Chapter One: Ye Tian 0

As the setting sun dipped below the horizon, the sky was adorned with crimson clouds, signaling that dusk was approaching. The afterglow of the sunset cast its light upon the Spirit Martial River, where the surface shimmered like scattered diamonds. Occasionally, a few small fishing boats returned quietly, gliding across the water, creating an atmosphere of tranquility and ease. 0

At this moment, by the riverbank in a small grove, a thin and lonely figure of a boy stood before a grave. 0

His name was Ye Tian. In his fifteen years of life, he had never seen his father. His mother told him that his father was a great hero with extraordinary skills, while others around him referred to his father as a gigolo and his mother as a prostitute. As for him, everyone affectionately called him—bastard. 0

This bastard had lost his mother just over ten days ago. 0

The grave was simply mounded with earth, still fresh and devoid of any weeds, indicating it had been carefully tended to. The gravestone was made of wood, inscribed with the words "Grave of Kind Mother Yu Xiaorong." 0

This was Ye Tian's mother's grave, and he came here almost every afternoon to talk to her. 0

However, today the gravestone looked different; not only did it appear damp, but there was also a foul odor that wafted through the air when the wind blew. 0

Facing the gravestone, Ye Tian clenched his fists tightly, his expression shifting from initial anger to guilt and self-blame... 0

"Mother, I'm sorry. It's my fault for not taking care of you properly, allowing you to suffer this humiliation after your departure!" 0

Ye Tian reached out to gently wipe the gravestone, tears of bitterness shimmering in his eyes. 0

"Hey! Did someone pee here?" 0

At that moment, a mocking voice rang out, and from deep within the Pine Grove emerged six or seven boys who approached slowly. Their faces were filled with disdain and provocation as they fixed their gaze on Ye Tian. 0

Ye Tian slowly raised his head; the tears in his eyes had transformed into flames of rage. In a hoarse voice, he said, "It’s you guys!!!" 0

The leader among them was a burly boy named Wang Hu. He let out a cold laugh and feigned confusion as he said, "Oh? Is the bastard angry?" Then pointing at Ye Tian's mother's gravestone, he continued, "We just took a leak on this wooden plaque!" After saying this, the group exchanged glances and burst into laughter. 0

"I will kill you all!!!" 0

The moment of humiliation surged in Ye Tian's heart, and he shouted in rage, then raised his fist with all his strength and charged at them. 0

"Thud!" 0

As Wang Hu's foot came down, Ye Tian fell heavily to the ground. 0

"A second-tier martial artist dares to come out and embarrass himself?" 0

The latter sneered contemptuously and coldly commanded, "Li Ding Li Li, get him!" 0

With the order given, Li Ding and Li Li rushed forward, punching and kicking Ye Tian, while cursing at him as they attacked. 0

"Alright! Stop it, don't delay the main event. Widow of Hedong is about to take a bath." 0

Wang Hu waved his hand, and the two stopped beating Ye Tian. However, Ye Tian was already spitting blood, lying on the ground with a painful expression, his eyes filled with an endless fire of vengeance. 0

"I will not rest until this hatred is avenged in this life!" 0

It seemed he had used all his strength to squeeze out these words through clenched teeth. 0

"Want revenge, huh? Then let me give you some motivation!" 0

Wang Hu, who had originally turned away, suddenly turned back with a slight cold smile at the corner of his mouth. Then, under Ye Tian's gaze, he kicked at the tombstone of the latter's mother. 0

"Smack!" 0

With a clear sound, the tombstone broke into two pieces, one of which flew far away. 0

Faced with such a scene but unable to stop it, blood surged to Ye Tian's head. He tasted blood in his throat and spat out a mouthful of blood. The hatred in his blood-red eyes gradually transformed into calmness and determination: "Wang Hu! Right now I am powerless against this! But during the Martial Arts Selection Tournament, I will make you lie dead before thousands in Spirit Martial Town!" 0

Hearing this, Wang Hu laughed mockingly as if he had heard the greatest joke. After laughing for a while, he suddenly sniffed hard and said, "Who urinated so strongly! I can't take it anymore; this place stinks too much! Brothers! Drag him to the riverside sand to continue beating him until he submits!" 0

Moments later, everyone appeared on the sandy ground. Looking around, one could see seven or eight young men surrounding Ye Tian, constantly cursing at him. Their shadows were elongated by the setting sun, while only the small shadow in the center pitifully corresponded to its curled-up owner. 0

"A wild seed dares to dream of participating in the Martial Arts Selection Tournament? That's simply ridiculous!" 0

