Lingfeng felt quite pleased with himself as he secretly twirled his right index finger in the air. Suddenly, a massive stone figure appeared behind the Fire Serpent.
The stone figure emerged silently, as if it had materialized out of nowhere. Its body was composed of enormous stones, resembling a war god descending to the mortal realm.
Then, Lingfeng's hands abruptly transformed into fists.
In an instant, the stone figure seemed to be granted life; its joints began to move as it took a powerful step forward, raising its gigantic stone arms high before crashing them down.
"Boom!"
With a cloud of dust rising and gravel flying everywhere, a deep pit about one meter wide formed beneath the stone figure's feet.
Lingfeng clicked his tongue in amazement, thinking that this creature's attack power was incredibly strong. He then transformed the stone figure back into a boulder to search for the Fire Serpent's remains in the pit.
However, all he found in the pit was some gravel; there was no trace of the Fire Serpent's body, let alone its core.
"Could it be that the Fire Serpent was crushed to dust?" Lingfeng wondered.
As he pondered this, Lingfeng suddenly noticed a black shadow beside him. The object casting the shadow was right behind him. To his shock, the shadow stood tall and proud, lacking arms and legs—it was the Fire Serpent!
"Phantom Technique!" Lingfeng exclaimed in alarm. The Phantom Technique was a spell similar to a clone technique, but it required speed to be effective. After creating an illusion of itself, the caster needed to move quickly to leave their opponent confused.
Although the Phantom Technique wasn't particularly advanced, it demonstrated that the serpent's speed was unimaginable. At that moment, Lingfeng was in front while the Fire Serpent was behind him, clearly putting him in a passive position.
"There’s nothing here but stones; I’ll have to rely on myself!" Lingfeng thought, refraining from making any large movements. The only thing he could depend on now was the Connecting Rod on his back.
It seemed that he hadn't used the Connecting Rod for quite some time.
Thinking of this, Lingfeng silently recited the Incantation.
The Fire Serpent seemed to be testing Lingfeng's endurance, standing there staring intently at Lingfeng, motionless. However, it did not anticipate that Lingfeng had some unexpected abilities.
As Lingfeng recited the Incantation, the Connecting Rod behind him suddenly appeared to grow longer and thicker. The change was abrupt, and clearly, the Fire Serpent was puzzled by the sudden appearance of this massive object.
The Connecting Rod expanded to three meters high, with Lingfeng standing on top. He laughed triumphantly and said, "Worm, obediently hand over your inner core to me, and I'll leave you with a whole corpse!"
The Fire Serpent could not understand Lingfeng's words and took them as a provocation. Immediately, its body began to coil tightly, seemingly performing a contraction technique. Then, like being catapulted, the Fire Serpent suddenly stretched out its entire body, resembling a red spear, shooting towards Lingfeng.
"Wow! Impressive!" Lingfeng couldn't help but exclaim.
However, since the Fire Serpent was on the Connecting Rod, Lingfeng naturally dared not confront it directly and quickly jumped down from the Connecting Rod.
But the Fire Serpent seemed to have grown wings; seeing Lingfeng jump down, it turned in mid-air and shot towards Lingfeng again at a speed twice that of Lingfeng's.
As soon as Lingfeng's feet touched the ground, he felt a sharp pain in his chest, followed by darkness before he was flung backward.
"Ah!" Lingfeng cried out in pain as he crashed into a large boulder, blood rushing up and flowing from the corner of his mouth.

Just as Lingfeng was feeling a bit smug, he heard a whooshing sound and soon smelled smoke.
"Ah, this guy is using fire attacks!" Lingfeng exclaimed happily.
Seeing that Lingfeng did not come out, the Fire Serpent began to roast the giant stones with fire.
This aligned perfectly with Lingfeng's thoughts. Knowing the Five Elements Technique, Lingfeng decided to use the Fire Serpent's flames to attack it.
The Fire Serpent was originally a fire-type creature; it just hadn't reached a certain level of cultivation. Otherwise, it could have wielded the power of true fire, which would have melted those giant stones in an instant, putting Lingfeng in a much less favorable position.
Just then, the flames spewed by the Fire Serpent found their way through the cracks in the stones. Seizing the opportunity, Lingfeng reached out and caught the flames in his palm.
The flame entered Lingfeng's hand like a red pom-pom, making him overjoyed.
Then, Lingfeng recited an incantation, causing the giant stones to slowly move backward. The Fire Serpent was behind the stones and, seeing them move, instinctively began to retreat as well.
This provided Lingfeng with a perfect opportunity. He quickly jumped onto the giant stone and aimed at the Fire Serpent before launching a massive fireball. The fireball flew from Lingfeng's palm, yet the flame in his hand showed no signs of diminishing.
The Fire Serpent thought it was a master of fire control but did not realize it had encountered another expert today.
Although Lingfeng's fireball came with great force and wind sounds, the Fire Serpent paid it no mind and stood still.
Lingfeng was overjoyed, believing he could hit the Fire Serpent. However, to his surprise, the Fire Serpent opened its mouth wide and effortlessly swallowed Lingfeng's fireball as if it were devouring a mouse.
Lingfeng couldn't help but click his tongue in disbelief but forgot that the Fire Serpent was inherently a creature that controlled fire; how could it possibly regard such a fireball as a threat?
After thinking for a moment, Lingfeng realized that this creature's nemesis was water, but there were only stones here, and even the soil that could barely extinguish fire was absent.
"Although this guy isn't afraid of fire, if I can use Gold Manipulation and Fire Control Technique simultaneously, let's see if it can handle that!"
With this thought, Lingfeng transformed the fire into a massive hand and struck at the Fire Serpent.
The hand was three times the size of the Fire Serpent, which naturally did not have a mouth that large and had no choice but to dodge to the side.
"Boom!" The fiery hand slammed into the ground, instantly shattering a small stone into pieces.

The Fire Serpent indeed fell for the trap; it opened its mouth wide and swallowed the fiery fist once more.
Lingfeng felt delighted, thinking that this creature had truly taken the bait.
After swallowing the stone, the Fire Serpent appeared as if it were a pregnant snake, with a large bulge in its belly where the stone was lodged. The Fire Serpent seemed to notice something unusual about its body but paid no mind; it merely continued to squirm in place, slowly moving the stone forward.
"Ha, great! You want to spit it out!" Lingfeng recognized the Fire Serpent's intention, but he wouldn't allow it. He picked up the Connecting Rod and struck at the Fire Serpent.
However, although the Fire Serpent's body was restricted, its speed of movement did not slow down. It shook its head and transformed into a red flash, instantly disappearing without a trace.
Lingfeng was taken aback and hurriedly looked behind him, but there was no sign of the Fire Serpent.
At this moment, having swallowed the stone and unable to expel its internal fire seed, the Fire Serpent naturally would not attack proactively and took advantage of this opportunity to escape.

The beak of the black bird was also black and curved at the tip, giving off a sense of resilience and strength. Its two claws were hidden beneath its feathers, resembling two tiger claws that sent chills down one's spine.
"What is that?" Lingfeng watched from a distance as the large black bird soared above but could not identify what kind of animal it was.
