'Gu' is commonly known as Gu Poison, which attaches itself to women and harms others. Generally, it involves placing various highly toxic creatures such as snakes, scorpions, and lizards into the same container, allowing them to gnaw at and kill each other until only one survives, which becomes the Gu. There are many types of Gu, including Snake Gu, Dog Gu, Cat Ghost Gu, Scorpion Gu, Toad Gu, Insect Gu, and Flying Gu. Although Gu appears to be a tangible entity, it has been regarded since ancient times as a mysterious being that can fly, change form, and glow, akin to ghosts that come and go without a trace. The creator of the Gu can use spells to remotely control the poisonous creature to inflict various diseases on the target or even kill them.
Among the Flying Gu is Dieqia Gu, where the Gu is a centipede that can fly like a butterfly. It travels through the organs and blood of the person afflicted by the curse, feeding on flesh and blood. In the case of Qiong Yao, this Dieqia Gu had been residing within her body for ten years. Yun Zhongzi spent three years in Voodoo Town trying to heal Qiong Yao; however, the centipede had mutated into a creature resembling a qilin and gained sentience. It could even transform into a small child wearing red pants to confuse Qiong Yao, leading her to mistakenly believe it was Seven Nights and willingly feed it with her flesh and blood. As a result, Qiong Yao was on the brink of death. Yun Zhongzi used silver needles to seal the Gu within Qiong Yao's body and set off alone for the legendary Tree of Life in the Western Abyss to restore Qiong Yao's vitality. He planned to force out the weakened Gu that had not fed for a long time and then incinerate it with electric stone.
"This cursed place in the Western Abyss nearly cost me my life," Yun Zhongzi sighed and smiled again at Little Hanxin. "The Tree of Life truly is elusive."
"Whoosh! Whoosh!!! Whoosh whoosh whoosh!!!" Little Hanxin squirmed and jumped but still couldn't escape Yun Zhongzi's grasp. He could only look towards Hibiscus for help. Hibiscus gave Little Hanxin a reassuring glance, saying, "Senior Yun Zhongzi means no harm."
"I was just anxious; I will remember your life-saving grace," Yun Zhongzi released Little Hanxin. "Whoosh!" Little Hanxin leaped onto Hibiscus's shoulder while making faces at Yun Zhongzi.
"Senior Yun Zhongzi is too polite; I am Hibiscus and have met you once before," Hibiscus shook his head and bore no ill will from earlier.
"Hibiscus? A young member of the Mu Family? What brings you to the Western Abyss?" Yun Zhongzi's face flushed; he was saved by a junior.
"To be honest with you, I came for Fo-Ti."
"What do you need that for?" Yun Zhongzi waved his hand dismissively. "Young man from the Mu Family, you have matured quite a bit over these past few years."
"Thank you for your kind words; I am still inexperienced and need guidance."
"No need for guidance; I would like to ask you to accompany me on a trip with this little one. Would that be acceptable?"
"Whoosh!"
"I am willing to follow you," Hibiscus said while patting Little Hanxin, who was baring its teeth. He had noticed that Little Hanxin had become quite attached to the small wooden stick hanging from his chest; perhaps not touching that little tree initially won him Little Hanxin's favor.
Although their journey was delayed due to Jinse's frail condition, they finally arrived at Mu Family Villa five days later and rested for several days to recover from their exhausting travels.
"Greetings, Your Majesty." Mu Yu and Ji Yuyan were already waiting at the entrance of another courtyard. "Your Majesty, the peaches in Peach Blossom Garden bloomed well this year and are particularly sweet," Mu Yu said warmly while nodding at Song Yun behind Xuan Dynasty. Song Yun nodded in response. "Mu brother, still as elegant as ever."
Ji Yuyan glanced back briefly. "Your Majesty, why haven't we seen our Hibiscus?"
“Jin Zhi is not accompanying me; isn't he in the other courtyard?” Xuan Dynasty also felt puzzled.
“No.” Mu Yu shook his head with a smile. “Never mind that for now; Your Majesty, you should rest well after your long journey.”
He is not in the other courtyard? Then where is he? Fengyin quietly furrowed her brows. When she looked up, she saw Hehe happily running towards her. Hehe rubbed his head against Fengyin. “Hehe.” Fengyin squatted down and hugged Hehe. “Where is Grandpa? Is he well?”
“Yin'er, come walk with me.” Ji Yuyan had already stood beside Fengyin without her noticing.
“Yes, Aunt.” Ji Yuyan nodded at Fengyin. This child, neither resentful nor joyful.
The fragrance of peach blossoms filled the orchard as Ji Yuyan and Fengyin walked along the path.
“Yin'er, Jin'er has feelings for you. Although he doesn't say it, as his mother, I know. But you, my dear…” Ji Yuyan sighed. “My Jin'er is not young anymore; it's time for him to marry.”
“Aunt, I…”
“I actually liked you quite a bit, but you left without saying goodbye back then.”
“Aunt, Fengyin had her reasons.”
“What reasons do you have? Tell me about them.”
“Please don’t blame me, Aunt; Fengyin truly has her difficulties.” Fengyin lowered her head, unable to meet Ji Yuyan's gaze.
“If I were to blame you? How could I not? Our Mu Family only has Jin'er as our sole heir.”
“That’s exactly why Fengyin doesn’t dare to hope.”
“Hope for what? Jin'er is interested in you; as parents, we won’t stop it. Are you really that dense?”
“Aunt, please stop talking about this.” Fengyin knelt on the ground; she was already very upset inside.
“Even though you are Yun Zhongzi's disciple, what does that matter to our Mu Family…” “Madam.” Mu Yu and Xuan Dynasty emerged from the orchard and interrupted Ji Yuyan. “Fengyin, your grandfather is looking for you; hurry along now.”
"Yes, Uncle." Fengyin quietly wiped away the tears at the corners of her eyes and bowed before leaving.
"You..." Mu Yu glanced at Ji Yuyan, then whispered to Xuan Dynasty before heading elsewhere.
"Mother Stone, please bless my son Hibiscus with a safe return, and may he quickly marry and have children."
"Hibiscus, I owe you so much." Yun Zhongzi was almost in tears. After three years and over a decade of repentance, he finally got his wish. "Let's head back; it's time to visit Misty Mountain. I wonder how my Disciple is doing? Seven Nights... who knows... sigh."
"There are rumors that the Emperor is getting married; I need to hurry back to the capital."
"Speaking of the Emperor's wedding, Seven Nights and I should have already married and had children; it's all my fault for delaying him," Qiong Yao couldn't help but feel sentimental.
"The young man isn't so young anymore." Yun Zhongzi looked at Hibiscus. "You haven't taken off that Mask for days; has your face been injured? Let me take a look."
"It's no longer an issue, Senior."
"No way! It's such a pity for such a handsome young man to ruin his looks."
"Alright, Senior, please don't be shocked." Hibiscus removed the Mask, revealing a face marred by scars, resembling twisted old vines on dead wood, quite terrifying. "These were just minor scratches; I don't know why they turned out this way."
"This is celestial magic." Yun Zhongzi couldn't help but feel excited. He had spent half his life seeking immortality and now encountered a miracle; it turned out such things truly existed in this world. "Evening Primrose Poison?!" Yun Zhongzi's pupils constricted. "Evening Primrose is white in color, blooming at dusk and wilting by dawn, symbolizing a fragile woman whose beauty fades suddenly. It is also known as the vengeful flower. Evening Primrose itself is not poisonous. Murong Xiyan is dead and does not envy immortality. Therefore, if the pollen of Murong Xiyan encounters the Tree of Life, it will surely become highly toxic, with unknown effects."
