My vision was blurry, and my head felt a bit heavy. In a daze, it seemed I was being dragged by someone.
Hadn't I already died?
I struggled to open my eyes, and the man supporting me momentarily left me in a daze.
"He Dongyang!"
I almost spat out his name through gritted teeth.
He was my boyfriend of seven years.
I shook my body and pushed He Dongyang away, slapping him loudly.
He Dongyang stood frozen in place, anger igniting in his eyes as he looked at me, but he didn't dare retaliate with everyone around watching.
"Momo, what's wrong? Why did you hit Dongyang?"
The speaker was Xu Tingting, my good friend who had played with me since childhood.
Looking at her worried expression, it was hard to believe that she was the one who suggested selling me for food during the apocalypse.
Xu Tingting seemed a bit stunned, but she quickly grabbed my hand. "Momo, let's talk about this at home. Why are you causing a scene here?"
As her words sank in, I finally realized something was off.
This is a night market stall, crowded with people. My previous actions were so sudden that they attracted a lot of attention.
Looking at the empty bottles on the table in front of me and the crowd standing before me, I felt an extreme sense of unreality.
My head was a bit heavy, and as I touched the back of my head, I could taste the alcohol in my mouth. Then it all came back to me.
It was the day before the apocalypse. I had treated Xu Dongyang and Xu Tingting to a late-night snack because I had received a bonus, and we had drunk together.
“Momo, stop acting drunk; let’s go home.”
Fortunately, Xu Dongyang and Xu Tingting only thought I was tipsy and causing a scene.
They grabbed me, trying to take me home. I lowered my head, forcing down the anger deep within me.
Now was not the best time, but I could still disgust them.
I squinted my eyes, pushed them away again while leaning against a nearby table, and began to curse: “You two Dog Couple, don’t think I don’t know how many things you’ve done behind my back that have wronged me.”
As soon as those words left my mouth, my crazy outburst instantly drew a crowd eager to watch the drama unfold.
I noticed the malicious glances from those around us directed at her and Xu Dongyang.
Xu Tingting's brows twitched in frustration as she smiled and grabbed a tissue, trying to cover my mouth. “Momo, stop overthinking. I told you to watch fewer melodramas.”
I tilted my head to dodge her. “What are you trying to do? Do you want to silence me now? Can’t I even speak? We grew up together; you’re after my man. How can you justify this?”
“What are you talking about?”
Xu Dongyang's expression darkened. Without saying a word, he and Xu Tingting supported me on either side and left the place.
Under the watchful eyes of the onlookers, they carried me back home together.
On the way back, I took the opportunity to retaliate and spat on both of their clothes.
"Ugh, that's disgusting."
As soon as we entered the door, Xu Tingting let go of me, and I pretended to be dazed and fell in front of the sofa.
This was the apartment that Xu Dongyang and I rented together, but unbeknownst to me, this pair of lovers had been spending time together for who knows how long.
Seeing me sprawled on the sofa cushions, Xu Dongyang frowned. "Do you think she knows something?"
Xu Tingting had already confidently walked into the bathroom, taking off her top and standing in front of Xu Dongyang in her underwear.
She glanced at me dismissively before shifting her gaze away. "What could she possibly know? She's just drunk and acting foolishly. If we’ve been together for six years, would she only be finding out now?"
As she spoke, Xu Tingting flirtatiously placed her hand on Xu Dongyang's shoulder.
Seeing this, Xu Dongyang stopped looking at me and turned to walk into the bathroom, closing the door behind him.
