I looked at him expressionlessly, not saying a word.
Seeing that I was silent, Yuhiheng crawled in front of me and grabbed my pant leg, "Ahui, what do you want Dad to do to be forgiven?"
Whispers arose from the crowd.
"Isn't this girl too heartless? He's kneeling down begging her, yet she remains unmoved."
"Yeah, it’s really heartbreaking to watch."
I lowered my head and stared into Yuhiheng's eyes, speaking each word clearly, "What do you want me to do to let you go?"
Yuhiheng was taken aback, tears streaming down even more fiercely. I took a deep breath and stood up.
Yuhiheng, you don't deserve to be my father. You will never know that for me, you are a nightmare. As long as you are around, I will never find peace.
Just as the crowd grew larger, a hand suddenly pulled me away.
"What are you looking at? Never seen a fraud before?"
I looked up in surprise at Sun Yunfei. Sun Yunfei coldly glanced at Yuhiheng, who was kneeling on the ground: "He died a long time ago; how could he possibly be kneeling here?"
Yuhiheng froze for a moment before standing up and pointing at Sun Yunfei, cursing loudly: "You little brat, who are you cursing?"
Sun Yunfei sneered: "I saw you when your daughter was working as a maid in my house. Back then, you were quite arrogant, even daring to hit the security guard. Why are you playing the victim now?"
"Oh, I remember now, you were taken away by the police. Did someone teach you a lesson in there, making you realize that playing the victim is the way to go?"
As soon as the people around heard this, the tide turned.
"So it turns out he's a fraud. I really thought the daughter wouldn't forgive her father; I wasted my sympathy on him."
"Should we call the police? People like this on the street are a threat to public safety."
Seeing the situation turn against him, Yuhiheng muttered, "You all wait for me," and fled in a hurry.
Sun Yunfei lowered his head and asked with concern, "Are you okay?"
I shook my head and countered, "What are you doing here?"
Sun Yunfei touched his nose and chuckled awkwardly, "Is it not allowed?"
I looked at his tousled hair and the denim jacket he was wearing, slightly frowning, "Did you change your style?"
Sun Yunfei was taken aback for a moment before smiling, "Yeah, what do you think? Does it look good?"
"I don't have time to deal with you." I pushed him away. "I can handle my own matters; you don't need to worry about me."
Sun Yunfei pouted and fell silent.
I didn't tell my mom about this incident. I called the police directly, but they said there was no substantial harm and they couldn't intervene.
After hanging up, I fell into deep thought.
That night while I was trying to sleep, I received a text from Yuhiheng.
"Yuhui, I know you're capable now and don't think much of me as your father. That's fine; just give me five hundred thousand, and I'll never bother you again."
"Otherwise, you'll have to bear the consequences."
I coldly deleted the message.
How could I believe Yuhiheng's words?
He was like my chronic illness; unless thoroughly cured, it would never get better.
I would no longer let him manipulate me.
I replied to his message.
"Fine, five hundred thousand it is. Let's meet, and I'll give you the money."
Soon, Yuhiheng sent over the address.
"Ten o'clock tonight, come alone, or I'll go after your mom."
Expressionless, I tossed my phone aside.
At ten o'clock that night, I arrived at the address Yuhiheng had sent, cash in hand.
The old streetlights flickered in disrepair.
Yuhiheng had been waiting there, fidgeting anxiously.
As soon as he saw me, his eyes lit up, and he rushed over.
I took a step back: "I've brought the money; it's on the ground, pick it up yourself."
Yuhiheng's eyes were fixed on the box on the ground.
Rubbing his hands together, he squatted down to pick it up.
I watched him calmly.
Greedy, lewd, selfish, and brutal—that was the kind of person he was.
My childhood had lived in his shadow.
Yuhiheng quickly finished picking up the money and stood up, grinning widely: "My daughter is great; she knows how to honor her father."
I looked at him expressionlessly: "Yuhiheng, this is the last time I'm calling you 'Dad.'"
"If you ever harass me or my mom again, I will not let you off."
Yuhiheng's smile froze on his face: "Ahui, what do you mean by that?"
