Fengyin placed a small bottle on the wooden railing beside her. "This is for pain relief. When you have an episode, take one pill, and it will make you feel better. I don't have paper and pen right now, so I can't give you a prescription. Just go to Fifth Madam's Listening Rain Pavilion to find me, and I'll prescribe a few herbs for you. Take them for a few days, and you'll be fine. Just be careful not to overexert yourself."
Seeing that Jin Yi Man remained unmoved, she uncorked the bottle herself, poured out a pill, and forced it into his tightly closed mouth. With a tap on a certain acupoint, the pill was swallowed. Noticing the cold light in Jin Yi Man's eyes, she wondered why he was looking at her like that; she was a doctor and meant no harm. Feeling a bit scared, she sealed the bottle again and placed it back on the wooden railing before turning to leave, her clothes fluttering.
Jin Yi Man tried to spit out the swallowed pill. There were too many people who wanted to harm him, so he had to be cautious. The masked woman's technique was unusual; she must be someone from the martial world. However, it was all in vain. As he lowered his eyes in thought, he realized that the discomfort in his abdomen had completely vanished, and he felt relaxed all over—there was no trace of discomfort left. His gaze shifted slightly as he tucked the nearby Jade Porcelain Bottle into his embrace.
"Brother, Sister Jinse has arrived. I've been looking for you for a long time; how did you end up here?" Cotton Rice's soft voice called out.
"Just admiring the scenery of the Mu Family," Jin Yi Man replied casually.
Not far away, a group of people was approaching.
"Greetings to Your Majesty." The crowd knelt down to pay their respects.
"Rise; I'm in disguise and do not require formalities."
"Yes."
The group consisted of both men and women, comprising the offspring of the Three Friends of Winter. Jin Yi Man, being the elder brother of Lingxiang Princess, was none other than the current emperor—Xuan Li.
They were all gathered to attend tonight's Lantern Festival, which included Mel, Second Young Master Mei, who accompanied the emperor in his studies; Jinse, the only unmarried young lady of the Song Family, renowned as the most beautiful woman in Heavenly Emperor's realm; and Zhu Qing, this year's top scholar and also a favored aide of Xuan Li.
"Xuan Brother, it's been hard to find you," came a clear voice as the ethereal figure of Hibiscus arrived at the Heart of the Lake Pavilion.
"Father is waiting; everyone follow me," he said lightly. As he walked alongside Hibiscus, Xuan Li showed no irritation, with everyone following behind them.
"Just now, I noticed that Xuan Brother's complexion was slightly off. Are you feeling better?" Hibiscus asked with concern.
Xuan Li nodded. Only when he was around the Mu Family could he feel at ease, because the Mu Family would not harm him or covet him.
"The Lantern Festival doesn't start until tonight. Why are we here so early this year?"
"It's stuffy in the palace; I wanted to come out for a walk."
"There are thousands of beauties in the harem to relieve boredom."
"Where are the thousands? I have no consorts or courtiers," Xuan Li joked. He was a solitary emperor.
Hibiscus chuckled but remained silent.
"It's still early; we can go hunting and stretch our legs," Xuan Li suggested.
"No wonder," Hibiscus nodded in approval.
The Old Master of the Mu Family basically no longer managed affairs, focusing instead on planting flowers and tending to grass. So today, Master Mu was hosting Xuan Li and his party.
After lunch, Hibiscus mentioned the hunting plan to Master Mu. He readily agreed and reminded Xuan Li and the Three Friends of Winter to be careful.
"The horses and bows are being prepared," Lin Ke reported.
Hibiscus nodded and said, "Everyone take a short break; I will go visit my mother."
After Hibiscus stepped outside, she had not gone far when she was called back.
“Brother Xuan, what do you need me for?”
“I will accompany you.”
Thus, they went to the Listening Rain Pavilion together.
Hibiscus inquired about her mother's health.
Xuan Li also expressed concern, saying, “I hope the lady recovers soon.”
