Although Firefly was just a Destroyer, for Chuyang, whose face was darker than an African brother's, there was a high possibility that Firefly would become his first Fleet Girl and the only one in his life. This was a real world where game levels did not exist. She was significantly stronger than many Destroyer Girls serving as instructors at the academy; calling her the top graduate of this year's Rongcheng Naval Academy Fleet Girl Academy Destroyer department would not be an exaggeration.
There was no way around it; this was a real world and not a game. There were no resources available for Fleet Girls to enhance their ship parameters. To improve themselves, there were only two paths: first, equip more powerful gear; second, through relentless effort and training in actual combat to continuously hone their skills for personal attribute growth.
Let's first discuss the first point: replacing equipment with more powerful gear is undoubtedly the most effective and quickest way to enhance the overall strength of the Fleet Girls. To acquire equipment, one can only search through the ruins of the Old World or scavenge on the battlefield, picking up intact weapons left behind by sunken Fleet Girls or Deep Sea Shipgirls. However, since they have been sunk, both Fleet Girls and Deep Sea Shipgirls would have suffered severe damage to their ships, leaving mostly wreckage behind. Finding a complete turret or torpedo launcher is rare; even locating a single intact ship component is quite a challenge. Therefore, the equipment of Fleet Girls appears extremely rare in this world.
Of course, if two Fleet Girls have a very close relationship, they can lend each other equipment. However, there is a saying among Fleet Girls: "A head can be severed, an Admiral can be replaced, but equipment must never be lent out..."
In the black market, even a basic piece of equipment has skyrocketed in price, while extraordinary weapons like the Kirov Gun are priceless and can only be exchanged for a large amount of Merit at Naval Headquarters, though there's no guarantee that one will actually get it. Any extraordinary weapon is something you might encounter but cannot seek out; even Naval Headquarters, the largest equipment depot in the world, often lacks stock.
Thus, attempting to achieve a significant enhancement in the overall strength of Fleet Girls through replacing their weapons with more powerful ones in a short time is essentially an unlikely endeavor.
As for improving attributes through personal effort and continuously seeking breakthroughs in battle, this often requires an extremely long time. So if Firefly truly is a Lieutenant-level Destroyer Girl as she claims, then her strength is indeed remarkable. Basically, as long as Chuyang can confirm that she is assigned to a coastal Land-Based Naval Base and does not venture deep into the sea or act recklessly to present herself as a hero or gain more Merit by ordering Firefly to confront Deep Sea Fleets that occasionally advance into coastal areas alone—just normal escort duties—then Firefly's safety should be assured.
"Lieutenant level?" Chuyang couldn't help but ask again.
"Yes! Firefly is really impressive, so Brother Chu Yang doesn't need to worry about me," Firefly confidently replied. It's worth noting that back at the previous Naval Base, before Rodney Sister and Nelson Sister arrived, she had always fought alongside Lexington Sister and Sister Helena under Admiral's command, eliminating many Deep Sea Shipgirls.
