To ensure safety in the future, not a single clue can be left behind here, and there is no possibility of leaving any survivors! Specter led two Sentinels to a secluded location and turned to counterattack them.
Specter's figure flickered like a ghost, appearing instantly before the two Sentinels. She held a dagger in each hand, coldly staring at the Sentinels in front of her. Before the Sentinels could react, Specter had already struck. Her daggers shot out like lightning, aimed directly at the throats of the Sentinels.
The first Sentinel hurriedly raised his arm to block Specter's attack but was pierced through the palm by her dagger, blood spraying out. Specter showed no expression on her face as she forcefully yanked the dagger out, taking a chunk of flesh with it. The Sentinel let out a cry of agony, clutching his palm and stepping back a few paces, his eyes filled with fear.
The second Sentinel seized the opportunity to draw his longsword from his waist and swung it at Specter. However, Specter nimbly sidestepped the attack. In an instant, her other dagger thrust back, accurately piercing into the Sentinel's abdomen. Without hesitation, Specter twisted the dagger, shredding the Sentinel's insides as blood gushed out. He fell to his knees in pain, his eyes losing their luster.
Specter coldly gazed at the remaining Sentinel, a glint of killing intent flashing in her eyes. She withdrew her dagger and turned to face the first Sentinel again. He attempted to resist, but Specter gave him no chance. She swiftly closed in on him and slashed across his throat with her dagger; blood gushed forth as he convulsed a few times before collapsing lifelessly to the ground.
Specter coldly wiped the blood off her dagger and turned to leave, leaving behind two cold corpses.
When Li Ye, Zhiruo, and Yan Yuchen entered the secret passage of Base, they found that the entire route was filled with intricate and concealed traps. These traps varied widely—spike pits, rolling logs, snares—each designed so cleverly that they were nearly undetectable. Despite being familiar with the terrain, Li Ye found himself challenged by such a dense arrangement of traps.
"These traps are incredibly sophisticated; one misstep could trigger them," Li Ye frowned, scanning the passage ahead with a serious expression.
Yan Yuchen also looked worried: "If these traps are triggered by mistake, the consequences would be unimaginable."
Just as the three were deep in thought, Zhiruo suddenly stepped forward, her gaze focused on the ground and surrounding walls. She began examining every possible hiding place for traps, her eyes revealing concentration and determination.
Suddenly, her gaze landed on a slightly raised spot on the ground. She gently stepped on it and then tilted her head to observe closely.
"There’s a triggering mechanism here!" Zhiruo suddenly whispered, pointing at the slightly raised part of the ground.
Li Ye and Yan Yuchen were taken aback; they hadn’t expected Zhiruo to notice such a subtle change. A hint of surprise and admiration flashed in Li Ye's eyes; he hadn't anticipated Zhiruo's expertise in this area.
Zhiruo focused her mind and began analyzing the structure and working principle of the triggering mechanism. She seemed quite familiar with it and quickly found a solution. Carefully adjusting the mechanism, she finally opened the passage without triggering any traps.
"Let's go, I will do my best to help you avoid traps." Zhiruo revealed a confident smile, fully aware of her abilities; now was the time to showcase them.
Li Ye and Yan Yuchen exchanged glances, filled with admiration and trust for Zhiruo. They continued to follow her lead, successfully navigating through one trap-laden area after another, stealthily making their way toward the core of the Base.
Suddenly, a whispering sound came from ahead, prompting Li Ye to signal for the others to stop. He cautiously peeked out and discovered two Shadow Assassins patrolling in front of them.
Li Ye whispered, "We need to take them out silently."
Yan Yuchen nodded, drawing her longsword, a glint of determination in her eyes. Li Ye took a deep breath and signaled for them to get ready. The three of them moved simultaneously; Li Ye quickly approached one of the assassins, gently shaking a bell in his hand. The assassin immediately felt dizzy. Seizing the opportunity, Li Ye struck swiftly, silencing him before he could react.
Yan Yuchen agilely jumped behind the other assassin, thrusting her sword directly at his heart. The assassin struggled a few times before collapsing lifelessly to the ground. Zhiruo prepared potions from behind, just in case. They quickly dealt with the bodies and continued forward.
