"You... you are!" Ren Yong'an turned to look at each of them, and when he saw Jiao An, he suddenly remembered the woman from yesterday's news conference at the M City Military Base, "You are the ones fighting against the monsters!"
"That's right." An Xiaotian put down his phone, "As a colleague of General Jiang, I assume your relationship with him is not bad?"
"Ah no... ah yes, yes, yes!" Ren Yong'an shook his head and then nodded vigorously, staring at Qin Weishan's raised mechanical gauntlet, his pupils trembling with fear.
"I assume you know about General Jiang being sued?" An Xiaotian continued to ask pointedly, "So may I ask who initiated it?"
"Uh..." Cold sweat had appeared on Ren Yong'an's forehead without him realizing it. He now understood that these four were here to settle accounts with him. But Ren Yong'an had managed to reach his current position; he was certainly not foolish. He rolled his eyes and countered, "Let me tell you, you don't want to get rid of him, do you?"
"You!" Seeing this old man actually countering him, Qin Weishan held back and did not strike, but Lu Sha behind Ren Yong'an could not hold back. She rushed forward and grabbed the old man's hair, forcing him to see her wrist aimed at him. The gunpoint from the Chain Spear launcher under Lu Sha's wrist was glaringly suspended in front of Ren Yong'an's eyes, making him tremble all over.
An Xiaotian and Jiao An did not stop Lu Sha from roughly grabbing Ren Yong'an because they had already learned through Jiao An's intelligence who was trying to frame General Jiang. An Xiaotian's earlier words were a test, and he was already trying hard to control his emotions.
"I understand how you feel, young people. But I can assure you that you have no way out, hmph."
Ren Yong'an tried to calm himself down. His mind was working quickly; he had analyzed his current situation very clearly: these young people wanted to save Jiang Yan. Legally speaking, even if they hired a lawyer, it would be difficult for them to win; and if they resorted to unconventional means, they would face the danger of imprisonment. It was clear that they wanted to threaten him into revealing something; as long as he kept his mouth shut, they could do nothing to him. Killing him would be of no benefit at all.
Looking at the four glaring at him and the gunpoint aimed at his forehead, Ren Yong'an found a reason to regain his confidence: "You dare not lay a hand on me; we both know that."
"Damn it!" An Xiaotian cursed inwardly. He realized he had underestimated this old man; facing the fists of boxing champion Qin Weishan and Lu Sha's Chain Spear, he remained so calm so quickly. Indeed, those who could hold high positions had substance.
An Xiaotian exchanged a surprised glance with Jiao An; the situation had changed. He silently asked Jiao An if she had a backup plan.
But Jiao An's gaze was calm, as if everything was within her expectations. She glanced again at Qin Weishan holding Ren Yong'an by the collar; just after their eye contact, Qin Weishan seemed to understand and moved Lu Sha's Chain Spear launcher away from Ren Yong'an, signaling her to let go.
Seeing that Qin Weishan seemed ready to let him go, a sly expression of triumph gradually appeared on Ren Yong'an's face. He straightened up and attempted to elegantly adjust his clothes but did not expect that Qin Weishan still held up his fist, glaring at him with wide eyes.
"What?" Faced with the iron fist hanging in front of him, Ren Yong'an felt some fear and forced himself to ask calmly; however, he was sure that Qin Weishan would never bring his fist down.
"Do you think I wouldn't dare hit you?" Qin Weishan said as he lifted his fist. Just as Ren Yong'an was puzzled, a low sound of metal scraping echoed as a blade unexpectedly sprang out from the back of Qin Weishan's mechanical gauntlet, glinting silver under the chandelier!
"Ah!" The feeling of fear in Ren Yong'an reached its peak instantly. Could they really be planning to take action against him? Thinking of this possibility made Ren Yong'an's legs tremble uncontrollably as he stepped back but was caught by Lu Sha holding his arms.
"Just comply obediently." Lu Sha whispered mischievously in Ren Yong'an's ear; her ethereal and deep voice made him feel as if death itself had descended upon him.
"Don't! Wait! Wait..." Ren Yong'an shouted frantically for them to stop, his eyes fixed on the blade on Qin Weishan's hand as if fearing it would suddenly stab down. "We can talk! You still don't know who framed Jiang Yan, right? I can tell you it was Wang..."
"Wang your grandpa! Framing General Jiang and wanting to frame others too?" Qin Weishan interrupted him directly. "Do you really think we don't know?!"
Ren Yong'an trembled all over—what was going on? Didn't they just ask me? How come they say they know it was me? Do they really know or not? Should I keep pretending?
An Xiaotian and Qin Weishan had truly left Ren Yong'an bewildered. Qin Weishan glanced back at An Xiaotian and demanded, "Isn't this all your doing? We're just here to ask you about the court's notice regarding your first trial time!"
"We don't want to get serious here, Commander Ren; killing you is merely a way for us to vent our anger. And don't think my brother wouldn't dare!" An Xiaotian continued to apply pressure.
"I... I don't know..." Ren Yong'an was on the verge of tears, squinting his eyes as if he might cry at any moment.
