Jinse blushed and said, "I'm not ready yet. Do you have any medicine that can make me pregnant with Xuan Li's child? I don't dare to see him."
"There is no such medicine. The only thing is that he would be willing to give you a child if he takes it, but in that case, the child would be toxic."
"How could it be toxic?"
"Medicine has its dangers. I don't think Xuan Li would like to be drugged," Fengyin murmured.
"Then let's go to the Jianghu first, and we can talk about the child later." Jinse felt a bit sad but also relieved; deep down, she was still scared.
"There's one more thing."
"What is it?"
"Alcohol."
The two exchanged a smile.
"Jin Zhi, I—"
Hibiscus raised an eyebrow. Was that how he was addressed? He looked as if he wanted to say something but held back, which seemed suspicious. "What is it?"
"You must be tired. Let me massage your shoulders," Fengyin said as she rubbed her hands together, then placed her small hand on Hibiscus's shoulder and gently began to knead. "Is it comfortable?"
Hibiscus nodded, feeling quite pleased. "A little to the left, yes, up a bit, that's the spot. Not bad, not bad."
Fengyin smiled, "Jin Zhi, can you do me a favor?" She continued to knead and massage, ready to tap your head if you didn't agree.
"Go ahead," she finally said, eager to please.
"Well, you have to promise first," Fengyin insisted, lightly tapping your back with her small fist.
Hibiscus took her little hand and held it in his palm. "You know I’ve never refused you. After all this time, I’m comfortable now, and you must be tired too."
"Can you help me get the Emperor drunk?" Fengyin whispered.
Hibiscus frowned. "Why are you bringing up Xuan Li?"
Fengyin clasped her hands together. "I beg you, I know you'll agree."
Hibiscus nodded. "Alright, I agree."
"Xuan Brother, have you ever been drunk?" Hibiscus asked, holding a wine cup and gazing at the bright moon above. The stars were sparse tonight; it was indeed a good night for drinking.
Xuan Li paused, looking at the wine in his cup. "What does being drunk feel like?" He had grown up in the depths of the palace where his father disapproved of drinking; now that he was Emperor, he couldn't even have a second bite of his favorite dishes. Drunk? He truly had no experience.
In the palace, to ensure the Emperor's safety, every meal was prepared abundantly, but he could only taste each dish. The Chief Steward stood by; if the Emperor found something to his liking and wanted more, the Chief Steward would remind him, "Sovereign, why not try something else?" This practice was meant to prevent anyone from poisoning the Emperor's food. Even if he did consume poisoned dishes, it would only be a small taste and not enough to cause severe harm. Of course, any dishes that had been tasted by the Emperor could be passed on to the concubines or others to avoid waste.
“Drunk?” Xuan Li chuckled, “Jin Zhi, we won’t stop until we’re intoxicated.” In the Mu Family, he didn’t have to worry about those brothers who wanted to harm him, nor about whether there were assassins lurking nearby. Today, he truly wanted to get drunk.
“Your Majesty, drink lightly and slowly. Jinse would like to offer a song to enhance the drinking mood.” Jinse was playing a fragrant tune on the zither, her silky black hair brushing against the strings.
“Jinse is right; one must drink slowly to become truly intoxicated.” Hibiscus also agreed, the aroma of wine filling the air. He wasn’t a heavy drinker, but he was already slightly tipsy.
Thus, one song after another, one cup after another.
“Your Majesty, that’s enough. If you keep drinking like this, it won’t be drunkenness; it will be sleep.” Jinse gently pressed her hands on the zither strings, stopping the music.
Fengyin helped the dazed Hibiscus up and winked at Jinse before guiding Hibiscus into the room.
“I’m also a bit drunk now,” Hibiscus said with a tipsy smile. “Yin'er, I won’t bully you anymore; let’s be sincere.”
“Alright,” Fengyin replied. After helping Hibiscus settle down to sleep, she left the room and headed to her own quarters. While Hibiscus was drinking earlier, she had been preparing a hangover remedy. It was difficult to wake up from a hangover, so she hurried back to get it for him to take, ensuring he wouldn’t feel so bad in the morning.
“Jin Zhi, we won’t return until we’re drunk,” Xuan Li raised his wine cup, his starry eyes slightly closed, not noticing that Hibiscus had already left. When he felt his wine cup being taken away, he opened his eyes in confusion. “Give me back my wine.”
“Your Majesty, we won’t return until we’re drunk; if you’re drunk now, it’s time to go back to your room.” The wine jug was gently placed on the table as Jinse draped Xuan Li’s arm over her shoulder. “Come on, let’s get up and head back.”
“Fine, I do feel a bit tipsy; I actually find you quite attractive,” Xuan Li stood up. “So light and airy.”
