Lin Haitao walked into the kitchen, where a shiny iron pot lid had a note stuck to it: Breakfast is in the pot, remember to take the lunch box. He lifted the lid to find two lightly fragrant oat buns and a bowl of warm corn egg drop soup. A smile crept onto Lin Haitao's lips as he happily began his breakfast. 0

Ever since Yezhi rented a room in his house, she had been leaving him meals. At first, he didn't pay much attention and left them untouched. After one, two, and three times, Yezhi confronted him at the door after his night shift, asking, "Xiaobinzi, why aren't you eating the food I left for you?" Hearing the long-lost nickname "Xiaobinzi" made him feel a sense of familiarity, and he finally realized that the food was meant for him. Besides saying thank you, he seemed to have added that it was unnecessary trouble. However, when he woke up from a nap, the food was still warm in the pot, along with another note: Stop talking so much; if I tell you to eat, just eat! From then on, he truly began to accept her kindness. Initially not picky about food, after eating Yezhi's cooking for several days, he found himself somewhat unaccustomed during the two days she was away. Now that Yezhi was back with her delicious meals, he was getting used to it but also started to fear this new habit. 0

"Xiao Lin, let's go! Time for lunch!" Lin Haitao raised his lunch box. "No thanks, Zhu Team; you and Zhang Dou go ahead!" Zhang Dou blinked in disbelief and exclaimed angrily, "Yezhi prepared another lunch box for you!" 0

"What's this? Hai Tao has a girlfriend now!" Zhu Team rubbed his hands together eagerly as he probed. 0

"No!" Lin Haitao firmly denied it. Zhang Dou exaggeratedly shouted, "He doesn't have that kind of luck!" Lin Haitao shot a cold glance at Zhang Dou, who shivered under his gaze and thought to himself: Look at your serious demeanor; it's no wonder Leaf Sister isn't interested. 0

"Then what does it mean that you're bringing a lunch box every day? You're making us all envious! We can't let you show off; the lunch box is confiscated." Zhu Team had been planning this for a while and was curious about what delicious food there was today. He snatched the lunch box and ran off to find a quiet place to enjoy it slowly. 0

Zhang Dou laughed heartily while holding his stomach; Zhu Team was too clever! Why hadn't he thought of this first? Lin Haitao looked at the empty table with a hint of amusement in his eyes. He stood up and walked toward the door. 0

Zhang Dou couldn't help but laugh behind him as he said gleefully, "Now you think about chasing after Zhu Team? Xiaobinzi, where have you been all this time? Haha!" Lin Haitao ignored Zhang Dou and headed to the cafeteria. 0

Yezhi rolled up the dark blue cushion. "Sister Ye, I'm going to your place to do my homework!" Zhang Ling affectionately linked arms with Yezhi as they prepared to head to Lin's house. 0

"Sure! But I need to stop by the butcher first!" Perhaps because Lin Haitao never cooked for himself, Yezhi had accumulated quite a few meat tickets. This made her ecstatic as a pork lover; during her first trip to the butcher's shop, all the meat was sold out. On her second visit, she almost got pushed down by the crowd. Finally, on her third attempt, she managed to buy some meat but was limited to one pound per person. After so many days in town and experiencing various failures in getting groceries and meat, Yezhi was becoming increasingly experienced. 0

Yezhi and Zhang Ling jogged over to the butcher's shop, where a crowd had already formed outside. Yezhi anxiously grabbed her hair in frustration; they were late—this was bad. Seeing Yezhi so downcast, Zhang Ling steeled herself and pulled Yezhi into the crowd. After some effort squeezing through gaps in the throng, Zhang Ling shouted at the cashier Fat Woman: "Aunt Qin! Aunt Qin!" 0

