Lingfeng glanced around at the crowd and noticed that Dragon Slayer was also dressed neatly, clearly indicating that Dragon Slayer intended to follow him.
However, Lingfeng did not want these people to accompany him; having two beautiful women by his side was enough. Moreover, with too many people around, if something were to happen, it would likely be Lingfeng protecting them rather than the other way around.
"Senior, if you have any doubts about me, I have no objections to them following. But if you do not doubt me, I hope you will allow me to proceed lightly; that way, I can move freely!" Lingfeng stated plainly, observing Hezi's reaction.
Hezi did not dare to go against Lingfeng's wishes at this moment; Lingfeng's words had clearly put Hezi in a difficult position.
"Well..." Hezi pondered for a moment and then said, "But without them guiding you, you might not find Hermit!"
"There's no need for you to worry about that, Senior. The Five Elements have their own measures. Besides, within half a month, the Five Elements will definitely bring the two beauties back!" With that, Lingfeng mounted his horse and left with Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao.
The others did not follow but stood by Hezi's side, waiting for his instructions.
Hezi narrowed his eyes and watched as Lingfeng's figure gradually disappeared outside the door before saying, "Find a few quick-footed individuals to follow the Five Elements discreetly. If anything happens, report to me immediately!"
"Understood!" Dragon Slayer cupped his fists in response and turned to leave.
Lingfeng rode away from He Zhuang with Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao, wandering aimlessly in the Mandala Demon Realm.
In the Mandala Demon Realm, the only true mountain was Demon Spirit Mountain; however, it was currently occupied by Spirit Sect and the demon realm, so some Demon Cultivators and Hermits naturally would not choose to cultivate there.
Lingfeng was also unfamiliar with the characters of the Mandala Demon Realm, so he felt like a headless fly, relying on Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao for guidance.
Yet Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao seemed to have never left He Zhuang before; now that they were outside, everything felt new and exciting to them like newborns.
Lingfeng looked at the two of them with a genuine smile on his face and felt quite happy as he rode along, listening to their cheerful laughter.
"Sister, it seems like we haven't been out for a long time!" At this moment, the three arrived at an open field. Jiao Jiao sniffed the scent of grass with her nose held high.
"Yes," Fei Fei replied. "The last time we went out was about six years ago!"
Lingfeng had been paying attention to the conversation between the two. When Fei Fei spoke, Lingfeng exclaimed in shock, "Six years? You haven't left Alliance for six years?"
"That's right," Jiao Jiao nodded, a hint of sadness crossing her face, like a bird deprived of freedom. "We can only live in He Zhuang, pleasing those who are useful to the Master of the Alliance."
After pondering for a moment, Lingfeng felt sympathy for the experiences of Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao.
"But now it's good," Jiao Jiao said cheerfully like a child. "Now that we've met the Five Elements Young Master, we won't have to be at the mercy of the Master of the Alliance anymore!"
However, Fei Fei did not seem so relaxed. "Things aren't that simple; we can't celebrate too early!"
Lingfeng nodded in agreement. Although Hezi was very polite and caring towards Lingfeng, he understood that Hezi was merely trying to recruit him.
"What do you think he will do next?" Lingfeng asked.
Fei Fei smiled mysteriously and glanced back.
Not understanding what Fei Fei meant, Lingfeng turned around to look. However, the entire field was empty, with no one around and not a single animal in sight.
"It's too quiet!" Lingfeng couldn't help but say.
"Hezi has several subordinates who know some strange Spell. They can hide themselves without a flaw, and skilled ones can kill invisibly, so..." Fei Fei lowered her voice but did not continue.
"There's such a Spell?" Lingfeng found it strange; they weren't gods or ghosts, how could they kill invisibly?
"They often like to act at night!" Jiao Jiao suddenly added.
"At night!" Lingfeng fell into thought, feeling a sense of familiarity. It seemed he had known about such practitioners even before arriving in the Cultivation Realm.
But who exactly were they? Lingfeng had no clue.
"Do you know where they are apprentices from and how they became subordinates of Hezi?" Lingfeng asked again.
Fei Fei thought for a moment, recalling events from many years ago, and said, "Many years ago, Hezi went out on an errand and accidentally discovered those people on the brink of death. He saved them without a second thought. Although he managed to bring them back to life, they never spoke a word and simply obeyed Hezi's commands!"
Indeed, Fei Fei did not know where they came from.
Of course, Lingfeng did not need to be wary of them, as Lingfeng knew that these individuals were only responsible for monitoring him and Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao, and would not take action against Lingfeng and the others.
