The group of men in black who burst out from the container that was supposed to be filled with drugs quickly took down the twenty sailors gathered on the deck, including Captain Fetter. The twenty or so individuals had no time to resist before they fell into a pool of blood. These black-clad men were warriors from the Beng Hu Company, led by Qin Dali. It turned out that Qin Dali had received a notification from Xin Yi a few days earlier, instructing him to lead the Beng Hu Company warriors to Abayir for a mission. This operation was further supported by Yang Wencai, who provided all the vehicles, weapons, and uniforms of Taiwan Army personnel. He also arranged for two veterans familiar with Taiwan's terrain and military deployments to accompany the troops. Along the way, they disguised four transport vehicles as ordinary trucks, covering the front with plastic sheeting that resembled regular cargo trucks and re-covering the cargo area with ordinary tarpaulin. As a result, they encountered no inspections from the Mingguo Party army during their journey.
The Beng Hu Company brothers had only arrived in Abayir the night before but did not enter the city. Instead, they set up camp in a valley more than ten kilometers away from Abayir. At this point, they removed the disguises from their transport vehicles, which were painted to resemble those of the Mingguo Party army. Since they were also wearing Mingguo Party military uniforms, even if someone noticed them, they would only assume they were an authentic unit of the Mingguo Party.
When dawn broke, Qin Dali received orders from Xin Yi, and the entire convoy of six vehicles set off on the main road towards a seaside dock over three hundred kilometers away from Abayir. The escorting troops believed this was an army assigned to protect Limin Group's vehicles and faced no obstacles along the way; local military vehicles even helped clear other vehicles from their path. Of course, local military forces could not have known about the internal explosion within Limin Group. Not only were local military personnel unaware, but even among Abayir's high-ranking officials, only a few knew about it. Regular soldiers and residents of Abayir remained in the dark as news was quickly sealed off.
Xin Yi was bold enough to implement this risky plan precisely because he understood this situation. The outcome was quite predictable; in Taiwan, Limin Group's drugs represented the lifeline of the entire country. If citizens learned that there had been a massive explosion within Limin Group, it would undoubtedly cause widespread panic. If such a heavily guarded organization could be infiltrated by enemies so easily, it would raise serious doubts about the authorities' capabilities among citizens. Every ruler in any country or region is concerned about this aspect, which explains why negative news is strictly suppressed everywhere. Xin Yi was confident that Taiwan authorities would not easily disclose the incident involving Limin Group's internal attack; even if it were announced later, it would certainly be framed with sufficient reasoning to avoid causing panic. During this time gap, many things could be accomplished.
Meanwhile, on the deck of the Wales, two sailors rushing from the stern were instantly shot dead. The twenty or so black-clad men armed with submachine guns pounced like tigers onto various corners of the cargo ship. After releasing one batch of warriors, Qin Dali opened another container that also held a group of similarly dressed black-clad men. Once they exited, they quickly joined their fellow brothers and rushed towards the bridge at the rear of the cargo ship with the intention of storming in and eliminating any remaining sailors. However, Qin Dali did not follow his brothers forward; instead, he stood still observing the situation on the bridge.
The Beng Hu Company brothers had just charged within several dozen meters of the bridge when suddenly figures began moving on the platform above. Dozens of sailors armed with submachine guns appeared on the platform. Seeing this situation, Qin Dali suddenly shouted sharply: "Follow my orders! Retreat!" The Beng Hu Company brothers seemed to have anticipated this; as soon as Qin Dali's voice rang out, they raised their submachine guns and unleashed a fierce barrage towards the platform while collectively retreating away from the bridge.
The armed sailors on the platform were organized by the First Mate aboard Wales. Initially following Captain Fetter's orders to keep all sailors alert, he later thought there wouldn't be any trouble since only one officer came aboard. Thus he ascended to the bridge to oversee those still gathered below deck among Taiwan soldiers. Little did he expect that what was inside those containers was not drugs but armed Taiwan soldiers who immediately wiped out all sailors on deck along with Captain Fetter. He intended to lead his men onto deck to rescue them but saw that there were no survivors left; thus he hurriedly gathered sailors on the bridge to prepare for defense.
The structure of the cargo ship had crew quarters directly beneath the bridge where most sailors were gathered at this moment; there was also an armory located within this area. As long as they could hold onto the bridge, there would be no problem unless a large-scale army attacked. There were over one hundred sixty sailors aboard Wales; only about twenty were near Captain Fetter earlier while most others concentrated around the bridge and some engine rooms. The First Mate quickly established communication via intercom with them to gather everyone at the bridge for joint defense against intruders. Leading several dozen sailors hiding near the platform awaited an opportunity to ambush approaching Taiwan soldiers; however, these Taiwan soldiers proved cunning and retreated back towards their containers before any shots could be fired.
