Hearing Zhang Yang's roar, Mu Rujun stopped in her tracks, her body trembling with anger, causing her ample chest to quiver slightly.
"From now on, in Law class, if he's there, I won't be; if I'm there, he won't be!" With that, Mu Rujun did not look back and continued walking forward.
Suddenly, Mu Rujun felt a figure appear in front of her. She couldn't stop in time and nearly collided with him. Upon closer inspection, she realized that Zhang Yang had already blocked her path, though his expression had returned to calm.
"Teacher Mu, my name is Zhang Yang. Let me make this clear. It was indeed wrong of me to read other materials during your class, and I formally apologize for that. However, you throwing my book on the ground was your mistake. You are the teacher, and I don't need an apology from you. Please pick up my book. Thank you."
Cai Fengfeng and Wang Zhongwei were stunned, while Chen Xiangyu thought to himself, "He usually seems quite rational; why is he clashing with a female teacher now? First the roar, then a long string of words. These last few sentences seem calm but are clearly laced with threats; it seems like if she doesn't pick it up, something will happen..."
"Zhang Yang, is it? You need to understand your own position!" Mu Rujun's chest heaved as her face turned pale.
"My position is that of a Chinese Citizen, just like you. Please pick up the book," Zhang Yang said firmly, his piercing gaze making Mu Rujun feel quite uncomfortable.
"Step aside!" After a moment's thought, Mu Rujun reached out to push Zhang Yang away. Unexpectedly, he dodged at the last moment, causing her to stumble and nearly fall. Once she regained her balance, Zhang Yang again stood in front of her.
"Waah..." Mu Rujun surprisingly covered her face with one hand and began to cry.
"A young man bullying a female teacher..." some students began to murmur.
Zhang Yang truly did not expect this situation to arise; he instinctively stepped aside to let her pass as Mu Rujun ran out of the classroom in tears.
"What the hell! Is she Pan Jinlian? Are you Wu Song? Do you two have a grudge against each other? How will this end?" Chen Xiangyu rushed forward to say.
"I didn't expect it to turn out like this either; this book was a gift from my godmother." With that, Zhang Yang walked back near his seat and picked up the book "Medicinal Plants" from the floor.
"Mu Rujun has had a smooth journey; she has never left campus. After graduating with a PhD from Yanjing University, she came to teach at Huaxia University of Political Science and Law. She's never faced such humiliation before. I doubt even if you go find her to apologize now it will resolve anything," Chen Xiangyu remarked.
"I already apologized to her earlier; I won't do it again. At worst, I just won't take this class," Zhang Yang said as he packed up the book and walked towards the classroom door with Chen Xiangyu.
In the classroom, discussions were rising and falling, and Zhang Yang couldn't help but smile bitterly to himself.
Before he could leave the teaching building, his phone suddenly rang; it was a call from his advisor: "Zhang Yang, Dean Long wants you to come to his office."
"Damn, he found out about it so quickly?" Zhang Yang replied. "Dean Long, Long Shaoxing, is the Vice Dean of Huaxia University of Political Science and Law and also the head of our Law Department. He's a legendary figure." Chen Xiangyu's eyes lit up. "If Dean Long can step in to mediate, then this won't be a problem."
"Yeah." Zhang Yang pondered for a moment. "It seems he wants to calm this matter down; otherwise, there would be no need to talk to me alone."
He knocked on the door and entered Long Shaoxing's office, where smoke lingered in the air. Although Zhang Yang usually smoked, he couldn't help but cough a couple of times.
Behind a large desk sat a thin, dark-skinned middle-aged man whose long hair was already streaked with gray. His face was lined with deep creases, but his eyes shone brightly. Zhang Yang thought to himself: Is this the renowned professor, advisor, and lawyer? He looked more like a disheveled street musician.
Or perhaps more like an old hustler.
"Dean Long, I hope I'm not interrupting your work," Zhang Yang said as he approached the desk.
"I called you here; talking to you is my current job. Your pleasantries are rather dull," Long Shaoxing replied, brushing off some ash and casually pulling out a Panda cigarette from a yellow box on the desk, tossing it to Zhang Yang.
"Wow, pretty bold," Zhang Yang said as he caught the cigarette, unable to hold back his words.
"What’s going on between you and Teacher Mu?" Long Shaoxing asked directly without acknowledging Zhang Yang's comment.
"What did she tell you?"
"She said that as long as you're around, she won't teach the jurisprudence class anymore."
Upon hearing this, Zhang Yang recounted the entire situation and finally asked, "Dean Long, what do you think I should do?"
"You seem quite attached to this book. As a student in Law School, how did your godmother give you such a book?" Long Shaoxing did not directly answer Zhang Yang's question; he extinguished one cigarette and lit another. Zhang Yang thought to himself that he was quite the smoker; no wonder the office looked like this.
Zhang Yang did not hide anything and told Long Shaoxing about his single-parent background, his employment at Heavenly Mechanism Group, and his participation in Blade Training Camp.
"Oh? From your demeanor, you don't seem like a ten-year-old kid. Kid, you're quite impressive," Long Shaoxing said with a southern accent. Given his status, such words surprised Zhang Yang. Just as he was about to speak, Long Shaoxing continued:
"I'll call Teacher Mu over. You don't need to apologize; just explain your background to her. Your biological mother is nowhere to be found, and your Godmother is probably the only relative you can contact, right? Let her know this; I'm sure she'll understand why you blocked her." Long Shaoxing smiled: "Teacher Mu hasn't experienced much hardship, so it's hard for her to recover from grievances. You're a man; this time, lower your noble head a bit."
"He's really quite the old rogue," Zhang Yang thought to himself but ultimately nodded in agreement.
When Mu Rujun entered and saw Zhang Yang there, she almost turned to leave but sat down due to Long Shaoxing's presence. "Zhang Yang, you were too impulsive in this matter," Long Shaoxing said while opening the window slightly to disperse the smoke.
"Dean Long is right; I was indeed too impulsive at that time. Mainly because this book was given to me by my Godmother..." Zhang Yang spoke without caring whether Mu Rujun was listening seriously or not. He talked about living alone, getting into university, then being taken under his Godmother's wing, and how good she had been to him. Of course, he did not mention Heavenly Mechanism Group or Blade Training Camp.
In the end, Zhang Yang added: "Now that I'm with my Godmother, my medical skills have improved. If Teacher Mu has any headaches or fevers, I can treat them for free..."
"Do I get sick that easily?" Mu Rujun's expression softened. Seizing the moment, Zhang Yang said: "Teacher Mu, next time in law class, I'll formally apologize to you, and I guarantee I'll score above 90 on the law exam."
This matter was resolved just like that, and Mu Rujun left first. Just as Zhang Yang was about to take his leave, he heard Long Shaoxing say: "Kid, are you interested in applying for my graduate program?"
