While laughing to himself, Lingfeng suddenly heard someone calling him from behind. 0

Lingfeng instinctively turned around and saw that it was the White-Faced Disciple. The White-Faced Disciple was a head taller than Lingfeng and was softly calling out to him, which made Lingfeng feel a bit embarrassed. 0

"Oh, it's you. What do you need?" Lingfeng's tone softened considerably; he understood the principle of being forgiving when possible. 0

"Shixu, I..." the White-Faced Disciple scratched his head, seemingly hesitant to speak. 0

Lingfeng smiled kindly, "Just say what you need. Don't take today's events to heart; I just arrived and am unfamiliar with this place. Let's be friends from now on!" 0

The White-Faced Disciple seemed pleasantly surprised and nodded repeatedly, saying, "That's great, Shixu! My name is Zhi Lian. That Short Taoist Priest is my junior brother, named Zhi Yu. If you need anything in the future, just let us know." 0

Lingfeng nodded and sat down on a stone platform by the roadside, asking, "Can you tell me about this place?" 0

"Sure," Zhi Lian sat beside Lingfeng, no longer feeling as nervous as before. "This world is called the Cultivation Realm, a place for various cultivators, Demon Cultivators, magical beasts, and supernatural creatures. We are at the Demon Suppression Daoist Temple, which is a temple but also functions as a sect. It belongs to a branch of the Maoshan Sect, but that was thousands of years ago; now we are purely focused on demon suppression and cultivation." 0

"And what about cultivation?" Lingfeng asked again. 0

Zhi Lian was taken aback; he didn't expect Lingfeng to be unaware of cultivation. He explained, "Cultivation is the process of training to ascend to immortality. However, not everyone can cultivate; some people may work hard their entire lives and still not reach the level of ascension. In the Demon Suppression Daoist Temple, those with higher cultivation levels include the Sect Leader, Azure Vine Shixu, and Qingzhi Shixu." 0

"Brother?" Hearing Azure Vine's name made Lingfeng's nerves tighten; he didn't expect Azure Vine to be among the top cultivators here. 0

"The Sect Leader is currently at the Late Stage of Nascent Soul, while Azure Vine Shixu is at the Nascent Soul Stage. As for Qingzhi Shixu, he recently reached the early stage of Spiritual Tranquility! Others are at even lower levels. Moreover, every time one advances a level, both their power and age increase. Once they reach the Great Ascension stage, they can attain longevity." 0

"What about you? What level have you reached?" 0

Zhi Lian smiled awkwardly, "My aptitude isn't great; I've been here for five years and have just begun foundation building." 0

Lingfeng smiled as well; in fact, he hadn't even reached foundation building yet. He changed the subject and said somewhat sadly, "The Sect Leader will call me to study!" 0

"New disciples need to enter the academy. If you don't learn some characters, your future cultivation will be even more difficult!" Zhi Lian then looked around mysteriously and whispered, "But you should be careful. The teacher at the academy is named Li Desheng and is quite strict. Because he has a limp in one leg, everyone secretly calls him Lame Li!" 0

"Oh," Lingfeng casually remembered. 0

"He is a well-known figure from Demon Suppression Mountain, and no one knows the level of his cultivation; he has always been very mysterious. He doesn't teach people spells, only literature. However, it is said that during the gang wars a hundred years ago, Lame Li achieved remarkable military exploits. But why he prefers to remain so low-key has always been a mystery!" Zhi Lian added. 0

"Oh," Lingfeng nodded thoughtfully and then smiled lightly, "It's fine; when soldiers come, we will block them; when water comes, we will cover it." 0

The second meal was brought by Zhi Lian and Zhi Yu, along with some books and other items. 0

Azure Vine had disappeared early in the morning, leaving the bed in disarray. Lingfeng was used to making his bed, so after getting up, he tidied both his and Azure Vine's bedding. 0

After eating, Lingfeng changed into his robe and took some textbooks. Under the guidance of Zhi Lian and Zhi Yu, he arrived at a secluded courtyard of the Auxiliary Temple. 0

The courtyard was quite desolate; an ancient tree had already withered, and the ground was covered with fallen leaves that no one had cleaned up. Groups of students were scattered in various corners of the yard, all shaking their heads. Although they were studying, they looked listless; they appeared to be two or three years older than Lingfeng. 0

Zhi Lian led Lingfeng into a room and approached a side hall. He knocked on a door and said, "Master Li, I have brought Lingfeng Shixu!" 0

"Come in!" The voice was somewhat hoarse and gave off a feeling of suffocation. 0

"Shixu, you go in; I will leave first!" With that, Zhi Lian walked away. 0

Lingfeng felt nervous; after all, he was just a ten-year-old child facing someone who might be difficult to deal with, which was truly daunting. 0

After hesitating for a moment, Lingfeng pushed the door open and entered. 0

In the small room sat a frail old man facing north. He held a book that Lingfeng could not understand and squinted at it. 0

Hearing Lingfeng's entrance, Lame Li (Li Desheng) put down the book and glanced at Lingfeng indifferently. 0

"You are the new disciple?" Lame Li asked slowly. 0

"Yes!" Lingfeng replied, not wanting to say much more or continue listening to Lame Li. 0

"Bang!" Lame Li suddenly slammed the book down on the table and shouted in dissatisfaction, "No manners. Don't you know that when answering your master, you should first say, 'Yes, Master'?" 0

Lingfeng was startled; he didn't expect to be met with such hostility right after arriving. But he still cursed inwardly, "Damn cripple, even the sect leader shows me some respect. When can you teach me a lesson!" 0

