"Yifan, what's wrong?" Her friend noticed Wen Yifan's unusual behavior and followed her gaze to the bar. "Wow, isn't that Sang Yan? Come on, let's go say hi!" 0

Before Wen Yifan could stop her, she was pulled by her friend to the bar. 0

"Sang Yan!" her friend greeted enthusiastically. 0

Sang Yan turned around and, upon seeing Wen Yifan, a hint of surprise flashed in his eyes, quickly replaced by a playful smirk. "What a coincidence, Wen the Journalist is at a place like this?" 0

Wen Yifan's heart raced as she struggled to control her emotions, responding as calmly as possible, "Just a gathering with friends, thought I'd come by." 0

"Is that so?" Sang Yan raised an eyebrow, looking at her meaningfully. "I thought Wen the Journalist only liked those elegant places." 0

Her friend was oblivious to the subtle tension between them and continued chatting with Sang Yan. "Sang Yan, long time no see! Your bar is getting more popular; it's really crowded today!" 0

Sang Yan smiled lightly. "It's alright." 0

"This beautiful lady is?" Sang Yan's gaze fell on Wen Yifan's friend. 0

"Oh, her name is..." Just as her friend was about to introduce her, Wen Yifan interrupted, "We have something to do; we need to excuse ourselves." 0

Without waiting for her friend to react, she hurriedly pulled her away from the bar. 0

Her friend looked confused. "Yifan, what are you doing? It's not easy to run into Sang Yan; why not chat a bit longer?" 0

Wen Yifan took a deep breath, suppressing the chaos inside her, and forced a smile. "I'm feeling a bit unwell today; I want to head home and rest early." 0

"Really?" Her friend looked at her with skepticism. 0

"Really, when have I ever lied to you?" Wen Yifan pushed her friend out of the bar, saying, "Come on, let's go. I'll take you home." 0

At the noisy entrance of the bar, Wen Yifan watched her friend get into a taxi and leave before turning to walk towards her own car. 0

The night breeze brushed against her cheeks, dispersing some of the heat but failing to clear the turmoil in her heart. 0

It had been seven years since she last saw Sang Yan, and he was still the most dazzling presence in the crowd, exuding a deadly charm with every gesture. Meanwhile, she felt like a child who had done something wrong, at a loss in front of him. 0

"It seems that some things can't just be diluted by time," Wen Yifan murmured to herself, her eyes filled with complex emotions. 0

She opened the car door, sat in the driver's seat, started the engine, and slowly drove away from the street that held so many memories. 0

==================== 0

Wen Yifan rolled down the car window, letting the cool night breeze disperse the stuffiness inside while also trying to blow away the inexplicable irritation in her heart. When she returned home, she discovered that a water pipe had burst in an upstairs apartment, causing water to seep through her ceiling and large chunks of plaster to fall off the walls. 0

"How could this happen..." Wen Yifan looked at the messy room, feeling like crying but unable to shed any tears. 0

At that moment, her landlord called. "Hello, Xiao Wen? I've already heard about your leak. I'm really sorry! How about this: I can offer you another apartment and lower the rent a bit. What do you think..." 0

Before the landlord could finish speaking, Wen Yifan hurriedly asked, "Landlord, do you know if there are any other apartments for rent nearby? I need to move out urgently." 0

"Coincidentally, I have an empty apartment available just..." The landlord paused. "It's on the same floor as your current one, directly across from yours. If it's convenient for you, you can go take a look right now." 0

Wen Yifan was taken aback for a moment. Same floor? Sang Yan's face involuntarily flashed through her mind. After hesitating for a moment, she agreed. 0

Hanging up the phone, Wen Yifan took a deep breath and reassured herself: it was just a coincidence; there was no way she would run into him by chance. 0

After quickly tidying up her luggage, Wen Yifan dragged her suitcase to the apartment mentioned by the landlord. As the door opened, a faint cool fragrance wafted out. The room was simply yet elegantly decorated, with good lighting, resembling the style of her previous place. 0

"How is it, Xiao Wen? This apartment isn't bad, right?" the landlord enthusiastically introduced. 0

"Yes, it's quite nice," Wen Yifan replied, looking around and feeling satisfied with the apartment. 0

"That's good to hear," the landlord sighed in relief. "Shall we sign the contract now?" 0

Wen Yifan nodded and was about to sign when the landlord's phone rang. He glanced at the caller ID and smiled apologetically at Wen Yifan. "Sorry, Xiao Wen, I need to take this call." 0

The landlord stepped aside to answer the phone, leaving Wen Yifan to idly survey the room. At that moment, she noticed a black Zippo lighter on the coffee table in the living room. Its simple design inexplicably made her heart tighten. 0

"This... isn't this Sang Yan's lighter?" a thought flashed through Wen Yifan's mind. 0

She picked up the lighter and examined it closely; there was a small letter "S" engraved on the bottom. 0

"It is him..." Wen Yifan's heart raced, and a thin layer of sweat formed in her palms. 0

Just then, the landlord finished his call and walked back over. "Sorry for keeping you waiting, Xiao Wen." 0

Wen Yifan suppressed her rising panic and feigned calmness as she asked, "Landlord, who lived in this apartment before?" 0

"Oh, this apartment," the landlord chuckled. "It was lived in by my nephew. He recently went abroad, so he vacated it." 0

Nephew? Wen Yifan's fingers tightened slightly. Could it really be him? 0

"Xiao Wen, do you have any questions?" The landlord asked with concern upon noticing her unusual expression. 0

"No... no questions," Wen Yifan took a deep breath, trying to appear calmer. "I was just a bit curious about what your nephew does." 0

The landlord paused for a moment before smiling and saying, "Oh, he runs a bar, just..." 0

Before the landlord could finish, an abrupt doorbell interrupted. 0

"Dong dong dong—" 0

Wen Yifan's heart skipped a beat, an ominous feeling washing over her. 0

The landlord walked over to open the door, revealing a tall and upright figure at the entrance—none other than Sang Yan. 0

"Xiao..." The landlord started to speak but was cut off by Sang Yan. 0

"What are you doing here?" Sang Yan's tone carried a hint of displeasure as his gaze shifted past the landlord to rest on Wen Yifan, who stood in the center of the living room. 0

Their eyes met, and the air seemed to freeze in that moment. 0

Wen Yifan's mind went blank; she could only stare at Sang Yan, her lips moved slightly but she couldn't find the words to say. 0

"It seems we are quite fated, Journalist Wen," Sang Yan said with an enigmatic smile as he strode inside. 0