"Even more ridiculous is that this wild seed claims he will defeat you in the Martial Arts Selection Tournament, Brother Wang Hu!" 0

"Why are you silent now? Aren't you always so tough with your words? Have we knocked some sense into you today? Ready to back down?" Wang Hu sneered, pointing at Xiaoye Tian, who was curled up on the ground. 0

Ye Tian groaned in pain a few times before wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth. Then, with a heavy 'spit,' he glared fiercely at the person, his eyes filled with defiance and anger, gritting his teeth and saying, "Screw you!" 0

"You wild seed dare to curse at me! Brothers, keep hitting him!" 0

With that, Wang Hu took the lead and grabbed Ye Tian by the hair, raining down slaps on him. The other boys rushed in as well, kicking and punching Xiaoye Tian while continuously shouting "wild seed" over and over. 0

Ye Tian did not resist because he knew that fighting back would be meaningless; instead, it would only bring him more harm. So he calmly protected his vital areas with his hands and fixed his furious and blazing gaze on everyone present. At the same time, he kept telling himself in his heart: "Ye Tian, remember everything that is happening now! You will make them pay dearly for what they have done today! One day they will kneel before you begging for mercy!" 0

Amidst the intense hatred, Xiaoye Tian's consciousness began to fade gradually. Finally, after a heavy punch from Wang Hu struck his head, he lost consciousness. 0

After about the time it takes to brew a cup of tea, perhaps the boys grew tired of beating him and finally stopped. Even then, they did not forget to spit on Ye Tian's motionless body. 0

"Got the guts to curse me again? Wild seed!" Wang Hu asked disdainfully while rubbing his fists. 0

"Brother Wang Hu, you're mistaken; how could he have guts? Have you forgotten he's just a wild seed?" said a chubby boy next to Wang Hu, trying to flatter him. 0

"Hahaha! Li Ding is right! I actually forgot about that!" 0

In an instant, the boys burst into laughter, their voices mixed with insults directed at Xiaoye Tian. 0

After laughing for a while, when Wang Hu noticed that Ye Tian wasn't responding, he kicked the bloodied and motionless figure on the ground and said, "What's wrong? Playing dead now? Weren't you just so tough a moment ago?" 0

Wang Hu's words seemed to remind the other boys. They looked nervously at Ye Tian, who lay pale and unmoving on the ground. 0

"Brother Wang Hu, do you think... we really killed him?" Li Ding asked fearfully as he glanced at Wang Hu, stammering. 0

Although these boys had always acted recklessly since childhood, if they had truly killed someone... that was far more serious than bullying the weak or peeping at widows bathing. 0

At this moment, Wang Hu seemed a bit flustered. He quickly crouched down and pinched Ye Tian's acupoint with all his might, but after waiting for a long time, Ye Tian still showed no reaction. 0

"Brother Wang Hu, what exactly..." All eyes were on Wang Hu, waiting for his response. 0

Taking a deep breath and feigning calmness, he said, "He's not dead; he's still breathing..." 0

Upon hearing this, everyone let out a sigh of relief, finally easing the tension that had been stuck in their throats, and they immediately transformed back into a fearless group of little rascals. 0

"However... it looks like he might be dying soon..." 0

As soon as Wang Hu said this, the atmosphere in the room froze. But after a moment, it suddenly erupted into chaos. Some were crying for help, some were shirking responsibility, and the more timid ones even collapsed to the ground in fear. 0

As the leader of the group of youths, Wang Hu naturally had some exceptional qualities. Seeing the scene descend into chaos, he shouted loudly, "Shut the hell up! Not to mention he's not dead yet; even if he really dies, who cares about a bastard child? Besides, with my father's influence, can’t he protect us?!" 0

Hearing this, the youths finally began to calm down. Someone spoke up, "That's right. Brother Wang Hu's father is a top figure in our Spirit Martial Town; who would dare disrespect him? It's just a bastard child who died; he will definitely protect us." 0

"Exactly! When the time comes, we can just say he stole our things and when we asked him about it, he denied it. That's why we had to beat him up!" 0

"Besides, didn't Brother Wang Hu say he's not dead? We can leave now; if he’s weak and can’t survive on his own, then it’s his own fault for being short-lived. We only injured him; we didn't kill him! Right, everyone?" 0

Seeing that his words had calmed everyone down, Wang Hu felt a surge of pride and raised his head confidently. "Brothers, don’t worry! As long as you follow me, Wang Hu, I’ll take care of everything! If I can't handle it myself, I still have my old man! What Li Ding said earlier is right; we didn’t kill him. If he dies, what does it have to do with us?!" 0

