Lin had long anticipated this outcome; there was no surprise in his eyes, only an increasingly cold gaze, as if frost surrounded him, making him as cold as an iceberg.
"I knew you would behave like this!"
With a cold smile, Lin showed no hesitation, his low voice shaking the hearts of everyone present.
This person actually dared to confront these ten individuals in public!
The chefs from the Review Committee couldn't help but shrink their necks at this thought; none of them dared to act as recklessly as Lin.
"Candidate Lin! What are you doing! You are openly slandering the Chef Alliance!"
The Arrogant Elder finally found an outlet for his anger. He suddenly stood up, slamming the table, ready to argue with Lin to the bitter end!
However, Lin ignored him, simply shaking his head and saying loudly, "If the Chef Alliance is like this, then I might as well not take my chef certification!"
His head slowly lifted, mockery evident in his eyes. "Even if I did take it, it wouldn't mean anything. Engaging in favoritism and corruption—you're not the Chef Alliance; you're just a bunch of self-righteous fools."
Lin's disdain for those old chefs stemmed from his reverence for the profession of cooking.
In Lin's eyes, they were not worthy of being called chefs. The way they treated the sacred Chef Assessment meant they were unworthy of the title!
Having said that, Lin no longer cared about their reactions. He felt there was no need to stay any longer and turned to put away his Spirit Blade Set, intending to leave.
Beside him, the Poverty Old Man sighed. He said nothing; he had considered stopping Lin but knew it was futile.
Regardless of whether Lin would agree to back down or not, if the Poverty Old Man intervened, it would mean their faction had surrendered to that group. That was absolutely unacceptable.
Unexpectedly, what started as good intentions ended up being a mistake.
The Poverty Old Man couldn't help but murmur softly, "I knew he had a stubborn temperament; I should never have let him participate in this assessment. Perhaps he is more suited to advance step by step."
The Poverty Old Man shook his head with a dim expression, but he heard the Arrogant Elder shouting from the upper seat, "Lin, you are going against our Chef Alliance! Based on your performance today, I can ensure you will never obtain a chef certification for the rest of your life!"
Upon hearing this, everyone was in an uproar. Was it true that the major factions on Azure Planet were about to completely sever ties because of today's incident?
The previously neutral Arrogant Elder seemed intent on isolating the Poverty Old Man's faction.
Such an infuriating threat was unbearable even for the Poverty Old Man. He couldn't help but retort coldly, "Don't go too far; the Chef Alliance is not yours to command!"
Qing Uncle also realized that things were getting serious. He quietly descended from the upper seat and stood silently behind the Poverty Old Man.
Though he said nothing, his gaze conveyed to everyone that he would always stand by his master.
The atmosphere began to thicken; the heavy air felt as if it were filled with lead, making it hard for the ordinary chefs to breathe. They could only lower their heads, hiding like ostriches.
The Arrogant Elder glared furiously, his mouth open as if he wanted to say something more. However, before he could utter a word, it was as if he had swallowed a fishbone, getting stuck in his throat with no chance to speak again.
"Indeed! When did the Chef Alliance become your domain? I wasn't aware of that!"
Suddenly, a deep voice echoed throughout the room, causing everyone to raise their eyebrows and look toward the center.
There stood a light blue figure where the countdown timer used to be, replacing its original position.
With hands behind his back and chest held high, just standing there was enough for Phantom Shadow to increase the pressure felt by everyone!
This was a true master chef! At least a Ninth-Level Chef!
Hissing sounds of inhalation filled the air as many chefs gasped in shock. They sensed that things were becoming increasingly unimaginable and quickly held their breath.
Everyone fell silent. Even Lin Ye felt surprised; he squinted at Phantom Shadow. Although he couldn't clearly see this person's face, Lin Ye could guess that this was certainly someone extraordinary.
The Arrogant Elder stood there for a moment, somewhat dazed and awkward, his hands constantly rubbing together, appearing flustered.
After finishing that sentence, the Blue Phantom no longer focused on the Arrogant Elder; after all, he was just a character and not worth his anger.
Turning his head, Phantom Shadow instead looked at Lin with great interest, nodding and saying, "You are quite impressive!"
"You are not bad either; you seem to be quite the skilled chef."
Lin smiled lightly. He understood that this guy was the one in charge of the exam, and perhaps there was still a chance for things to turn around.
Thus, Lin's tone remained calm; he knew when to act appropriately and would not simply vent his anger.
This was not because Lin was afraid of confrontation, but rather he had a sense of balance. If it weren't for Phantom Shadow complimenting him earlier, he probably wouldn't have shown any good demeanor.
"You are an interesting fellow; your words are as intriguing as your cooking!"
Chuckling and shaking his head, Phantom Shadow glanced at Lin a couple more times before turning back to look at the group of Examiners.
Since Phantom Shadow did not wish to continue talking with Lin, Lin saw no need to force a conversation. He was not one to flatter others unnecessarily.
He simply steadied himself and did not rush to leave because he saw a turning point in the situation.
Sure enough, after Phantom Shadow turned back around, he immediately asked, "What is the highest chef qualification certificate that your branch can issue?"
"Reporting to you, senior, it is the Fifth Level chef qualification certificate!"
The Arrogant Elder's arrogance completely dissipated as he nodded and bowed respectfully; he dared not act pretentious in front of this chef.
"Fifth Level... that's about right. Although this young man's knife skills are superb and his cooking techniques are decent, ultimately he is still at a foundational level. At most, he could receive a Sixth-Level Certificate... Fifth Level is fine too; it will help stabilize his restless pride."
Lowering his head and mumbling, the voice of Phantom Shadow faded away, and others could only see his lips moving without hearing what he was saying.
It seemed he was discussing this decision with the other two chefs, but those present could not see them; they remained hidden.
After about a minute, Phantom Shadow made his decision and raised his head again.
"You all, immediately issue this child a Fifth Level certificate!"
"But, just now this candidate mocked the examiner and disregarded the authority of our Chef Alliance, and..."
Arrogant Elder's eyes twitched, showing some reluctance. He seemed to want to argue further and was unwilling to issue the certificate easily.
"What? Do you think I can't see that?"
Phantom Shadow's voice suddenly turned cold, causing Arrogant Elder to shiver immediately.
"We usually don't interfere with your antics, but I need you to guarantee that as long as this child is on Azure Planet, you cannot obstruct his future in the Culinary World!"
Pausing for a moment, Phantom Shadow's words carried a threatening tone. "Otherwise, I really don't know who might end up without a chef certificate for life!"
"Yes, yes, yes! We'll go replicate the certificate right away!"
Instantly, all the Examiners extinguished their flames, nodding dejectedly as they hurried outside to personally prepare the chef certificate.
