As soon as Cui Yingying spoke, the palace chamber fell into complete silence. The Assassin furrowed his brows slightly, his gaze unexpectedly landing on Cui Yingying, clearly taken aback by her bold proposal. The Emperor was even more frightened, his face pale and trembling like a leaf in the wind, unable to utter a word as he stared at Cui Yingying in terror.
The air in the chamber seemed to freeze, and one could hear a pin drop. The smile on Cui Yingying's lips grew more pronounced as she lightly tossed the kitchen knife in her hand, watching it spin a few times before it landed steadily in her palm. She stepped closer to the trembling Emperor, gently lifting his chin with the back of the knife, smiling brightly as she said, "Your Majesty, what do you think of this proposal?"
The Emperor's Adam's apple bobbed up and down as he struggled to squeeze out a response: "What... what do you want to do?"
"Don't be afraid, Your Majesty," Cui Yingying said, her smile fading as she spoke in a calm tone. "I only want one thing. As long as you cooperate obediently, I guarantee you won't lose a single hair."
She turned to look at the Assassin, her eyes firm as she said, "I need your help to obtain the Luminous Pearl. In exchange, I will release him and help you leave the palace."
The Assassin remained silent for a moment, his gaze shifting between Cui Yingying and the Emperor. Finally, he focused on Cui Yingying and asked in a deep voice, "What makes you think I would agree to this?"
"Because I know you need it," Cui Yingying replied fearlessly, meeting the Assassin's gaze. "I need it to save someone, and you need it... to get out of here."
Silence fell over the chamber once more, with only the flickering candlelight illuminating the faces of the three individuals, each harboring their own thoughts. The Assassin did not speak but stared intently at Cui Yingying, seemingly assessing the truth behind her words. The Emperor clung to a glimmer of hope, trembling as he asked, "Will... will you really let me go?"
Cui Yingying did not answer the Emperor but turned her gaze back to the Assassin, her expression resolute and sincere: "I guarantee with my integrity that if you help me obtain the Luminous Pearl, I will not harm him and will do everything possible to ensure your escape from the palace."
She paused for a moment, her tone carrying an undeniable firmness: "I mean what I say."
The Assassin lowered his eyelids, concealing the complexity of emotions in his eyes. He tightened his grip on the hilt of his sword before finally nodding slowly.
"Alright, I agree."
Cui Yingying nodded at the Assassin, a victorious smile curling at the corners of her mouth. She casually tossed the kitchen knife in her hand, which embedded itself precisely into a nearby wooden table, the handle still trembling slightly.
"Great! Refreshing!" Cui Yingying clapped her hands and turned to the stunned guards. "You all heard that. From now on, this hero is my partner, and you must cooperate with us fully!"
The guards exchanged glances, unsure of what to do. They had never encountered such a bold woman, especially one colluding with an assassin, which made them even more hesitant to act.
The Assassin coldly scanned the guards in the palace, his tone icy as he said, "If you don't want to die, shut your mouths and obediently listen to her."
The guards trembled at the Assassin's chilling gaze, lowering their heads in fear and daring not to voice any objections.
Cui Yingying nodded in satisfaction. She walked over to the Assassin and whispered, "We need to control the guards here first before we can go find Luminous Pearl."
The Assassin slightly nodded in agreement. In a flash, he became a blur, immobilizing the guards before they could react.
The guards didn't even have time to scream before they collapsed to the ground, unable to move.
The palace fell silent, leaving only Cui Yingying and the Assassin.
Cui Yingying approached the Emperor with a bright smile and said, "Your Majesty, I apologize for the inconvenience."
With that, she struck the Emperor's pressure point and helped him to a side chair, binding him with rope.
"Alright, now we can go find Luminous Pearl," Cui Yingying clapped her hands and turned to the Assassin. "Do you know where Luminous Pearl is located?"
The Assassin did not speak, but walked straight to the center of the chamber, scanning the walls and furnishings around him, seemingly searching for something.
Seeing this, Cui Yingying did not disturb him; she simply stood quietly to the side, observing his actions.
After circling the chamber, the Assassin finally stopped in front of a large landscape painting. He reached out and gently pressed on the scroll, and with a click, the painting slowly rose, revealing a dark hole.
"I found it," the Assassin said calmly.
Cui Yingying stepped forward, curiously peering into the hole but seeing nothing.
"What is inside?" she asked.
"A secret room," the Assassin replied succinctly.
"A secret room?" Cui Yingying's eyes brightened. "So, the Luminous Pearl is inside?"
The Assassin did not answer but instead took a Luminous Pearl from his waist and lightly tossed it. The Luminous Pearl floated in mid-air, emitting a soft glow that illuminated the entire secret room.
Only then did Cui Yingying see that the secret room was not large; it contained only a table and a chair, with an exquisite wooden box placed on the table. The Luminous Pearl was likely inside.
"Let's go in," the Assassin said as he stepped into the secret room first.
Cui Yingying followed closely behind, and together they entered the secret room.
The Assassin approached the table and reached out to open the wooden box.
Inside the wooden box lay a pearl the size of an egg, the Luminous Pearl, radiating a soft milky white light that illuminated the entire secret chamber as if it were daylight.
This is the legendary Luminous Pearl!
Cui Yingying looked at the Luminous Pearl before her, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
The Assassin picked up the Luminous Pearl and turned to hand it to Cui Yingying.
"Here you go."
Cui Yingying took the Luminous Pearl, feeling its warm and smooth texture in her hand. She played with it lovingly, her face filled with a joyful smile.
"Let's go," said the Assassin.
Cui Yingying nodded, carefully placing the Luminous Pearl into her pocket before following the Assassin out of the secret chamber.
When they returned to the palace, they discovered that four figures had appeared inside, seemingly out of nowhere.
The four individuals wore dark clothing and masks, revealing only their sharp eyes, exuding a chilling aura of menace.
"It's the masters of the Four Great Masters from the rooftop!" exclaimed the Captain of the Guards, who had been immobilized, his voice tinged with fear.