After a tense stealth operation, they finally reached the core area of the Base. In front of them stood a heavy wooden door, behind which was the leader's quarters. Li Ye took a deep breath and said softly, "Get ready; we are about to meet the leader."
Yan Yuchen and Zhiruo nodded, gripping their weapons tightly with serious expressions. Li Ye gently pushed open the wooden door, and the three of them slowly entered the room. The dimly lit room was adorned with banners featuring a Black Skull, indicating the leader's identity and status.
The leader sat coldly in a chair at the center of the room, staring at them with an icy gaze. Beside him stood several elite assassins, each looking fierce and wielding sharp weapons.
With a cold smirk on his lips, the leader clapped his hands and looked at Yan Yuchen with indifference, raising an eyebrow as he said, "After hunting you for so long, I didn't expect you to walk right into our Base." He spat on the ground and continued, "Those outside are utterly useless; they let you come here alive!"
Yan Yuchen glared at the leader with hatred and questioned, "What did Feiyan Villa do wrong?! Why did you have to ruthlessly wipe out my entire family?!"
The leader sneered mockingly: "As a reward for making it here, I'll enlighten you." He paused for effect as if savoring his superiority before slowly saying, "That 'Heavenly Frost Sword' collected by Feiyan Villa is quite a treasure. Liu Zhang—Lord Liu—wants to present it to the emperor as a birthday gift; who knows if the emperor might reward him with high official titles in return. Lord Liu once paid a hefty sum to your father for it, but your father foolishly refused. Therefore, it was only right that your entire family was exterminated."
Yan Yuchen's face turned pale with rage as fire burned in her eyes: "You can slaughter innocents just for that sword!"
The leader scoffed coldly: "This is Lord Liu's order; we are merely executors. You should not offend those you cannot afford to cross. Feiyan Villa brought about its own destruction; you have no one else to blame."
Listening to the leader's words, Li Ye gritted his teeth, anger burning in his chest. He summoned two evolved Wolf Corpses, which were even more terrifying and fierce than before, their fangs glinting coldly, muscles taut, exuding an aura of death. Li Ye pointed at the leader and made a provocative gesture, coldly saying, "You dogs, today is your day to die!"
The Shadow Assassins beside the leader drew their weapons one after another, warily watching Li Ye and his Wolf Corpses. The leader's face darkened as he drew his long knife, preparing to fight.
Li Ye launched the first attack; he rang a bell, and the Wolf Corpses lunged toward the leader under its guidance. The leader was agile and quickly dodged the Wolf Corpses' assault. He swung his long knife, sending a sharp flash of blade light straight at the Wolf Corpses. One of the Wolf Corpses roared and nimbly evaded the attack, then countered with a strike, its claws slicing through the air toward the leader.
Yan Yuchen was not to be outdone; she drew her long sword and joined Li Ye in attacking the leader. Her swordsmanship was swift and fierce, each strike filled with intense hatred. The leader was forced to retreat repeatedly under their combined assault, a flicker of surprise and anger crossing his face.
"Good kid, not bad for someone so young!" The leader coldly remarked to them with a smirk. "But unfortunately, you both must die today!"
Another Wolf Corpse prepared to assist, but other Shadow Assassins sprang into action. In an instant, chaos erupted; the Wolf Corpse could not support Li Ye while the other Shadow Assassins were unable to aid the leader, creating a delicate balance.
The battle raged within the confines of the Base, blades flashing and killing intent filling the air. Li Ye and Yan Yuchen worked seamlessly together, forcing the leader into a defensive position. The leader showcased remarkable skill; every strike was filled with power and precision, leaving no openings in his defense.
At that moment, Zhiruo also took out her potions, ready to support the two at any time. Her gaze was resolute as she silently prayed for Li Ye and Yan Yuchen to successfully defeat the leader and avenge Feiyan Villa.
As the battle intensified, the leader's defenses began to crumble under the combined attacks of the Wolf Corpses and Yan Yuchen. The leader's expression grew increasingly grim as he clearly sensed defeat approaching.
Suddenly, the leader let out a furious roar; disregarding everything, he launched a frenzied counterattack. His long knife swung wildly, creating a fierce gust of wind that pushed back Li Ye and Yan Yuchen. Then he quickly pulled out a black pill from his pocket and swallowed it whole; instantly his power surged and his aura exploded.
"You little fish think you can kill me?"