The Fat Woman discovered Zhang Ling and cheerfully walked over, shouting, "Make some room, can't you see the young lady?" Among the crowd of Aunts, the older sister was not easy to bully. With a sharp tongue, the Fat Woman commanded, "Be civilized! Bullying a young girl is nothing! Are you buying meat or not? If you want to buy, step forward." Surprisingly, her shout had quite an effect; although the Aunts kept talking, they indeed made way. Yezhi and Zhang Ling stood side by side without any issues. "Reiko, do you want to be in front or behind?" 0

Zhang Ling's round face flushed with a rosy hue. Before she could speak, Aunt Qin already knew her intention. Zhang Ling tugged at Yezhi's sleeve, "Sister Ye! You say!" 0

"One in front and one in back?" Yezhi felt a bit timid about going through the back door for the first time and didn't dare to ask for too much. The Fat Woman smiled and nodded, then turned to leave. After a while, she quietly handed two pieces of meat wrapped in newspaper to Yezhi. Yezhi quickly offered the money, and after counting it, the Fat Woman smiled at Yezhi and said, "Reiko brought you in; don't be shy from now on. If you want to buy meat, just come find me!" Yezhi, who deeply understood the benefits of having someone helpful, nodded happily. 0

Yezhi left the butcher shop with the meat in hand and shamelessly asked as she walked, "Sister, do you know anyone at the Vegetable Store?" Zhang Ling frowned, "Sister Ye, just this once! If my dad finds out, he'll definitely break my legs." 0

"Ah!" Yezhi was taken aback. No way! She had paid for it; it couldn't be that serious. Yezhi's dad had a comrade working at the butcher shop; when she was little, she would always go to that uncle whenever they needed meat. This slightly skewed sense of propriety made Yezhi firm on major issues but rather lenient on minor ones. 0

"Sister Ye!" Zhang Ling stared at Yezhi, wanting her to promise. Having just enjoyed the convenience of going through the back door, Yezhi felt a bit reluctant but patted her chest and promised not to buy meat from that shop again. 0

Back at the Lin family home, Yezhi heated up the kang (a traditional heated bed) and finished her homework with Zhang Ling at the kang table. Yezhi invited Zhang Ling to stay for dinner, but Zhang Ling shook her head in refusal. Having dinner alone again wasn’t too bad since she wouldn’t even cook if Xiaobinzi didn’t share; if instant noodles were sold in this era, she would probably find even boiling water too troublesome and would just gnaw on something. 0

"Master, there’s a Cosmic Express delivery." A delivery! The main components for the energy extraction equipment were custom-made so quickly! Yezhi joyfully climbed off the kang and went to the courtyard. 0

A dark blue glowing box appeared before Yezhi. She casually opened it, and a transparent bubble floated up inside it with a curled-up puppy lying within. Yezhi exclaimed, "Xiao Fang!" 0

Xiao Fang jumped out from within the glasses and exclaimed, "Master!?" 0

Yezhi nervously pointed at the bubble and said, "Xiao Fang, quickly check if Cilou Dog is dead!" Oh no! This was terrible; her million meals were about to go down the drain—her heart ached terribly... 0

"Oh Ciliu, you finally came! Xiao Fang waited until the flowers wilted!" Xiao Fang rushed forward to hug the bubble and was so happy that he didn’t know where he was anymore. 0

"Master, quickly take the small bottle out of the box!" Upon hearing Xiao Fang's sudden scream, Yezhi instinctively grabbed the small bottle, and in the blink of an eye, the black box disappeared. 0

"Master, sprinkle the potion from the small bottle onto the bubble." Yezhi complied, and after the colorless liquid was sprinkled on the bubble, there was a loud "bang." 0

The Cilou Dog jumped onto the ground with a "woof woof," its big, wet, glassy eyes filled with affection for Yezhi. Yezhi was smitten by the Cilou Dog's adorable appearance and called out sweetly, "Niu Niu!" 0

The Cilou Dog had been waiting for its master's affectionate call and dashed into Yezhi's arms. Its soft, curly fur felt as smooth as velvet. As Yezhi petted it, she marveled at how wonderful it would be to make a fur coat out of it. 0
