Knowing the secret of the months in the Cultivation Realm, Lingfeng finally understood why cultivators and other Demon Cultivators consciously adhered to this prohibition. It turned out that once one learned the secrets within, it was easy to provoke a fatal disaster.
However, what surprised Lingfeng was that the ancient cultivators had linked the method to break Zhu Long's seal with the months of the Cultivation Realm. Although the symbolic fruit of December in the Cultivation Realm was hard to find, who could guarantee that someone with ulterior motives wouldn't find it? And who could ensure that the secret of the months wouldn't be revealed?
Wanshitong wore a pained expression, looking at Lingfeng with deep guilt. He said nothing, only more and more Mandala Demon Flowers surrounded him, their colors growing increasingly vivid.
Lingfeng knew that Wanshitong was struggling internally and realized that he couldn't bear to kill him. Thus, he saw that Wanshitong was indeed a good person among Demon Cultivators.
Lingfeng rolled his eyes and said playfully, "Since I already know the secret here, how about we make a bet?"
Wanshitong did not lift his head and replied in defeat, "What’s there to bet on? You're going to die anyway!"
"Not necessarily! I know you can't bear to kill me!" Lingfeng shook his head, directly voicing Wanshitong's thoughts.
Wanshitong's body trembled violently as if struck by inner pain. He suddenly looked up, and then the Mandala Demon Flower behind him shot toward Lingfeng like a venomous snake.
Lingfeng was startled; he hadn't expected Wanshitong to actually make a move. He quickly stepped back two paces and then leaped up onto the beam.
"Big brother, please listen to me!" Lingfeng hurriedly said, fearing Wanshitong would not relent.
Wanshitong gasped heavily due to his internal struggle but paused when he heard Lingfeng's words. He kept the Mandala Demon Flower fixed beside Lingfeng and said, "If you have any last words, say them quickly!"
"Last words? What last words?" Lingfeng waved his hand and continued, "I know you're good at divination and aware of many things ordinary people don't know. So you must know whether I will reveal Zhu Long's secret or release Zhu Long in the future!"
After hearing Lingfeng's words, Wanshitong indeed fell into thought for a moment. He hesitated before looking at Lingfeng and said, "Of course I know!"
Lingfeng couldn't help but chuckle to himself, thinking that this guy was about to fall for it again. He quickly seized the moment and said, "So, I will never reveal Zhu Long, nor will I disclose the secrets of the months. What I propose is a bet: you keep my name on record and see if I will eventually reveal these secrets. If the outcome contradicts your divination... then," Lingfeng shrugged, a hint of helplessness in his tone, "it can only mean your divination is flawed, and the title of 'All-Knowing' is also a sham!"
"Who’s a sham!" All-Knowing stomped his foot in protest, childishly arguing, "My title of All-Knowing is not just for show; it's genuine!"
However, All-Knowing felt a bit uneasy. He had no idea that Lingfeng was merely setting a trap for him. After all, divination requires certain information, such as the birth date and time of the person being divined or other details about the diviner. Since All-Knowing didn't know Lingfeng's birth date or where he came from, how could he possibly know whether Lingfeng would reveal the hidden secrets within the Cultivation Realm or if he would release Zhu Long?
Lingfeng took advantage of All-Knowing's lack of cunning and his concern for face to provoke him again without revealing his birth date.
At this moment, All-Knowing found himself in a dilemma. First, he had no idea what Lingfeng would do in the future, but he valued his reputation highly and didn't want to appear ignorant. Secondly, if he were to kill Lingfeng now, it would mean he was afraid to accept Lingfeng's challenge, confirming that his title of All-Knowing was indeed just empty words.
Seeing that All-Knowing was deep in thought and the illusions created by the Mandala Demon Flower were gradually fading away, Lingfeng finally breathed a sigh of relief. However, noticing that All-Knowing still couldn't make up his mind, Lingfeng smiled and jumped down from the beam. He patted All-Knowing on the shoulder in a friendly manner and said with apparent concern, "Big brother, you don't need to be so troubled. Don't you trust my character? Remember, you are All-Knowing; how could you not be aware of any movements within the Cultivation Realm? Besides, I'm just a small character compared to you; in your eyes, I'm like an ant!" He thought to himself that ants have the strongest vitality.
All-Knowing felt quite flattered by Lingfeng's flattery; his earlier troubled expression gradually faded away. He playfully patted Lingfeng back and laughed, "Alright then, little brother! I'll take your bet; I will definitely win in the end!"
Lingfeng felt a surge of joy inside; he hadn't expected such a capable person to be so naive. He then put on a serious yet reluctant expression and clasped his fists together, saying, "Big brother, it's almost dawn; I shouldn't stay any longer. We'll meet again another day!"
"Alright then, take care. But remember, I will definitely win!" All-Knowing replied.
