“Junior Hibiscus, please follow me.” Hibiscus led Jade Flute and Old Monk out of the room, just as they encountered Xuan Li and Jinse approaching together. 0

“Sovereign.” Old Monk clasped his hands together and bowed in greeting. 0

Xuan Li nodded slightly, “Master, look at him, he is completely lost.” He pointed with his folding fan at Mel, who was standing beside Spiritual Incense, gazing blankly into the room. 0

Old Monk stepped toward Mel, focused his gaze, and then sighed, turning to Xuan Li and the others, “I have arrived a moment too late.” 0

Xuan Li and Hibiscus frowned. Did this mean that Mel and Fengyin were beyond saving?! 0

The monk with the title Compassion had left the temple to venture into the mortal world as the Ghost Festival approached, a time that was always somewhat unsettling. 0

He sought out those entangled in karma; if he could find a few restless souls to liberate and guide them to peace, it would be a significant achievement for him, earning him good karma. In Buddhism, compassion is paramount, cultivating pure senses and completing good deeds can lead to enlightenment, allowing one to attain Buddhahood and escape the cycle of suffering. 0

Believers seek blessings for the next life, while immortal connections are only concerned with rewards in this life. 0

That evening, he felt compelled by the stars and came over, only to find he was still a moment too late—an opportunity for transformation slipped away, leaving him disheartened. 0

“Sovereign, do not worry. The malevolent spirits have already departed; the ominous winds in the courtyard will dissipate before sunset without my intervention,” Compassion said. 0

“Master, are you saying that Mel is fine?” Xuan Li asked in confusion. 0

“Does he seem fine to you? Old monk, are you sure about this?” Spiritual Incense complained. 0

“Oh, Hehe’s life is indeed safe; it’s just that his mind is disturbed by obsessions, temporarily lost in confusion. To resolve these obsessions, one must untangle the various karmic ties involved. Otherwise, these obsessions will become part of him; they won’t harm his life or body but will remain as attachments in his heart,” Compassion explained. 0

Although the restless soul departed with the light, Fengyin’s gentle breeze allowed him to forget past events. However, his deep-seated attachment to his wife lingered on. As he drifted between realms, it happened that Mel bore the essence of his master. This obsession took advantage of Mel’s weakened state to dominate his will, which is why Mel appeared so dazed, consumed only by feelings for He Huan. Given time, he would regain clarity; however, since his emotional roots were deeply planted, this attachment would eventually become his own thoughts. 0

“Are you saying that unless this deadlock is broken, even if Mel returns, he will inevitably fall hopelessly in love with that woman inside who is smashing things?” Spiritual Incense crossed her arms angrily. If Mel liked such a woman, it would be a disgrace to her identity as Lingxiang Princess, especially since Mel was her attendant. 0

"Amitabha, for a monk, form is emptiness, there is only faith and no love." Compassion said softly with hands clasped together. 0

"Master, do you have any good advice?" Hearing that there was no danger to life, Hibiscus also breathed a sigh of relief. 0

"This old monk is at a loss. The vengeful spirits have dispersed, their souls are at peace, and they should not be disturbed. All I can do is help this benefactor regain clarity of mind and no longer be in such confusion," Compassion shrugged his shoulders, feeling quite helpless. He could not fathom what kind of master could disperse the vengeful spirits of the Night of the Dead, leaving only a faint attachment. 0

Generally, such vengeful spirits can only be suppressed with magical tools or transcended through rituals like the forty-nine days Nine Heavens, opening Abaddon's Gate of Rebirth to send them into the cycle of reincarnation. The rights and wrongs of the world are interconnected; nothing can simply dissipate into the universe. What is called disappearance is merely a change in the mode of existence. Such an overbearing technique was unheard of, completely disregarding cause and effect. 0

"Benefactor, Life Is But a Dream, in an instant," Compassion held the prayer beads and chanted beside Mel. "The Buddha is compassionate; life in this world is like being in a thorn bush. If the heart does not move, one does not act recklessly. If one does not act, one does not get hurt; if the heart moves, one acts recklessly, hurting oneself and causing pain to the bones, thus experiencing all kinds of suffering in the world. Everything is illusory; all dharmas arise from conditions. I say it is due to conditions; when conditions cease, they perish. Thus I say that dharmas are empty and illusory; anger and ignorance are truly great wisdom that can break through illusions." 0

The sound of the Buddha's teachings lingered, and Mel's eyes regained clarity. "Thank you for your enlightenment, Master. I have always been drifting without knowing where my home is. This awakening has greatly benefited me." 0

Compassion smiled gently and performed a gesture of respect with both hands towards Xuan Dynasty, saying, "If fate allows, we shall meet again," before laughing heartily as he left. 0

"Mei Er! How do you feel now?" Spiritual Incense asked with a wrinkled nose, looking at Mel with a complex expression that rarely appeared on her face. 0

"Princess, I feel refreshed," Mel replied with a gentle smile; his smile revealed charming dimples. 0

"That's wonderful, but Fengyin has yet to awaken." After saying this, Hibiscus turned sadly and walked towards Fengyin's room. 0

"I'll go see Yin Yin too," Jinse whispered as she had a good rapport with Fengyin. 0

After Jinse turned to leave, Xuan Dynasty followed her. 0

Only Spiritual Incense and Mel remained looking at each other. 0

"Mel, don't you have anything to say to me?" Spiritual Incense sighed lightly, feeling quite bored. 0

"Does the princess have any matters?" Mel smiled and asked, "Could you give me the key you hold?" 0

Spiritual Incense handed the key to Mel, who reached out to take it and gently opened the brass lock hanging on the door. 0

With a loud clang, a teal teapot fell onto Mel, rolling onto the ground and producing a crisp sound. 0

"Ah!!!" He Huan screamed, "I'm going crazy! You actually locked me up!!" He Huan stomped her feet, looking angrily at Mel who had just entered. 0

"Miss, watch your step." He Huan was standing next to shards of porcelain, and Mel furrowed her brow to remind her. 0

"Handsome!!" He Huan smiled, "Since you're handsome, I won't hold it against you." 0

"Miss, you are quite carefree," Mel said gently with warm eyes. 0

Standing behind them, Spiritual Incense walked away in tears. 0

"Really?" He Huan squinted her eyes, clearly pleased. 0

"Brother. Hurry up and get rid of that ugly woman! She's always pestering Mei Er!" Spiritual Incense shook the sleeves of Xuan Dynasty, seeing Mel's fawning demeanor made her want to slap him dead right there! Then throw him by the ink sea to feed the river fish. It was said that the river fish there had mouths as big as houses and bodies as massive as small mountains; she wondered if Mel would be enough to fill their gaps. Spiritual Incense gritted her teeth and sighed, "Brother, what kind of monster is that woman?" 0

Xuan Dynasty irritably rubbed his forehead; don't ask him such profound questions, he didn't understand women at all. "Aren't you annoyed that Mel is bothering you? Now it's peaceful," Xuan Dynasty still tried to comfort her. 0

"But brother!! Forget it, I'm going to eat something." Spiritual Incense pouted and walked out. Just then, she saw Jinse staring blankly in the courtyard. "Sister Jinse, what's wrong?" 0
