Mengxi led Lü Qian downstairs, with Xie Yan following behind.
Mengxi stopped, and Lü Qian looked at her in confusion. "Mengxi, what's wrong?"
Mengxi smiled lightly. "It's nothing, you go wait for me in the car."
Lü Qian nodded and left first.
Mengxi turned to look at Xie Yan, who was keeping her head down, hesitating to meet Mengxi's gaze.
Mengxi chuckled softly, her tone filled with mockery. "What's wrong? Are you brave enough to do it but not to own up to it?"
Xie Yan trembled slightly and looked up at Mengxi, her eyes filled with tears.
Mengxi coldly stared at her. "Haven't you been flirting with Cheng Sheng all along? What are you pretending for now?"
Xie Yan's voice shook as she replied, "Mengxi, do you have to say it so harshly?"
Mengxi sneered, "You can do it, but you're afraid of what I say?"
Xie Yan's face turned pale as she bit her lip. "Yes, you're right. I have no self-respect; I'm despicable."
"So what? Mengxi, didn't you already know?"
"I'll tell you, not only have I kissed Cheng Sheng, but I've also slept with him and done it many times."
"Are you satisfied now?"
Tears streamed down her face, her eyes red as if she had suffered a great injustice.
Mengxi's heart twisted painfully, but she suppressed her hurt and laughed coldly. "You're truly filthy."
Xie Yan's face went deathly pale, and she swayed slightly, nearly collapsing.
Mengxi observed coldly.
She steadied herself, took a deep breath, wiped away her tears,
and smiled at Mengxi, "Young Master Meng, I wish you happiness."
After saying that, she turned and left.
Mengxi stood in place,
watching her slender figure gradually disappear into the night,
his heart felt as if it were being tightly squeezed by something, making it hard for Mengxi to breathe.
Back in the car, Lu Qian looked at Mengxi with concern, "Are you okay?"
Mengxi nodded, "I'm fine."
Lu Qian didn't say anything more; Mengxi knew she had guessed.
She asked Mengxi, "Are you really getting married?"
Mengxi remained silent for a long time before softly replying, "Yes."
Lu Qian sighed and fell silent.
Xie Yan walked alone on the road,
the night wind was chilly, biting against her face.
She wrapped her coat tighter and walked slowly forward.
Suddenly, a car stopped in front of her.
The window rolled down; it was Cheng Sheng.
He looked at her with concern, "Get in the car; I'll take you home."
Xie Yan shook her head and refused, "No thanks, I want to walk alone."
Cheng Sheng got out of the car and pushed her inside.
When Xie Yan tried to get out, Cheng Sheng locked the doors.
Xie Yan felt helpless and had no choice but to give up. Cheng Sheng looked at her and sighed, "Why do you have to be like this?" Xie Yan gazed out the window, remaining silent. Cheng Sheng didn't say anything more and quietly drove.
The journey was filled with silence. When they arrived at Xie Yan's building, Cheng Sheng parked the car, and Xie Yan got out. Cheng Sheng called out to her, "Xie Yan."
Xie Yan paused and turned to look at him. Cheng Sheng hesitated for a long time before softly saying, "I'm sorry." Xie Yan smiled lightly, "It's not your fault." Cheng Sheng wanted to say something else, but Xie Yan had already turned away and left.
Sitting in the car, Cheng Sheng watched as Xie Yan's figure gradually disappeared, feeling a mix of emotions. Xie Yan received a message from Mengxi. The message contained only a short sentence: "Come to my place to get my keys back."
Xie Yan felt a surge of excitement. Mengxi asking her to retrieve the keys—did that mean there was still a chance for reconciliation? With a heart full of joy, Xie Yan arrived at the café, only to find that waiting for her was not Mengxi, but Lu Qian. A hint of disappointment flashed through her mind as she stepped forward and asked coldly, "Where are Mengxi's keys?"
