For many of the Fleet Girls, Chuyang's impression still lingered on the game illustrations.
Dressed in a red and white archery uniform, with long black straight hair cascading down her back, carrying a flight deck, a quiver at her waist, and a bow in her right hand, the gentle smile on her beautiful face was all that Chuyang could remember about Akagi.
Although the woman in the crowd did not have a flight deck or a longbow, her attire resembled that of Akagi. Besides, they were in a bustling urban area, not at sea; which Fleet Girl would be foolish enough to set up here? So when Chuyang mentioned it, they both unconsciously quickened their pace to catch up.
Unfortunately, perhaps Chuyang had not checked the calendar before heading out today! In any case, when he and Lexington entered the food street, the initially sparse crowd suddenly became congested. Even though they were in a hurry, they could only stare helplessly at the throngs of people.
Especially to prevent Lexington from being taken advantage of in the dense crowd, Chuyang had to hold her tightly in his arms, which only slowed their progress further.
After they finally squeezed through the crowded area and reached a part of the food street where there were fewer people, they found that the woman in the kimono was already gone.
Looking around at the various restaurants, Chuyang still could not find the kimono-clad woman and had to reluctantly accept that they had lost track of her.
There was no other way; this food street only had one entrance and exit. Fifty meters ahead was the end of the street, where a three-meter-high wall separated it from the residential area behind it, blocking their path to continue searching for Akagi.
Although Chuyang had come with an attitude of "do your best and leave the rest to fate," hoping to find Akagi was naturally ideal; however, it was disappointing that just moments ago they had been less than twenty meters apart, and now they had completely lost sight of her.
"Admiral, look over there," Lexington gently tugged at Chuyang's arm while pointing in a direction for him to see.
There, about ten meters away at a shop entrance, stood a woman in a kimono holding a food bag as she walked out from inside. That woman was none other than Akagi, whom they had lost track of earlier.
"Let's go; we need to catch up," said Chuyang as he grabbed Lexington's hand. They jogged after the woman in the kimono.
"Hey! Akagi!" Lexington lightly tapped the shoulder of the kimono-clad woman.
"What is it?"
"I'm sorry; we mistook you for someone else."
"Such a waste of that outfit," Chuyang said with a face that looked like he had just eaten a fly.
He had never deeply understood the term "back-view assassin" before, but now he finally got it.
Who would have thought that a woman whose silhouette looked so beautiful would have such an unflattering appearance? Especially when she turned around and picked her nose with her finger, it reminded Chuyang of the character Ru Hua from Stephen Chow's movies.
"Admiral, it seems your expectations for Akagi are quite high," Lexington teased.
Although the woman wasn't particularly attractive, she was far from being extremely ugly. It could only be said that Chuyang's initial expectations were too high, leading to a strong sense of disappointment upon seeing her face.
"If Akagi looked like that, I would rather not have this Fleet Girls," Chuyang said decisively.
It couldn't be blamed on Chuyang being superficial; if all the character designs in the game had looked like that woman, he wouldn't have played the game at all. So it wasn't that Chuyang had overly high expectations for the Fleet Girls; rather, they had always been seen as elegant and refined in his mind.
"What does Akagi look like in your eyes, Admiral?"
Lexington had no complaints about Chuyang's harsh words. As a smart woman, she wouldn't ask him a foolish question like, "If I looked like that, would you still like me?"
Since she was naturally beautiful, she should make good use of this advantage to win Chuyang's heart. Although relying solely on looks may not last long, over time, even the most beautiful faces will fade away. But don't forget, she is a Fleet Girl; her beauty will not age.
"I don't remember Akagi's appearance very clearly, but it definitely won't be that kind of ghostly look."
"Admiral, Kaga says you're a lecher, and she's not wrong at all; you really do judge by appearances."
"I do not! I am truly sincere towards you, my dear. Even if you become less beautiful now, you will always be my wife," Chuyang said earnestly.
If at first Chuyang was attracted to Lexington's stunning beauty and fell for her at first sight, then after spending some time together, to him, Lexington was his wife. Even if her beauty faded with age, his heart would remain unchanged.
"Smooth talker."
Although saying this, Lexington's eyes were filled with tender affection as she gently rested her head on Chuyang's shoulder.
After leaving the food street, the two strolled through several nearby commercial streets. As noon approached, they finally found a well-decorated restaurant by the roadside and walked in.
The restaurant was an old establishment with a retro style. Inside, the spacious hall, approximately two hundred square meters, featured nine square Eight Immortals tables arranged in a grid. However, due to the approaching meal time, those tables were already occupied by numerous customers. Chuyang and Lexington were led by a waiter to a small table near the window.
After ordering their meals, while waiting for the food to arrive, Lexington went to the restroom, leaving Chuyang sitting there alone with nothing to do.
At this moment, as it was nearing Year-End, he could see through the restaurant's window that the streets were bustling with people. The shops along the street had already hung up large red lanterns above their doors.
On both sides of the road, various snack stands were set up selling all kinds of New Year goods. Some sold fireworks, others sold calligraphy spring couplets, and many more offered various specialty foods.
In short, the atmosphere of the New Year was very strong.
As Chuyang focused his gaze outside the window, the waiter brought their ordered dishes to the table. However, since Lexington had not returned yet, Chuyang did not touch his chopsticks and continued to gaze at the bustling street outside.
When he finally turned his attention back to the table, he noticed that in front of him, where Lexington should have been sitting, a young woman with long black hair was seated there without him noticing. She was happily devouring the food on the table without any reservations.
"Excuse me, who are you?"
