As Ren and Lysias slowly slid down, their heartbeats seemed to be drowned out by the hissing of the high altitude. The glass surface beneath them allowed them to slide as fast as lightning, but the high altitude of Night City suddenly echoed with discordant rumbling. Lysias glanced at Ren, and both of them understood that this was far from a good sign.
They looked up to see dozens of fully equipped Kang Tao robots swiftly sliding down the glass, each with flashing red identification lights, seemingly issuing a deathly warning to the two of them. Their steel and iron bodies gleamed with cold lights, and the Kang Tao emblem was clearly marked on their chests. These robots wielded advanced firearms, and from their mechanical mouths, the command to "arrest the criminals" was repeated in a cold and monotonous voice.
And then, a drone appeared, not just an ordinary surveillance drone, but a high-tech product equipped with advanced cameras and communication devices. It quickly found the best surveillance angle, ensuring that every move of Ren and Lysias was within its field of view.
The voice of Safety Supervisor suddenly sounded from the drone's speaker, sharp and mocking: "Oh, Mr. Ren, Mr. Lysias, do you really think you can easily escape from Kang Tao's security system? I must tell you, this is Kang Tao, our technology and resources far exceed your imagination."
As the robots of Kang Tao approached, Lysias held gunfire in his hand, bullets raining down towards the robots. However, these advanced robots had excellent reaction speed and ballistic prediction technology, allowing them to easily dodge most of the bullets.
In an instant, Ren grasped the situation and a strategy flashed through his mind. He shouted to Lysias, "Don't waste your bullets! Shoot the glass beneath their feet!"
Lysias instantly understood Ren's meaning. He immediately adjusted the shooting angle, tilted his head up to the limit, and then used the gun's sight to shoot precisely at the glass plates under the robots' feet. The huge impact shattered the glass, creating an astonishing cavity.
The robots, who were about to chase the two people, had no idea what was coming. One by one, they fell into the cavity, and their figures disappeared as if swallowed by the Kang Tao building.
Ren and Lysias were tightly pressed against the outer wall of the high-rise building, their hearts pounding like drums, their breath slightly quickened. The speaker on the drone sounded again, and the Safety Supervisor said with a hint of self-mockery, "Well, your performance indeed exceeded my expectations, yes. I really admire your intelligence and courage."
Ren turned his head, the interface of the security system still flickering on his Artificial eye, and he responded with a smile, "Oh, thank you for your praise, I really appreciate it. After all, who doesn't want to be a guest of Kang Tao?"
Lysias then glanced quietly down below, with only five floors left. His tense body relaxed slightly.
Ren continued, "Actually, we just want to remind you that if there are any senior executives in the company who are not pleasing to the eye, or need to disappear, you can come to us. Our prices are fair, and the results are guaranteed."
The laughter of the Safety Supervisor rang out on the broadcast, as if he was really enjoying the game: "Haha, you are really humorous, Ren. But you should know, the game is not over yet."
Ren and Lysias exchanged a glance, without words, but understanding each other's thoughts. Both of them adjusted their postures, the glass beneath their feet cracked, and they prepared to jump forward for the final sprint.
However, just at this moment, the malicious laughter of the Safety Supervisor echoed in the air again, as he coldly said, "Do you think you can just leave so easily? This game has only just begun."
As Ren and Lysias landed, their feet were a little sore. Ren smiled faintly and sighed, "The familiar ground is still comfortable."
But before he could finish his sentence, the military two-legged robot from the high-rise building had already started to jump down. Its metal body weight caused the entire ground to shake, and in the air, it had already begun to unleash a barrage of firepower at them. Bullets rained down like drops, hitting the ground and sparking patches of fire, raising dust and smoke.
Lysias quickly found cover, and Ren also refused to show weakness, finding another obstacle to hide behind. Both of them peeked out, only to see the huge robot approaching their position with heavy and powerful strides.
Ren was shocked, he knew the power of this type of robot. And beyond his line of sight, the unmanned aerial vehicle appeared again, carrying the voice of Safety Supervisor. His evil laughter echoed throughout the entire open space: "Haha, I told you, this game has just begun! Now, let's see how you escape from my grasp!"
Lysias gritted his teeth and said, "This guy is really annoying!" Then he asked Ren with a hint of nervousness in his tone, "Where is our transportation?"
Ren secretly raised his head and looked across the alley towards the parking lot through the night and thick smoke. He pointed to a slightly faded, weathered Pallet and said, "It's right there. That old one. Do you see it?"
Lysias quickly locked onto the target with his eyes, grinned with his characteristic sly smile, and said, "Looks like I'll need you to cover me this time." Then, he suddenly popped out from behind cover, his footsteps blending almost seamlessly with his shadow, and sprinted towards the direction of Pallet.
Ren took a deep breath, knowing he had to attract the robot's attention to give Lysias enough time to activate Pallet. He quickly drew his gun from his waist, stood on one side of the cover, and began taunting the robot loudly: "Hey! You're so big, yet you're still being toyed with by a human. What a useless guy you are!"
The robot's red light sensor flashed, clearly drawn to Ren. Countless bullets sprayed from the robot's gun, forming a curtain of bullets, directly aimed at Ren. Ren quickly dodged, darting between the ruins and buildings. Whenever he found a relatively safe spot, he quickly fired back, disrupting the robot's rhythm of action.