“Thank you, Your Majesty.” Ji Yuyan nodded in gratitude from her bed.
Hibiscus was about to head to the kitchen to find Fengyin to go hunting together when Fengyin happened to come in with medicine. Since Hibiscus had mentioned before that she did not wear a veil in the Listening Rain Pavilion, she looked up as she entered and saw Hibiscus smiling at her like a spring breeze.
She smiled back but then noticed that there was also Jin Yi Gongzi standing in the room. His complexion was normal now, no longer pale, and his sharp eyebrows and starry eyes were quite handsome. Was he really here to seek her prescription?
Ji Yuyan got up from the bed to take the medicine. “Yin'er is tired.”
Fengyin shook her head.
“Yin'er,” Hibiscus called out.
Fengyin looked at him with her beautiful eyes filled with inquiry.
“This is Young Master Xuan.”
“Hello, Young Master Xuan.” Fengyin curtsied.
Is it her? Xuan Li was not very sure at first; in the early morning, the thin veil made it hard to see clearly. Hearing her speak, he realized it really was her.
"Xuan Brother, this is Fengyin."
"Hello, Miss Feng." Xuan Li nodded, his eyes no longer as icy as they had been in the morning. Fengyin glanced at him and then took out the prescription she had already written from her sleeve and handed it to Hibiscus.
"This is his prescription," Fengyin said softly. She then lowered her gaze and stood behind Hibiscus.
"Xuan Brother, this is the prescription the doctor gave you. You must get better," Hibiscus said cheerfully.
"I find it quite strange that Miss Feng didn't deliver it to me personally," Xuan Li teased, lost in thought.
Hibiscus raised an eyebrow; she knew that Fengyin was shy and was about to speak.
"Hehe, don't tease him, Young Master. Yin'er is quite shy," Ji Yuyan said with a smile after finishing her medicine.
Shy? He hadn’t seen her shy earlier in the morning.
"Yin'er, Jin'er and the others are going hunting. You haven't had a chance to explore the capital since you arrived; why not join them today?" Ji Yuyan said warmly.
Fengyin nodded and then bid farewell to Ji Yuyan along with Hibiscus.
As soon as they stepped out of the room, Hibiscus asked, "Where is your veil?"
Fengyin scratched her head adorably, seemingly having forgotten in her busyness.
At that moment, Aunt Xu came out from the inner room. "Young Master, the young lady's veil was forgotten," she said, handing the thin veil to Hibiscus. Hibiscus gently helped Fengyin put it on while the emperor stood nearby. Perhaps people from the Mu Family were used to being casual; Xuan Li had seen enough to not be surprised.
It was too cunning, asserting dominance and leaving no room for imagination.
“Xuan Brother, please.” Hibiscus continued to smile like a spring breeze.
Xuan Li stood with his hands behind his back, exuding a chilling nobility.
“Brother Mugen!!!!” Upon seeing Hibiscus, Spiritual Incense was overjoyed and hurried over. Her round figure squeezed in next to Hibiscus, while Fengyin took a few steps back to steady herself, tucking a few loose strands of hair behind her ear. She glanced at the beaming Spiritual Incense before lowering her gaze.
Hibiscus felt slightly annoyed but couldn't express it, looking at Xuan Li for help.
Xuan Li pretended not to see, gazing up at the sky. The weather was truly nice, a clear blue with no clouds in sight.
Hibiscus pushed away Spiritual Incense's hand. “The horses and bows are ready; ladies, please get on the carriage.”
There were three carriages: the front one for the master, the middle one for Spiritual Incense and Jinse, along with several maidservants, and the last one for carrying some items.
With more than ten horses, Hibiscus led Fengyin to the first carriage. Spiritual Incense and Jinse had already boarded and were chatting happily inside.
“Get in,” Hibiscus said warmly.
Lin Ke opened the door for Fengyin, who then stepped into the carriage.