Lingfeng sighed dramatically and pretended to wipe away tears before heading out the door. Once outside, his heart raced with excitement. Noticing that All-Knowing didn't follow him out, he quickly took off running and used the Earth Escape Technique as soon as he reached an isolated spot, fearing that All-Knowing might catch on.
Thus, with a mix of anxiety and anticipation, Lingfeng returned to the foot of the mountain. There was still some light inside; Invisible Ghost sat on the ground while Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao lay asleep.
Lingfeng looked at everyone and hurried over to wake them up.
As they rubbed their eyes and saw Lingfeng had returned, they immediately perked up significantly.
"Is there any news?" Fei Fei hurriedly stood up and walked over to Lingfeng.
Lingfeng nodded and said, "Everyone, get ready quickly. We are leaving soon!"
Taking advantage of the darkness, everyone quickly left the area. The village chief was quite observant, and it was possible that he might hear about Lingfeng's deception from the gossiping villagers and come after them. Although the gossipers were slow to react, they had experienced many things; perhaps they would wake up in the middle of the night and realize they had been fooled, which would be disastrous. Therefore, the best course of action was to leave immediately.
Lingfeng didn't have time to think about the reasons. He extinguished the fire on the ground and then led everyone out of the hollow valley. By the time they emerged from the swamp, it was already dawn.
Due to their sudden departure, both Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao were yawning. As daylight broke, the two beauties were growing increasingly fatigued and soon collapsed on the ground, unable to move.
Lingfeng wiped the sweat from his face, looking as if he had just committed a guilty act, glancing back repeatedly.
"Why are you running so anxiously? Did you silence that Hermit?" Jiao Jiao asked with confusion upon seeing Lingfeng's strange expression.
Lingfeng smiled wryly and shook his head. "I tricked him into giving me the answer using provocation. That Hermit's cultivation is far above mine; I'm just afraid he might catch on and come after us!"
"What? Come after us?" Fei Fei suddenly perked up, looking back warily. "Then we should run fast! If he catches up with us, we'll be dead in a foreign land! Besides, a beauty like me hasn't even mastered a high-level Demonic Melody yet!"
Fei Fei's words made everyone exchange smiles; they hadn't expected that the usually composed Fei Fei would be so flustered in the face of death.
"What are you afraid of?" Jiao Jiao said fearlessly, sitting on the ground with her hands on her hips, looking like a beautiful shrew. "If he comes, we'll just sing him a song. Once he's completely entranced, we can either kill him or take the chance to escape!"
After leaving the Invisible Ghost, Lingfeng and the others laughed together, unknowingly forgetting their earlier fears. The gossipers did not pursue them; knowing everyone had rested enough and regained most of their strength, they got up and continued walking.
However, this time Lingfeng did not plan to return to He Zhuang. The Invisible Ghost beside him was one of Hezi's subordinates sent to monitor Lingfeng, which put Lingfeng in a difficult position.
After walking for a while, there was only a short distance left to He Zhuang, and a fork in the road appeared ahead. One path led to the Spirit Sect, while the other led to He Zhuang.
Lingfeng stood at the fork, not moving at all. Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao naturally followed Lingfeng and had no objections. However, Invisible Ghost, standing to the side, found it strange that Lingfeng was hesitating and said in a low voice, "This path leads to He Zhuang!"
Lingfeng glanced at Invisible Ghost and straightforwardly expressed his thoughts, saying, "Invisible Ghost, I don't want to go back to He Zhuang. You can go back by yourself; I have other matters to attend to!"
Invisible Ghost was taken aback, unable to see the expression behind the veil. After a moment, he replied, "But you promised the Head of the He Family that you would return after fifteen days. Have you forgotten?"
"There is a saying in China: 'All's fair in war.' My fifteen days were merely a ruse," Lingfeng replied. "Also, tell Hezi that we will have another chance to meet because the Demon Relic is our common goal!" With that, Lingfeng took Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao's hands and walked toward the other path.
However, just as Lingfeng turned his back on Invisible Ghost, he suddenly felt a tremendous wave of energy in the air. At the same time, he sensed three objects resembling marbles flying toward him.
"Trying to ambush me!" Lingfeng scoffed lightly and quickly drew out the Connecting Rod. In a flash of light, the three marble-like objects were caught securely by the Connecting Rod.
Invisible Ghost was taken aback and lowered his head somewhat sheepishly.
"Your cultivation is far inferior to mine. Do not test my limits with methods I dislike!" Lingfeng coldly stated before swinging the Connecting Rod toward Invisible Ghost. The three marbles flew toward Invisible Ghost due to inertia and were caught in his hands.
Lingfeng did not intend to harm Invisible Ghost; he merely wanted to give him a warning that if he dared to follow, he would not hold back.
