Tomorrow is the weekend, so—
At the suggestion of two playboys, the four of us insomnia sufferers went to the bar again.
To be honest, this is my second time going.
The first time was when Jojo dragged me there for her birthday, and she looked helpless as I sat in the corner reviewing manuscripts.
Yes, I’m an editor, the kind who has to wear earplugs while revising in a bar.
Since then, she hasn’t invited me to any bar outings.
In the late-night bar, the revelry was just beginning.
I nestled in a corner, slowly sipping my beer, my gaze searching for Jojo and Zhou Ran on the dance floor.
Jojo is famously known as a Butterfly among my friends, and Zhou Ran is a Rogue; with their contrasting personalities, I genuinely feared they might run off together to celebrate love.
After a few drinks, my vision wasn’t quite sharp anymore.
I stared at the dance floor for a while but couldn’t find either of them; instead, my eyes started to hurt.
I told Wang Xingci I was stepping out and got up to go to the restroom.
After emptying my stomach of beer, I washed my hands and stepped outside, only to be suddenly blocked by someone.
It was Zhou Ran, who had been missing until now.
The corridor was empty as he leaned against the bathroom door, his arms casually crossed over his chest, smirking at me.
I paused for a moment, preparing to walk past him and leave.
Just as I was about to pass by, he suddenly grabbed my wrist.
I looked up at him, furrowing my brows.
"Are you not going to remind me of anything if I introduce you to my friend?"
This was the first thing he said.
His voice was deep and pleasant.
"She's not someone easy to deal with either. I wish you both a fair match in love," I replied dismissively.
I thought Zhou Ran would step aside, but instead, he took a step forward, blocking my way completely.
Zhou Ran was much taller than me, and now he leaned slightly forward to look at me.
"What if I said the person I'm interested in is you?"
He locked eyes with me, speaking each word deliberately.
With that statement, the atmosphere became tinged with ambiguity.
I stared into his smiling Peach Blossom Eyes for a few seconds before raising my hand—
He lightly twisted his ear and said,
"Look at you, Zhou Ran, now even I dare to flirt with you?"
After twisting it, he released his hand. I looked at him and saw his eyebrows raised in surprise.
"Do you still remember me, sister?"
I took a small step back to create some distance and looked up.
"Yes."
When we first met, I felt he looked familiar, but once I heard his name, everything came back to me.
He was the handsome little brother who lived next door when we were in elementary school, always lifting my skirt and tugging at my braid.
He never got involved in anything with others.
In the brief silence, Zhou Ran kept looking down at me.
The smile in his Peach Blossom Eyes was bright, and when I glanced at him, I quickly averted my gaze.
My intuition told me that this grown-up little brother was too good at flirting; it was beyond someone like me, who was inexperienced in relationships.
Recognizing him, I intended to walk past him and leave, but once again, he blocked my way.
With his hands in his pockets, the smile in his eyes only grew stronger.
"Sister, we just recognized each other. Are you in such a hurry to leave?"
Divine Seer Recognizing, just hearing his words, I almost thought I had arrived at a large family reunion.
"Otherwise?"
I shot him a glance, "Do you need me to hold you and cry tears of joy to show my excitement?"
His face was quite handsome, and his eyes were charming, but...
This was exactly Jojo's type. What I preferred was the brooding kind of handsome like Wang Xingci.
Zhou Ran suddenly laughed.
He leaned in a bit closer, "That's not impossible."
Saying this, he even reached out his hand towards me.
Before he could really pull me into a close embrace, I widened my eyes and looked behind him, "Is that Wang Xingci?"
Zhou Ran raised an eyebrow slightly, his expression both mischievous and handsome, "Sister, that trick is too lame."
"...Zhou Ran?"
In the next moment, Wang Xingci's voice sounded from behind him.
Zhou Ran clearly froze for a moment. I shrugged, "Sisters never lie."
As I spoke, Wang Xingci had already walked over quickly.
His gaze swept over the two of us rapidly, and he unconsciously frowned, "You two...?"
"Oh." I responded dismissively, "I ran into you at the bathroom door, and your brother insisted on learning the essence of Dou Di Zhu from me."
"Tsk."
Wang Xingci raised his eyebrows high, meaningfully patting Zhou Ran on the shoulder, "What got into him?"
Zhou Ran smiled, "He drank too much."
As we spoke, Jojo came over, mumbling that she couldn't find us anywhere, and then she collapsed onto Zhou Ran.
Zhou Ran was quite accommodating, supporting her and gently placing his hand on her lower back. "Drunk? Let me take you home."
His voice was very soft.
Despite having the appearance of a playboy, he still remembered to act like a gentleman at this moment.
Jojo took the opportunity and immediately rubbed her temples, agreeing to his offer.
Before leaving, this guy even turned around and winked at me, quietly making a "gotcha" gesture.
Watching the two leave, I couldn't help but click my tongue in disbelief.