Seeing his ambush strategy fail miserably made First Mate furious; he turned around and ordered someone to fetch a rocket launcher from the armory immediately. He planned to use it to blow up Taiwan soldiers' cover and kill them while commanding sailors to open fire on those below deck to prevent them from boarding for support. The sailors aboard Wales had undergone rigorous training and experienced combat; their organizational coordination far surpassed that of ordinary cargo ship crews. Upon receiving orders, some sailors immediately left the bridge and came out onto deck towards where it faced dockside, firing at Taiwan soldiers below deck with their weapons. The Taiwan soldiers below seemed less courageous than those aboard; upon hearing gunfire from above, they fled without resistance or even bothering with their vehicle.
This action caused great amusement among sailors onboard; finally resembling true Taiwan soldiers! Based on their years of understanding Taiwan soldiers' behavior patterns, fleeing in panic was indeed one of their typical styles.
At this moment, some sailors had already brought a rocket launcher for First Mate who set it up on a platform aiming at containers on deck ready to fire when another sailor called out: "First Mate! You can't shoot at this angle; you'll blow through our own deck! If you really want to use a rocket launcher, you can only fire horizontally from above deck; that way maybe just its explosive power won't damage our ship!"
First Mate realized this too; damaging his own ship wasn't ideal either! Moreover, since those Taiwan soldiers below had already fled and only dozens remained on deck—he could handle them easily after dealing with those on deck before setting sail back home without damaging his own vessel—so he carried his rocket launcher down towards below deck intending to fire from there.
However, when First Mate reached deck carrying his rocket launcher he froze in shock—dozens of Taiwan soldiers who had been hiding behind containers were nowhere in sight! Furious First Mate jumped up and asked loudly where those Taiwan soldiers had gone while sailors on platform replied: "First Mate! While you went downstairs just now those Taiwan soldiers also escaped downwards! Quickly fire your rocket launcher at that ladder leading downboard and blow it up to kill them!"
Hearing there might still be an opportunity for revenge made First Mate rush towards dockside with his rocket launcher where indeed he saw dozens of black-clad men rushing down through that ladder towards below deck! A sinister smile crept across First Mate's face as he aimed his rocket launcher at that ladder readying his finger over trigger—just needing a gentle squeeze would send that ladder crashing down! The distance between deck and dock was at least five or six stories high—anyone falling down would surely become nothing but pulp!
Just as the First Mate's finger was about to pull the trigger of the Rocket Launcher, a sharp gunshot rang out from the Gantry Crane nearby. The First Mate felt a jolt in his shoulder; a bullet had struck the Rocket Launcher resting on his shoulder, causing his right shoulder to tingle. Fortunately, it hit the Rocket Launcher; if it had been just a bit off, it could have meant a fatal blow to his head. He hadn't expected that there would be a sniper hiding among the Taiwan Soldiers, and he had nearly lost his life. Feeling a wave of fear, the First Mate tossed the Rocket Launcher onto the deck with a clang and quickly dropped to the ground, fearing that the next bullet from the sniper would not miss.
Seeing that there was a sniper on the Gantry Crane, the sailors also dared not show themselves and hurriedly sought cover to hide their bodies. Who knew who that sniper might target next?
Taking advantage of this moment, the men in black on the gangway had already reached the dock. After disembarking, they did not linger but followed the direction in which the group of Taiwan Soldiers had fled. The First Mate cautiously lifted his head and vaguely saw a figure on the Gantry Crane quickly disappearing into the support structure. It seemed that they had retreated as well. Slowly, he crawled up from the deck, confusedly watching the direction in which the Taiwan Soldiers had escaped. What did these Taiwan Soldiers mean? They had made such a big fuss to board the ship; were they trying to kill Captain Fetter? Was this revenge for some offense Captain Fetter had caused them? But that didn't make sense; they hadn't delivered the drugs they were supposed to bring, which represented Limin Group and also involved the entire Taiwan Authorities. What could their actions possibly mean?
The First Mate was puzzled when suddenly he heard a series of rapid gunshots coming from afar. Judging by the direction of the gunfire, it was where the Taiwan Soldiers had just fled. The First Mate was momentarily baffled; what was going on? He called out to a sailor on the platform, "Binoculars! Quickly bring me binoculars!" A sailor hurriedly ran down with binoculars in hand. The First Mate raised them to his eyes and what he saw only deepened his confusion: through the binoculars, he could see that the black-clad men who had just escaped from the ship were now pursuing and shooting at the fleeing group of Taiwan Soldiers, and both sides were exchanging fire.