In fact, the court had already notified him yesterday about the specific date for his first trial, which was why he had invited Wang Hao over for dinner—to celebrate.
"So you're just not going to say anything?" Qin Weishan said, pointing the tip of his sword at Ren Yong'an's chest. "If you won't talk, we can't let this trip be in vain, right?"
"Huh?" Ren Yong'an hadn't reacted yet when Qin Weishan actually made a move! He aimed for Ren Yong'an's collarbone and stabbed down mercilessly!
"Ah! Ugh! Ah! I'll talk, I'll talk!" Ren Yong'an was completely panicked, his mouth wide open like an oversized olive, screaming like a slaughtered pig. The moment Qin Weishan's sword tip touched Ren Yong'an's flesh, he felt as if he had been electrocuted. He thought he had been stabbed and began to scream in agony with his eyes rolling back.
"I'll tell you! March first, March first! Ah—" He covered the fist that Qin Weishan had yet to lift with both hands, trying to cover the wound. In his mind, he believed he was already dead from the stab!
However, after a long while, he realized he was still alive and standing there. Ren Yong'an looked down in confusion, incredulously feeling his body—how... there was no pain at all?
A foul smell spread from beneath Ren Yong'an, causing Qin Weishan to frown as he glanced at the wet spot under Ren Yong'an's waist and smirked disdainfully.
"Alright, Weishan, lift it up; look how scared you've made him," An Xiaotian said, tilting his head. He, along with Jiao An and Lu Sha, had noted down the date—March first, which was twenty days away.
Ren Yong'an was filled with questions as Qin Weishan moved his fist away from him. He looked down and touched the dent in his clothes: what was this? He was completely unharmed! The guy had only pressed his fist against his chest and had scared him into acting like a pig about to be slaughtered during New Year!
"Where... where's that sword?" Ren Yong'an asked in a daze but still confused: clearly there had been a sword tip just now on the back of his fist?
"You're so precious; how could I dare to hurt you?" Qin Weishan mocked Ren Yong'an sarcastically as he revealed the sword tip on the back of his hand again.
Ren Yong'an took a closer look and was instantly dumbfounded—good grief, this thing was just a toy folding sword that hadn't even been sharpened! It must have been coated with something that made it look real under the light!
"Ugh, it stinks!" Lu Sha waved her hand in front of her nose while glancing at the wet spot hanging down from Ren Yong'an's backside with a face that looked like she wanted to vomit. "Is it done? Let's hurry up and leave so he can wash his pants."
"Wait a minute." In stark contrast to Lu Sha's reaction, Jiao An appeared very calm; she had just caught an inconspicuous piece of information and asked, "You didn't finish saying that name earlier; clarify it."
"Wang... Wang Hao," Ren Yong'an said now without daring to hide anything; he obediently confessed. "He is also Jiang Yan's arch-nemesis; he encouraged me to file the lawsuit. We filed it together."
"And then?" Jiao An prompted for more details as she opened her watch; on its holographic screen, she seemed to be searching for something. "Be specific about what he did."
"There's more... there's more..." Ren Yong'an gasped for breath as he desperately recalled. "He once told me he was collecting information on Superhero Alliance and asked me many questions about you guys—many times—but I didn't know anything; he kept asking shamelessly."
"What? Us?" Lu Sha and Qin Weishan asked in unison.
"Yes, you guys—the special forces squad," Ren Yong'an replied honestly. "That's all I could think of that relates to you."
On the projection screen in front of Jiao An were several videos displayed in split screens. Jiao An was using them for target identification. An Xiaotian noticed Jiao An's gaze moving quickly across the screen searching for something; soon her eyes flashed with surprise—she must have found something.
"Weishan, do you remember an operation we participated in together against Viper?" Jiao An looked at Qin Weishan. "It was three years ago when Viper's people drove an armored vehicle to rob data from a biological laboratory."
"I remember; what's up?" Qin Weishan asked.
"This person named Wang Hao appeared among the group of robbers at that time." Jiao An paused a segment of the surveillance footage, dragging it out with his finger and placing it in front of everyone. The image began to zoom in, revealing the only robber behind the armored vehicle who was not wearing a mask. "In the footage, he was the only one without a mask; it seems he wasn't used to wearing one."
"How is that possible?" Qin Weishan's expression became serious. "Didn't everyone get arrested?"
Questions that puzzled everyone gradually emerged: What exactly is Wang Hao's identity?
"Lu Sha, keep an eye on Commander Ren," An Xiaotian said as he walked to the window with Jiao An and Qin Weishan, organizing his thoughts. "The current Wang Hao is a person within the system, right? Yet just three years ago, he was a robber working for Viper? And he... slipped away right under your noses?"
"He is still gathering information on us," Qin Weishan said thoughtfully. "This person has significant issues; I can't figure out how he managed to do it."
"Hey." An Xiaotian looked at Ren Yong'an, who was being watched by Lu Sha. "Where is he?"
"He... Wang Hao was just having dinner with me," Ren Yong'an replied.
An Xiaotian was taken aback; suddenly, he recalled seeing someone turn sideways in the parking garage earlier.
