As the funeral procession made its way to Longshan Cemetery, the Longchuan City Traffic Police Brigade received complaints from the public about the procession severely obstructing traffic. Generally, the Traffic Police Brigade turned a blind eye to such matters, as funerals are significant events and it is customary in Heavenly Pride Nation to avoid interference when possible. However, since there were complaints, they had to send someone to check on the situation.
Today, Shu Rui was also present. She sat in Xin Yi's car, with Qin Dali driving and Shu Rui in the passenger seat. Xin Yi had his arm around Shen Shanshan in the back seat. Shu Rui seemed unfazed by the situation; in fact, when she first met Shen Shanshan, she affectionately tucked a strand of hair away from her forehead and sighed, saying, "Oh, poor girl." Strangely, Shen Shanshan did not seem to reject her touch and did not pull away.
Shu Rui turned to Xin Yi and said, "Aren't you going to take her for treatment? With her condition, what good does it do for you to be by her side every day? Without normal thinking, she won't feel happy."
"Treatment is definitely needed. However, I've been too busy these past few days, and Shanshan has always needed me with her. Once I finish my work in a couple of days, I'll contact the hospital for treatment," Xin Yi replied.
"Yes, make it a priority. Patients shouldn't be delayed for too long; the longer it takes, the worse it is for treatment. I know a doctor who specializes in this kind of illness and is quite skilled. I contacted her a couple of days ago and briefly explained Shanshan's situation. She said we could send Shanshan to her place for a try. You won't blame me for taking the initiative like this, will you?" Shu Rui said calmly.
Hearing Shu Rui's words left Xin Yi stunned. It seemed that everything he had done had not escaped Shu Rui's notice. Since she was aware of Shen Shanshan's condition, she must also know about everything that had happened before. Yet she did not show any signs of anger and even helped him contact a doctor. What more could he say? No matter how wonderful a woman she was, he felt destined to be apart from her in this life. He had already decided to care for Shen Shanshan for the rest of her life and could no longer hurt other innocent women, including Shu Rui. Nevertheless, Xin Yi was touched by Shu Rui's understanding and sincerely said to her, "Xiaorui, thank you!"
"You don't need to thank me; I'm just helping Shen Shanshan or perhaps helping Lijie. They both deserve the right to make clear choices without psychological burdens. As for you, you currently have no right to choose; you can only be chosen because your affections have already hurt more than one woman. You owe each of them something. So if they choose not to be with you, you have no right to complain. I won't say more; this is all I can do. Take care of yourself," Shu Rui concluded before turning away and remaining silent for the rest of the journey.
The procession moved slowly. At an intersection blocked by two Jinbei vans, a Female Traffic Officer was questioning the driver inside one of the vans: "Comrade, why did you park your vehicle in the middle of the road? Don't you know that I can penalize you at any time for deliberately obstructing traffic?"
"Report! Our van broke down and can't move! I want to leave quickly too, but what can we do if it won't start? Why don't you give it a try?" The young driver replied cheekily in a half-hearted Southern dialect, confident that this young female officer was just a rookie fresh out of police academy.
"Alright then, I'll give it a try!" The Female Traffic Officer said as she opened the door.
The young driver jumped out of the driver's seat without saying anything and stepped aside. The Female Traffic Officer took off her helmet and sat in the driver's seat but found that there was no key in the ignition when she tried to start the engine. She extended her left hand out of the window and said, "Comrade, please give me the car keys!"
"Huh? The car keys? Oh right! How could I forget that? The driver took them with him just now; he said he went to find someone to fix it. I'm really sorry about this; you've worked hard for nothing," the young driver chuckled slyly with a mocking expression on his face.
"Are you not the driver?" the Female Traffic Officer asked, clenching her fists and biting her teeth, suppressing the raging anger inside her as she pushed open the car door and stepped out.
"That's right, I'm not the driver. I'm just here to watch the car while the driver went to get it repaired," the Young Driver replied shamelessly.
"If I'm not mistaken, he is in the same situation as you, right?" the Female Traffic Officer pointed to the driver in another Jinbei Van.
"Oh, you're really clever! You guessed that too! Yes, we just happened to encounter such a strange situation today. Isn't it quite a coincidence?" the Young Driver answered in a strange tone, throwing a smug look at the driver in the other vehicle.
"I think this situation is indeed quite coincidental!" the Female Traffic Officer replied.
"Can I go back to the car then? Just to buy some dreams," the Young Driver surprisingly whistled and pretended to ask respectfully while shaking his legs.
