It’s Lu Zhenhuan!
He was tied up, his mouth covered with black tape.
As soon as he saw me, he shouted excitedly, but I couldn't say a word.
His eyes were bloodshot, like a mad beast.
He looked at me, then at Boss Black, and roared at him.
Boss Black completely ignored him and instead smiled at me, saying,
"Don't worry, I won't kill you. I want to use you to draw him out."
"He protects you so much; he's willing to do anything for you.
As long as you're in our hands, he will definitely come out."
I couldn't help but worry—were they referring to Lu Zhenhuan?
He protects me that much?
What does that mean?
I looked at Lu Zhenhuan; he was staring at me with intense anger in his eyes.
What was he angry about?
I wasn't scared; why was he?
"Lu Zhenhuan," Boss Black walked in front of Lu Zhenhuan and punched him, "Look at you now."
"Weren't you so arrogant?"
"Weren't you going to kill me?"
"Come on!"
As he spoke, he punched Lu Zhenhuan in the stomach again.
Lu Zhenhuan's face turned pale from the pain,
but he still shouted at me, "Let her go!"
Boss Black snorted coldly, "Let her go? Do you think I'm stupid?"
"If I let her go, will you still kill me?"
"If you want me to let her go, then kneel down, slap yourself, and repent!"
"Okay!"
Lu Zhenhuan readily agreed; he removed the black tape and knelt on the ground, raising his hand to slap his own face.
"Not heavy enough!"
Lu Zhenhuan increased his strength.
"Hit harder!"
Lu Zhenhuan slapped his own face repeatedly, and the sound made my heart ache.
His underlings also came over to hit him; he did not fight back, allowing them to punch and kick him.
I was suspended in mid-air, watching him being humiliated, beaten until he was covered in wounds, tears streaming down my face from the pain.
Why?
Why was he doing this?
Wasn't he afraid of death?
No! He was afraid of death!
But for my sake, he was willing to die.
I suddenly realized that I had developed deep feelings for him.
I looked at him, tears flowing freely.
He glanced at me and continued to confess,
"I was wrong; I shouldn't have betrayed you five years ago, I shouldn't have allied with the police against you, I shouldn't have tried to assassinate you."
"It is I who should die!"
"It is I who am ungrateful!"
"It is I who am heartless!"
Boss Black seemed to recall something upon hearing these words; he narrowed his eyes and said, "You remember quite clearly."
"Of course, I will never forget it in my life."
"Good!" Boss Black snorted coldly,
"Since you remember so well, then cut off one of your hands, and I will believe you."
"Alright!"
I watched as Lu Zhenhuan picked up a stick beside him and brought it down towards his hand...
"Don't!"
I screamed sharply, struggling as tears streamed down my face.
Lu Zhenhuan looked at me.
Then, without hesitation, he picked up a nearby machete and swung it down...
"No!"
I went mad, screaming with a heart-wrenching cry.
Lu Zhenhuan wrapped his clothes around his wound, veins bulging on his forehead, cold sweat pouring down, yet he still glared at Boss Black. "Can you let her go?"
Boss Black was also startled, taking a while to regain his composure before ordering his men to release me.
As soon as I was free, I rushed to Lu Zhenhuan's side. He reached out and held me, asking, "Are you okay?"
I cried and couldn't speak, only able to hold him tightly.
"Don't cry, I'm fine."
How could he be fine? He had lost his hand.
I looked at his left hand, my heart aching terribly.
"Does it hurt?" I asked him.
He shook his head. "It doesn't hurt."
How could it not hurt?
He was lying to me.
"It hurts," I said.
"Then give it a kiss and it won't hurt anymore."
I kissed his wound and then pressed my lips against his.
He wrapped his arms around my waist, responding passionately.
