan Qingxue replied, "Hmph, you look quite honest on the outside, but it turns out you have a wicked side!"
Xiao Yun poured her a glass of wine and grinned, "Sister Qingxue, let's drink. I know you say that, but deep down you care about me!"
Three black lines appeared on Duan Qingxue's forehead; this guy really had thick skin. What surprised her was that despite his slick tongue, his gaze was remarkably clear and pure, which was one of the reasons she found herself liking him a bit.
After they had eaten most of the meal, Xiao Yun poured her a cup of tea. Duan Qingxue reached out to take it and was about to sip lightly when suddenly her hand slipped, and the cup fell to the ground with a loud crash. She then let out a terrifying scream: "Ah—"
"Sister Qingxue, what happened?" Xiao Yun thought he had accidentally splashed tea on her hand and burned her.
Duan Qingxue pointed tremblingly at the corner of the wall and said, "A mouse..."
Before Xiao Yun could look for the mouse, the door to the private room was kicked open with a loud bang, and a group of men barged in, led by the Big Guy.
The Big Guy leaped in front of Duan Qingxue and shouted loudly, "Qingxue, who has the guts to bully you!"
There were no other people in the room; his words were clearly directed at Xiao Yun. From his rough voice, Xiao Yun recognized him as the leader from the group that had come to the flower shop yesterday calling his name.
