"Your Majesty, please rise." The Emperor said calmly, "I knew you would return."
"Your Majesty, Li Gonggong has rebelled, and the palace is now surrounded by his men. Please leave here quickly!" Zhang Yun said anxiously.
"There's no need to panic." The Emperor remained calm as ever, "Everything is under my control."
Upon hearing this, Zhang Yun felt puzzled, but there was no time for him to think further. He stood up and said, "Your Majesty, we must not delay. Please allow me to escort you out immediately!"
The Emperor nodded, and under Zhang Yun's escort, he left through a secret passage from the palace.
Meanwhile, Li Gonggong was sitting triumphantly on the Dragon Throne in the Golden Throne Hall, receiving the ministers' homage. He looked around at the trembling officials below him, filled with pride and satisfaction.
"Congratulations, Li Gonggong! From now on, you are the master of Great Qian!" an official flattered.
"Hahaha..." Li Gonggong laughed heartily, "In the end, this world has fallen into our hands!"
"Li Gonggong, it's bad! The Emperor is missing!" a Eunuch rushed in in a panic, kneeling on the ground and shouting in terror.
"What?!" The smile on Li Gonggong's face instantly froze. He jumped up and grabbed the Eunuch by the collar. "What did you say? The Emperor is missing? How is that possible?!"
"I... I don't know either!" The Eunuch trembled in fear. "We couldn't find the Emperor in the palace; we only found a few bodies of Imperial Guards..."
Li Gonggong's face turned pale with rage. He threw the Eunuch to the ground and gritted his teeth as he said, "Zhang Yun! It must be Zhang Yun! Someone! Search for them! Dig three feet into the ground if necessary to find them!"
"Yes!"
Li Gonggong never expected that his carefully planned coup would be thwarted by Zhang Yun's appearance. His anger surged within him; he wished he could tear Zhang Yun to pieces.
However, what he did not know was that an even larger net was closing in on him...
Li Gonggong was furious, kicking over the Eunuch who was kneeling on the ground and shouting, "Useless! A bunch of useless people! You can't even keep an eye on a living person!"
The Eunuch let out a muffled groan from the kick, disregarding the pain as he rolled away to hide in a corner, trembling.
"Come here!" Li Gonggong pointed at the terrified Eunuch on the ground and barked, "Drag him out and execute him!"
"Yes!" Two guards immediately stepped forward and dragged the Eunuch away.
Inside the hall, Li Gonggong paced back and forth, his face dark with anger. He had planned for everything but did not anticipate that Zhang Yun would come back to kill.
"Li Gonggong, what do we do now?" an official asked nervously. "The Emperor..."
Li Gonggong abruptly turned his head, his eyes filled with menace, causing the official to fall silent, too frightened to continue.
"What are you panicking about!" Li Gonggong snorted coldly. "The Emperor must still be in the palace. Search for them! Dig three feet into the ground if you have to, but find them for me!"
"Yes!"
The guards took their orders and chaos erupted throughout the palace.
Meanwhile, Zhang Yun was leading the Emperor through the intricate secret passages.
"Your Majesty, are you alright?" Zhang Yun asked with concern as he supported the Emperor.
The Emperor shook his head and replied, "I am fine; I apologize for worrying you."
“Li Gonggong is insidious and cunning. I am worried he may pose a threat to you,” Zhang Yun said.
“I know,” the Emperor's eyes flashed with a hint of coldness. “I have long suspected his treachery, but I never expected him to be so bold as to plot against the throne!”
“Your Majesty is wise,” Zhang Yun replied. “Li Gonggong has now taken control of the entire palace; we must leave here as soon as possible.”
“Mm.” The Emperor nodded. “This secret passage leads outside the city. We will meet with the Imperial Guard outside.”
The two continued forward, walking for about the time it takes to burn an incense stick, until they finally reached the exit of the secret passage.
Zhang Yun pushed open the stone door at the exit, and a rush of fresh air greeted them. He turned back to the Emperor and said, “Your Majesty, we have arrived.”
The Emperor nodded and stepped out first.
They found themselves in a dense forest, shrouded in night, which made it particularly quiet.
“Your Majesty, where shall we go now?” Zhang Yun asked.
“To Western Mountain Camp,” the Emperor replied. “I still have a contingent of elite soldiers there.”
“Yes!”
The two mounted their horses and galloped toward Western Mountain Camp.
Meanwhile, Li Gonggong had also learned of the Emperor's escape.
“Damn it! He got away!” Li Gonggong seethed with rage. “Send orders to seal the city gates and search the entire city for the Emperor and Zhang Yun! If they are found, kill them on sight!”
“Yes!
In an instant, the entire capital was filled with panic, and everyone felt threatened.
Zhang Yun and the Emperor evaded their pursuers and finally arrived at the Western Mountain Camp early the next morning.
"Your Majesty!"
The Imperial Guard Commander, who was guarding the camp, was overwhelmed with excitement upon seeing the Emperor and quickly knelt to pay his respects.
"Get up," the Emperor said. "Li Gonggong has rebelled. I now command you to lead the army back to the palace with me to quell the rebellion!"
"I obey your orders!"
The Imperial Guard Commander accepted the command and immediately gathered an army of fifty thousand, marching grandly towards the capital under the Emperor's lead.
Inside the capital, Li Gonggong was unaware that the Emperor had returned with an army and was still immersed in his joy of soon becoming the Sovereign Ruler.
"Report—"
A guard rushed in in a panic, kneeling before Li Gonggong and speaking frantically, "Li Gonggong, it's bad! The Emperor... he has led an army back!"
"What?!"
Li Gonggong's expression changed drastically, and the wine cup in his hand fell to the ground with a crash, shattering into pieces.