The Female Traffic Officer nodded, indicating that the Young Driver could return to his car. But just as he turned around and opened the door to get in, the Female Traffic Officer suddenly kicked him in the backside. The Young Driver was caught off guard and tumbled into the car, leaving only his legs struggling outside. However, since he was suspended in mid-air without any leverage, he struggled for a long time but couldn't climb back up. The Female Traffic Officer calmly walked over, pulled a set of car keys from his back pocket, and said with a smile, "Did you not say you didn't have the car keys? Let's see if this one works."
At this moment, the Young Driver finally turned around. Naturally, feeling humiliated made him furious. Seeing that his car keys had been taken away, he decided to act even more shamelessly: "So what if I did? I intentionally blocked the car here; what can you do about it?! Worst case scenario is points deducted, fines imposed, or my license suspended—do whatever you want! I’m not leaving today; what can you do about it? Oh right, you can call a tow truck. But hey, I bet there's no way for that tow truck to get in here either," he chuckled. Although this guy was shameless, what he said was actually true. A large funeral procession was passing on the main road, and this intersection was completely jammed with cars blocked by two Jinbei Vans. There really was no place for a tow truck to enter unless they waited for the procession to pass. The Young Driver understood this; as long as he waited for the procession to clear, his task would be complete. He thought they could do whatever they wanted afterward because he had the powerful backing of the Three Tiger Group.
"Get out of the car!" The Female Traffic Officer looked around and said sternly. More and more cars were being blocked behind them, and drivers were starting to get anxious as they watched how she would handle these two obstructing vehicles. Since she was already there, if she couldn't resolve it well, wouldn't that be embarrassing for her as a police officer? So she began to feel anxious herself.
"I'm not getting out! No way!" the Young Driver retorted defiantly.
"Are you getting out or not?!"
"I'm not getting out!"
"Are you really not getting out?"
"Absolutely not!"...
As the two argued, the Female Traffic Officer suddenly reached out and grabbed one of the driver's hands, trying to forcibly pull him out of the car. With one hand caught, the driver clung tightly to the steering wheel with his other hand, refusing to let her pull him out. When one hand wasn't enough for the Female Traffic Officer, she used both hands, and when standing on the ground didn't work, she lifted one leg and pressed it against the side of the car, pulling desperately from outside. The driver inside held onto the steering wheel with one hand and pushed down with both legs, his entire body being pulled in multiple directions, making it look like a tug-of-war between a spirited Female Traffic Officer and a driver.
Although the driver was male, he was being pulled so hard by the Female Traffic Officer that his whole body ached. He could only use one hand while she was using both hands and feet. "What a strong and aggressive woman!" he cursed inwardly, beads of sweat starting to form on his forehead. His painful expression finally caught the attention of his companion, who rushed to help. Seeing that he might not be able to hold on much longer, if he was really pulled out by the Female Traffic Officer and caused a disruption in the funeral procession, they would have no face to return to their brothers in the Three Tiger Group.
So another driver quickly jumped out of his car and ran over to help. However, when he got behind the Female Traffic Officer, he was at a loss for how to assist. Should he hit her with a brick from behind? That wouldn't work; their Third-in-Command often taught them to win people over with virtue instead of resorting to violence. Besides, this Female Traffic Officer was an official law enforcement officer. What should he do? Suddenly, he came up with a brilliant yet adorable idea: he would join in on the tug-of-war! After hesitating for a moment, he hurriedly ran around to the other side of the car, opened the passenger door, climbed in, and hugged the Young Driver's waist, pulling hard in the opposite direction to relieve some of his pressure. Thus began an unprecedented tug-of-war between those inside and outside the car.
With the second driver joining in, the situation quickly turned in favor of the two men. There was no way one Female Traffic Officer could pull against two men. Just as it seemed she would be pulled into the car as well, she suddenly let go. The two inside lost their opposing force and both fell sideways onto their seats; one even bumped into the center console and saw stars. Without pausing for a moment after letting go, the Female Traffic Officer dashed around to the front of the car and jumped into the driver's seat. To her surprise, the car key was still neatly inserted in the ignition. Without saying a word, she started the engine, shifted gears, turned around, and maneuvered the vehicle to clear a path for those stuck behind.
The drivers and passengers stuck in traffic witnessed this dramatic scene unfold and couldn't help but applaud the determined and clever Female Traffic Officer. The two drivers in their luxury vehicle were left dumbfounded; if all traffic police were like this Female Traffic Officer, then those who broke traffic laws would be in serious trouble—just based on her indomitable fighting spirit alone!
Seeing that a path had been opened up, vehicles stuck behind began moving forward toward the main road where the Funeral Procession was headed. Just as four military-green transport vehicles passed by in that procession, once cars started flooding into that main road, it would inevitably lead to even greater congestion and chaos.
