Rek, who was swinging the Demon Blade at high speed, suddenly felt a cramp in his hands after a sigh echoed from deep within the cave. The Demon Blade flew out of his grip.
With a thud, the Demon Blade embedded itself into the stone wall ahead, leaving only the hilt exposed while the blade was buried deep within.
"Ah!" After stopping, Rek clutched his cramping hands and stared blankly at the swarm of Head Abominations rushing towards him. Weaponless and with his hands still cramping, he couldn't use the Bone Blade that came with his Genetic Mech for a short time. He had lost his combat capability.
"You arrogant fool! You were just bragging about being able to hold off monsters for another hour or two, and now you can't even last a couple of seconds!" Alice rolled her eyes at Rek and quickly rushed forward, wielding her twin swords to intercept the attacking Head Abominations that were lunging at Rek.
Maya also had to give up on using her Genetic Mech to heal and restore her body. Dragging her numb body, she charged forward alongside Alice to block the swarm of Head Abominations.
However, these Head Abominations turned red and became enraged, their speed and resilience increasing more than double. The Head Abominations that Alice could slice in half with one strike now required two strikes to finish off even half of their heads.
"Rek, hurry up and recover! These Head Abominations that used to be hairless have become stronger with their short hair now."
"Once your arms are back to normal, we need to try to push forward before Alice and I lose our combat ability. You need to pull the Demon Blade out of the wall to fend off these Alien Species; that's our only hope for survival until rescue arrives."
"Don't worry about not being able to pull out the Demon Blade; this weapon is an elite augmentation already fused with your body. Even if it's embedded in a metal wall, you can still pull it out using your Mental Energy," Maya said. She also possessed an exquisite Augmented Weapon sword and understood some tricks for using such high-quality weapons.
"Oh! I'll do my best to recover; just give me five more minutes," Rek said as he rubbed his hands together, enduring the pain from the cramps.
Suddenly, amidst the siege of three people and one monkey by the Head Abominations, hundreds of Alien Species turned their heads towards them.
"Not good! Alice, throw the bomb!" Rek shouted upon seeing this situation from behind. He tried to take out the bomb that Alice had given him earlier with his trembling hands, but the cramps slowed him down.
The sharp hairs on hundreds of Headless Abominations quickly detached from their heads like steel needles, transforming into projectiles aimed at Rek and his companions. The speed was so fast that there was no time to dodge, and there wasn't enough space around them to escape.
Seeing the sudden attack of thousands of Steel Needles coming their way, Alice realized she wouldn't have enough time to throw the bomb and detonate it.
At that moment, the Fighting Saint Monkey leaped bravely in front of them, spinning its metal pipe.
The rapidly spinning metal pipe blocked most of the needle-like projectiles.
The sound of hair colliding with the Metal Pipe rang out continuously.
But there were still some needles that had slipped past at the very front, and the speed of the Fighting Saint Monkey was still a bit slow.
Hundreds of sharp needles struck the body of the Fighting Saint Monkey in an instant.
The physical strength of the Fighting Saint Monkey was stronger than all the Genetic Mechs present, but even so, its body was pierced with small holes by the needles, except for the brain it had deliberately protected. The Fighting Saint Monkey instantly resembled a large porcupine.
Dozens of needles slipped past the Fighting Saint Monkey's body and shot towards the three people behind.
After a brief glance at each other, Alice and Maya brandished their weapons and stepped forward.
However, now that they were already injured, their bodies had partially lost sensation due to the neurotoxin from their wounds, and their speed couldn't keep up with their reactions. Dozens of needles embedded themselves in both of their bodies.
Alice and Maya, in perfect sync, used their bodies to block all remaining needles, protecting Rek behind them and preventing him from getting hurt.
Soon, the Fighting Saint Monkey, Alice, and Maya, all struck by the needles, fell to the ground and lost consciousness.
"Attacking with hair! What a waste; it's just a matter of dying sooner or later. Why come up to be my shield? It makes it seem like I owe you something," Rek thought to himself. He hadn't yet heard the War God System's failure notification, knowing that Alice and Maya were still alive at this moment.
But with this sudden turn of events, Rek felt that death was not far away.
In the distance, numerous Head Abominations had lost their heads and were growing hair wildly. Their red bodies began to weaken and return to their original color.
These Head Abominations remained in place without moving, staring at Rek, the only one still standing.
Staring back at hundreds of Head Abominations made Rek feel very uneasy.
With his hands still cramping and not recovering, Rek felt as if he were a dish being contemplated by these Head Abominations on how best to devour him.
A few seconds later, Rek saw that these Head Abominations actually opened a pathway wide enough for a person to walk through, with heads either standing or lying on either side of this passage.
The Head Abominations bared their teeth and screamed at Rek.
"Come here!" A hoarse voice came from deep within the cave.
"There are still talking Alien Species!" Rek thought to himself but dared not ask any further questions at this moment.
In this situation, Rek could only follow the hoarse voice from deep within the cave to summon help.
Rek slowly moved his body, walking through the narrow passageway that the Head Abominations had cleared for him.
When he reached the stone wall ahead, Rek focused his Mental Energy and raised his still trembling hands to pull out the Demon Blade embedded in the wall.
With the Demon Blade in hand, Rek felt a slight sense of self-preservation.
However, Rek also knew that even with the Demon Blade, he couldn't defeat so many Head Abomination minions, let alone the unknown Alien Boss deeper in the cave.
Seeing Rek draw the Demon Blade again, the cries of the surrounding Head Abominations became even more piercing. Fortunately, these Alien Species did not rush forward to attack Rek.
"Since I can't win anyway, I might as well be carefree! At most, I'll just die; who’s afraid of whom!" Rek thought to himself.
With this thought, Rek's tense spirit relaxed a bit. He held the Demon Blade casually and strode boldly along the path cleared by hundreds of Head Abominations.
Rek's large strides resembled a general reviewing his troops, with these Head Abominations acting as soldiers welcoming him.
Following the Underground Vein, he walked another hundred meters and discovered that this Underground Vein had actually been extended, increasing in length by about half compared to the original length of the Underground Shelter in Parallel Space.
It was likely that over the past ten thousand years, the Head Abomination leader had been digging and maintaining this Underground Bunker along with his numerous minions.
