Chen Xiangyu looked at the finished dishes and said to the three, "You guys should eat and drink. I'll be right back." He then walked out with the girl.
"Who is that girl?" After they left, Zhang Yang asked Cai Fengfeng and Wang Zhongwei.
"Chen Xiangyu's girlfriend," Cai Fengfeng replied.
"Not a girlfriend, but childhood friends. They have known each other since they were young, and now they came from Yanjing to Shanzhou together," Wang Zhongwei said. "Her name is Chu Ruoxi, and she is also from our school, but not from our Law School; she is in the Legal News major."
"I ran into her on the bus," Zhang Yang then told Cai Fengfeng and Wang Zhongwei about his encounter with her on the bus.
"What? That happened? When Chen Xiangyu comes back, let him explain it to Chu Ruoxi. Otherwise, if she broadcasts it around the school, your reputation will definitely be ruined," Wang Zhongwei laughed.
In fact, Chu Ruoxi had called Chen Xiangyu outside to talk about this matter. When she heard that Zhang Yang shared a dorm with them, she couldn't help but say, "Don't be fooled by how he looks; he's just a polished turd. Think about it, a college student acting lewd on a bus."
"No way, Miss Chu, I don't think he's that kind of person," Chen Xiangyu replied.
"I was touched by him, and you still..." Chu Ruoxi pouted.
"Hahaha, how about I introduce you two? You could make a good pair," Chen Xiangyu couldn't help but laugh. In reality, Chen Xiangyu and Chu Ruoxi's relationship was not as Cai Fengfeng and Wang Zhongwei described; they had known each other for over ten years due to their parents' work connections. They were very familiar with each other and their relationship was more like buddies or close friends rather than romantic partners.
Hearing this, Chu Ruoxi angrily exclaimed, "You are something else, Chen Xiangyu! I thought of you as my male best friend, and here you are trying to push me away!"
"Okay, okay, don't be angry. You go back to your table first; I'll ask Zhang Yang what happened," Chen Xiangyu coaxed.
"Zhang Yang? He really is something else! Acting so recklessly on the bus; he should be called Zhang Wild Claw!" After saying this, Chu Ruoxi huffed and walked away in anger.
When Chen Xiangyu returned and sat down, Zhang Yang immediately spoke up: "I’m sorry; is she your girlfriend? There was a misunderstanding on the bus that I need to explain."
"Haha, did you touch her?" Chen Xiangyu picked up a piece of kidney.
"No. A perverted guy touched her; she thought it was me. I tried to explain, but he wouldn't listen," Zhang Yang said.
"What's the big deal? I'll just talk to her later. She's not my girlfriend, just a childhood friend, buddy. Oh, by the way, if you like her, I can introduce her to you as a girlfriend; she's quite beautiful, isn't she?" Chen Xiangyu laughed.
"Dude, is this your childhood sweetheart?!" Zhang Yang said to Cai Fengfeng and Wang Zhongwei, "Turns out you two didn't even understand the situation."
After finishing their meal, Chen Xiangyu went to find Chu Ruoxi. However, after explaining everything, Chu Ruoxi still didn't believe him and insisted that Zhang Yang was a pervert. Chen Xiangyu didn't think it was a big deal at first, but seeing that Chu Ruoxi wouldn't listen, he decided not to say more.
When he returned home that evening, Chen Xiangyu told Zhang Yang, "Chu Ruoxi doesn't believe me; I can't shake off your pervert label."
"This girl is quite strong," Zhang Yang thought to himself.
The next afternoon, with no classes scheduled, Zhang Yang decided to check out the herbal market in Shanzhou after his morning classes ended around noon. He headed straight for the school gate.
It was already 11:30 AM, right under the blazing sun.
"Great, how come I ran into her again?" Before he even exited the school gate, Zhang Yang spotted Chu Ruoxi standing on one side of the entrance. She wore a short-sleeved light pink cotton shirt and a light yellow mini skirt, seemingly waiting for someone.
The little loli's outfit paired with her stunning looks should have captivated anyone's attention. However, Zhang Yang was taken aback and quickly walked around to the other side of the gate. As he walked, he stole glances at Chu Ruoxi, thinking that if he couldn't provoke her, he could at least avoid her.
Just then, Zhang Yang noticed that Chu Ruoxi's face turned pale and her eyes appeared dazed. Suddenly, she swayed and fainted on the ground.
At this point, how could Zhang Yang just stand by? He rushed over and took a closer look; it seemed she had suffered from heatstroke.
Zhang Yang and a female classmate who stepped forward carried Chu Ruoxi into the school's Communication Room and laid her on a bench with two books under her head. The girl took out some cooling oil from her bag and applied it to Chu Ruoxi's temples and philtrum. She then called the school's infirmary.
"Here's some cooling oil for you; the doctor from the infirmary will be here soon. The security guard from the Communication Room went to get lunch; I have something to attend to, so you take care of your girlfriend for a bit," the girl said before turning to leave.
"Wait?" Zhang Yang started to say something but she had already exited the Communication Room.
Inside the Communication Room, there was an electric fan, and Chu Ruoxi's complexion improved significantly. Zhang Yang suddenly noticed that Chu Ruoxi's breathing seemed labored; the first button of her shirt was slightly tight while she lay down. After hesitating for a moment, he decided to unbutton it.
Just as he unbuttoned it and his hand hadn't left her shirt yet, Chu Ruoxi suddenly opened her eyes. Seeing Zhang Yang's hand near her chest with her button undone, she quickly sat up and covered her button area with her hand: "Help! Someone's being a pervert!"
Seeing this situation unfold, Chu Ruoxi seemed determined to raise an alarm in the Communication Room. Zhang Yang initially thought about covering her mouth but reconsidered; at that moment, Chu Ruoxi kicked her legs a few times, causing her light yellow skirt to shift and reveal cartoon patterns on her underwear.
"How chaotic!" Zhang Yang said, both angry and amused, avoiding eye contact and turning his head to the side.
At that moment, a security guard from the Communication Room returned with an aluminum lunch box. Upon seeing the man and woman on the bench, he couldn't help but grin.
"Hey, security brother, call the police! This guy is a pervert; he just tried to act indecent!" Chu Ruoxi shouted. "He just unbuttoned my clothes right before you came in." With that, she quickly buttoned her clothes back up.
"Bro, don't get me wrong; I was just trying to help her," Zhang Yang exclaimed in distress as a few passing students leaned in to listen.
"This student really knows how to help a lady. On such a hot day, you two could have gone to the movies with the air conditioning instead of causing a scene in the Communication Room," the security guard said as he set down the lunch box. Clearly, he mistook Zhang Yang and Chu Ruoxi for a couple having a spat.
What on earth is going on!
"Everyone, stop talking and listen to me!!!" Zhang Yang suddenly shouted. His shout was effective; it immediately silenced the room.
"She fainted from heatstroke at the school gate. A female classmate and I carried her in, and then that classmate applied some cooling oil before leaving in a hurry. When someone suffers from heatstroke, tight clothing can hinder breathing and recovery, so I unbuttoned the first button. Just then, she woke up; it's that simple—it's all a misunderstanding!" Zhang Yang explained in one breath like setting off firecrackers.
"Nonsense! Where's that female classmate? Why didn't you unbutton it when she was here?" Chu Ruoxi's face regained its color, and her mind became sharper.
