Mengxi looked at himself in the mirror, feeling increasingly agitated. He tugged at his tie, grabbed his car keys, and turned to leave. He drove to Xie Yan's building.
As he gazed at the building, he noticed that the third-floor window was completely dark, devoid of any light. His eyes deepened with emotion. He wanted to see Xie Yan. He wanted to hold her, kiss her, and be with her intimately. He longed to see her!
He got out of the car, lit a cigarette, and began to smoke. After finishing one cigarette, he got back in the car and drove away.
In the following days, Mengxi drank heavily. He tried to numb himself with alcohol to stop thinking about Xie Yan, but he found that the more he drank, the more he thought of her. He began to question whether he was going crazy. Had he really fallen in love with Xie Yan? No, it couldn't be. How could he possibly love Xie Yan? He couldn't love anyone.
Yet, he couldn't control his heart. He couldn't stop thinking about Xie Yan. He wanted to see her desperately.
Xie Yan was afraid of the dark; she always kept a light on when she slept at night. Why had it been so long and her home remained dark? He got out of the car, went upstairs, and knocked on the door. No one answered from inside.
He called the property management and had them open the door. But inside, it was completely empty.
Mengxi stared in surprise at the vacant house and asked, "Where is everyone?" The property manager shook his head and replied, "I don't know; the house has already been sold."
Mengxi was taken aback. "Sold? When was it sold?"
"It's been almost a month."
Mengxi's gaze darkened.
Xie Yan sold the house.
Why did she sell the house?
Where did she go?
Mengxi found Cheng Sheng and coldly asked, "Did you send Xie Yan away?"
Cheng Sheng sneered, "What does it have to do with you?"
Mengxi grabbed Cheng Sheng by the collar and shouted angrily, "I'm asking you a question! Where did you send Xie Yan?"
Cheng Sheng pushed him away forcefully, "Are you out of your mind? You're married and still messing with Xie Yan?"
Mengxi roared, "I want you to answer my question!"
Cheng Sheng glared at him, "I don't know, and even if I did, I wouldn't tell you. Stay away from Xie Yan from now on!"
Mengxi gritted his teeth and said coldly, "Fine, I'll investigate myself. I will definitely find Xie Yan!"
He turned and left.
Mengxi asked many people about Xie Yan's whereabouts, but no one knew where she had gone.
It was as if she had evaporated from the world.
Mengxi decided to follow Cheng Sheng.
He believed that as long as he followed Cheng Sheng, he would surely find Xie Yan.
He had to find Xie Yan.
Mengxi glanced back at Cheng Sheng.
Cheng Sheng's pale face made him frown slightly.
He was puzzled but didn't ask further.
When Xie Yan left, he felt just as restless.
He thought that Xie Yan was just playing hard to get with him.
He chuckled lightly.

Cheng Sheng closed his eyes and said solemnly, "She had a miscarriage, the child is gone. Are you satisfied now?"
Mengxi's breath caught in his throat.
His mind was blank as he stared at Cheng Sheng.
Xie Yan was pregnant.
She was carrying his child.
But why didn't she tell him?
Why?