"Why aren't you speaking?" Lame Li's voice returned to calmness. 0

"Yes... Yes, Master," the three simple words were forced out of Lingfeng's mouth, "I understand!" 0

"What do you understand?" Lame Li was indeed a difficult character, still pressing on. 0

Lingfeng gritted his teeth in frustration, thinking that unless you explicitly expel me, I will make your life miserable. "Yes, Master, I understand the rules!" The words were almost squeezed out between his teeth. 0

"Mm~~~!" Lame Li hummed slowly and placed the book in front of Lingfeng. "Read this!" 0

Reading again! Lingfeng regretted it deeply; it seemed this old fellow intended to make things difficult for him. He immediately said, "I don't recognize cursive writing!" 0

"Then learn it well!" This time, Lame Li surprisingly did not get angry. 0

Thus, Lingfeng spent his first day in class immersed in boring textbooks. 0

However, Lingfeng got along quite well with the other disciples. To avoid trouble, he did not act like a senior brother but referred to everyone as fellow disciples. Being the last to arrive, he naturally was the youngest and should be called junior brother. 0

One disciple who left a deep impression on Lingfeng was called Monkey Head by everyone. He had a sharp face and looked just like a monkey. His body was thin but incredibly agile. Monkey Head's eyes sparkled mischievously, suggesting he had a few tricks up his sleeve. 0

Before school ended, Lingfeng discussed with a few senior brothers about coming early tomorrow morning to surprise Lame Li. 0

Although others felt somewhat puzzled, they still nodded in agreement. 0

Actually, Lingfeng and Monkey Head did not leave. After Lame Li locked the door, the two of them climbed over the wall to enter the classroom. 0

The earliest to arrive was still Lame Li, and he was also the last to leave. Therefore, Lingfeng came up with a mischievous idea to hang a bucket of water on the classroom door. This method had been tried and tested in the class, and someone always fell for it. 0

Lingfeng was so excited that he couldn't sleep well all night. Just thinking about Lame Li drenched in water made him laugh. 0

Secondly, it was still Zhi Lian who brought the meals. 0

"By the way, Zhi Lian, do you know where my Brother is?" Azure Vine had not returned all night, and this kind of late-night absence had never happened to Azure Vine before. 0

"Oh, I heard that Azure Vine went out with Shixu and the sect leader. We don't know where they went; it's not something we disciples should know." 0

"Oh," Lingfeng nodded thoughtfully. In the past, it seemed that Azure Vine and the sect leader did not have a good relationship. He wondered what would happen since they went out together. 0

"By the way, Zhi Lian, you don't need to bring me meals anymore. From now on, I'll go eat by myself!" Lingfeng instructed again. It was indeed not easy for Zhi Lian to travel back and forth from Auxiliary Temple to Main Hall, which was over ten miles in the mountains. Moreover, there was a kitchen specifically for the sect leader at Main Hall, and the chefs were already familiar with him. Every morning he could go to the kitchen and eat whatever he wanted. 0

Zhi Lian nodded gratefully. 0

After eating, Lingfeng arrived at the classroom early. As expected, a group of students stood in a row, receiving Lame Li's scolding. 0

"Who came up with such a ridiculous idea? It's simply outrageous!" Lame Li stood in front of the students, his hair wet like a drenched chicken, shouting angrily. 0

Lingfeng stuck out his tongue and was about to turn around to escape when he heard a terrifying voice, "Lingfeng, where do you think you're running off to? Get back here and stand straight!" 0

Lingfeng calmly stood among everyone, waiting for the storm to arrive. 0

"Lingfeng, tell me, whose idea was this?" Lame Li asked maliciously. 0

Lingfeng rolled his eyes and respectfully replied, "Master, it was my junior brother's idea!" 0

Everyone was surprised that Lingfeng would actually admit it. It should be noted that Lame Li's punishment methods were quite terrifying. 0

Lame Li was also slightly taken aback. 0

Lingfeng continued, "As a newcomer, I haven't made any contributions to the Demon Suppression Daoist Temple or to the masters and brothers in the academy. So I came up with this anti-theft method; as soon as someone tries to steal, this bucket will spill water. However, I didn't expect that the one caught would be my master!" 0

Monkey Head secretly gave a thumbs up, unable to suppress a chuckle. 0

"Oh~~~" Lame Li showed an expression of understanding and suddenly shouted, "You scoundrel! Under the sun of Qinghua, where did the thief come from? Moreover, this is the Demon Suppression Daoist Temple; I don't believe anyone would have the audacity to come here and steal something." 0

"While it's easy to guard against open theft, it's hard to defend against hidden thieves!" Lingfeng blurted out. 0

Lame Li was momentarily stunned and couldn't help but chuckle a bit, but still asked, "Oh, so you mean we have a House Thief here? Then who is the House Thief? I'll kick him out of the sect immediately." 0

Lingfeng was at a loss for words; this truly put him in a difficult position. He had just arrived, and even if there was a House Thief, he wouldn't know who it was. "Lingfeng doesn't mean that!" 0

"Hmph!" Lame Li snorted coldly and said loudly, "I know you're still brooding over yesterday's incident. I won't make it hard for you; you can skip today's class and go do handstands by the wall. You can stop whenever I say so!" 0

Lingfeng felt a glimmer of hope. He thought Lame Li might come up with some creative punishment for the students, but it turned out to be nothing more than this. Doing handstands was a piece of cake for Lingfeng. 0