However, even though Lingfeng was aware of their presence, he had never been able to see their true forms. Sometimes, Lingfeng would deliberately cultivate at night, pretending to be in deep meditation. Although he could occasionally sense something watching him from the woods, he could not detect their presence through Adapt to the Qi Field.
Lingfeng once believed that those people were advanced Demon Cultivators controlled by Hezi. However, he soon dismissed this idea because he felt they were more likely ninjas practicing Ninjutsu.
Yet, the Cultivation Realm was inhabited by cultivators or commoners resembling ancient Chinese people; how could there be ninjas? The only possibility was that they had arrived in the Cultivation Realm through the Four-Dimensional Gate.
That night, Lingfeng and the others arrived at a plain. The vast expanse of land was laid out before them, lifting their spirits.
Lingfeng knew that those following him must have used some Spell to conceal themselves, so he decided to employ a strategy to reveal their true identities.
"Let's rest here, ladies!" Although it was still early, Lingfeng chose to take a break.
Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao exchanged glances. Seeing that it was still some time until evening, they asked in confusion, "It's still early; why are we resting now?"
Lingfeng smiled brightly and sat down on the ground. "The scenery here is beautiful; why not enjoy the sunset?"
"What's so great about a sunset?" Jiao Jiao asked, somewhat lacking in appreciation for romance.
Lingfeng chuckled but said nothing further.
The people of the Cultivation Realm still held some ancient beliefs; they did not understand romantic sentiments. Moreover, Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao had undergone emotionless training in the Alliance for years and were even more perplexed by such things as romance.
Of course, Lingfeng wasn't just looking to watch the sunset. The three of them had come from the west and were currently facing away from it. This meant that those secretly following them were also positioned to the west.
Among them was someone skilled in a concealment technique that could blend into the surrounding scenery, making it difficult for others to detect their presence. However, this concealment technique was most effective at night and least effective during twilight.
As the sun sets, the colors it emits will either cast the earth in red or yellow. These two hues are not easy to blend, even for ninjas. Thus, at this time, those ninjas are most likely to be exposed.
After deciding to stay, Lingfeng always faced west. This way, anyone following Lingfeng would be easily revealed with even the slightest movement.
"Fei Fei, Jiao Jiao, how about we try some outdoor survival today?" Lingfeng lay on the ground, quietly watching Landao.
"Sure! Let's gather some firewood!" Fei Fei said as she pulled Jiao Jiao along.
Lingfeng nodded slightly and casually summoned a stone from Xuanji, lightly playing with it in his hand. Once he saw that Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao had walked far away, he got up and took a few steps toward the west.
When Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao returned with a large bundle of dry branches, they noticed many wild birds had gathered around. Lingfeng stood there with his hands behind his back, looking quite pleased.
"How did you do that?" Fei Fei asked as she looked at the birds on the ground.
Lingfeng raised an eyebrow and tossed aside the blood-stained stone in his hand. "Assassination Technique!"
Before long, the dry branches were ignited. Lingfeng took out the Connecting Rod, transforming it into a skewer to roast the birds over the fire.
Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao were astonished by Lingfeng's extendable rod.
"How did you do that?" Jiao Jiao asked, staring at the Connecting Rod in Lingfeng's hand.
Lingfeng smiled and turned the birds on the skewer. "It has been enchanted; as long as I recite the Incantation, it can extend or retract according to my will!"
Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao nodded in amazement.
In no time, the sun began to dip lower in the sky. The western land was bathed in a fiery hue, making it seem as if the earth was about to transcend.
A wisp of blue smoke rose from the plain, accompanied by a fragrant aroma that spread across the area.
"Wow, it smells so good!" Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao were curious about this outdoor experience since they had never encountered anything like it before. The scent of the birds made them eager to taste what was being cooked.
"How are my skills, Hero?" Lingfeng said, pointing at himself and boasting.
"Great!" Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao replied in unison.
Lingfeng nodded in satisfaction, tore off two bird legs, checked that they were fully cooked, and handed them to Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao.
"Five Elements Young Master, the sun is about to set!" Jiao Jiao suddenly said.
Lingfeng looked up and saw that the sun was indeed at the horizon, about to go down.
At that moment, a wolf howl suddenly came from behind the three of them.
"Wolf pack!" Lingfeng's expression changed; he had forgotten that the aroma of roasted birds could attract wolves.
"Wolf pack?" Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao also looked serious and moved closer to Lingfeng.
Sure enough, gradually, some dark figures appeared on the eastern horizon, and those were canine animals.