"Oh no! I almost forgot about the main issue! The widow's bath must be almost over!" 0

After saying this, Wang Hu turned around and ran off. The group of youths closely followed him while echoing his words and showering him with flattery. 0

As they gradually moved away, the sky began to darken further, leaving behind only the curled-up figure on the sandy ground slowly being engulfed by darkness. 0

... 0

Crack! 0

In the thick nightfall, a thunderous sound echoed as lightning struck. Soon after, large raindrops began to pour down heavily. 0

In late autumn, as the weather turned cold, torrential rain fell mercilessly on Ye Tian, bringing a chilling sensation. His fingers twitched, and he slowly opened his heavy eyes. 0

As his consciousness gradually cleared, Ye Tian looked at the raging storm and a faint smile appeared on his lips. 0

"It seems that heaven does not wish to see me die like this, deliberately sending down the rain to wake me up." 0

Indeed, if it had been a clear night with no wind or rain, Ye Tian would likely have remained unconscious until death. 0

After muttering to himself, Ye Tian struggled to stand up, but as soon as he moved, countless pains shot through his body, as if his bones were shattered. The pain was particularly severe in his chest; he estimated that at least a few of his ribs were broken. 0

"Damn it! Wang Hu, Li Ding, you beasts are ruthless!" Ye Tian cursed under his breath while vowing in his heart, "Surviving this calamity must bring future blessings! Rest assured, one day I will repay you for all the humiliation and beatings you have inflicted on me!" 0

At that moment, a flash of lightning suddenly streaked across the sky, illuminating the dark night for an instant, followed by a deafening thunder. 0

Ye Tian was lost in thought when the sudden thunder startled him. After much effort, he managed to stand up again but fell back to the ground with a thud, causing him to grimace in pain and curse inwardly. 0

With the fierce wind and rain and the booming thunder, Ye Tian's figure appeared increasingly lonely in the stormy night. 0

He had never met his father, and his mother had passed away suddenly just over ten days ago. However, Ye Tian did not want to become a beggar on the streets; thus, he could only go out to work. Initially, like others, he was a naive young man who believed that hard work would surely yield rewards and that striving would lead to a good life. 0

But this belief was soon shattered by the appearance of one person. 0

For the first bundle of firewood, Ye Tian spent an entire day gathering it neatly and ensuring it weighed more than others. He eagerly went to a wealthy household in Spirit Martial Town to exchange it for some small change. Dragging the heavy firewood, though utterly exhausted, he felt elated and even imagined the buyer praising him for being so sensible and capable at such a young age. 0

However, things did not go as he wished. The young servant receiving the goods at that household cheated him out of his firewood and then handed over the money given by the Head of Household to his instigator. Later, Ye Tian learned that this household's surname was Wang and that the instigator was none other than Wang Hu. 0

He had no grievances with Wang Hu; why was Wang Hu treating him like this? 0

The reason was simple: it stemmed from an unintentional remark made by Wang Hu's elder when reprimanding him. 0

"You waste your days at home without doing anything productive; even that street urchin working hard outside is more diligent than you! Though he has a worthless life, at least he knows how to work and earn a living. Look at yourself! Sigh!" 0

Because of this remark, the psychologically twisted Wang Hu began his endless oppression of Ye Tian! 0

You have been working hard, haven't you? You have been striving, haven't you? Well! I will make sure you can't survive! 0

Since that day, no one was willing to buy firewood and herbs from Ye Tian anymore, and no shopkeeper wanted Ye Tian to work for them. Even worse, every few days, Ye Tian would be subjected to unreasonable insults and beatings. 0

Of course, the instigator of all this was Wang Hu. 0

However, the Wang family chose not to stop this but rather to ignore and condone it. 0

At this point, Ye Tian understood a truth: within the Martial Sovereign realm, strength is paramount! Wang Hu's arrogance stemmed from the fact that there were many powerful individuals in the Wang family, making their influence in Spirit Martial Town second to none. Thus, under such overwhelming pressure of power, the so-called conscience of the world was worth less than a bundle of firewood. 0

The concept of fairness can only be discussed once you possess the ability to control your own fate! 0

The various experiences over the past ten years had allowed this thought to take root in Ye Tian's young heart. 0

"I must become strong! I must make my name resonate throughout the Martial Sovereign realm and even across the entire Heavenly Choice Continent!" 0
