“Little Sister! Please let go!”
Panicking and sweating profusely, One Egg jumped out from behind Yezhi, unsure of what to do. Finally, he closed his eyes and lifted Little Girl's dark head, while Yezhi, whose arm was firmly bitten by Little Girl, felt no pain but was lost in the fierce gaze of Little Girl.
One Egg was in a dilemma; he feared that Little Sister would hurt Sister Ye, and he also worried that he might accidentally hurt Little Sister with his roughness. He nervously glanced at the surrounding pack of wolves, which were restless.
The wolves were slowly closing in on them, their green eyes flickering. These wild wolves had learned about humans through long-term contact, especially being sensitive to guns. Therefore, unless they were cornered, they rarely attacked humans. The pack had a certain hierarchy, and the Big Bad Wolf, who was inseparable from Little Girl, was clearly the leader of this group. The traditional Chinese culture surrounding evil wolves made Yezhi feel a bit fearful; perhaps it was because their generation grew up hearing stories about “the wolf is coming” and how wolves eat people. In reality, wolves are very cooperative and caring when it comes to hunting prey and raising young ones; otherwise, how could Little Girl grow up among them? For Little Girl, it seemed that she and One Egg were the outsiders.
Surrounded by the pack, Yezhi shouted at the proud-headed Leader Wolf: “I won’t take her away against her will, so don’t send your subordinates to attack! If someone gets hurt, it won’t be intentional!”
“Master, use the Beast Binding Rope and the Shockwave Power Gloves. We can eliminate these vicious creatures!” Xiao Fang earnestly suggested to the master.
Contrary to Xiao Fang's thoughts, Yezhi believed that if they truly wiped out the wolves, Little Girl would never be able to return to her kind. Compromising with the pack was the best solution; there is emotion in human relationships, and all life has feelings.
The communication through the “Pet Communicator” was intuitive. As a wolf girl, Little Girl had an innate sense of danger. She felt no malice from these two humans who resembled her; she was merely provoked by their words but now felt somewhat calmed by them. Should she trust them? Confused, Little Girl loosened her grip and stepped back next to Leader Wolf.
“Little Sister! ” One Egg wanted to pull Little Girl over but was stopped by Yezhi.
“You two should leave!” The new information relayed through the “Pet Communicator” urged her and One Egg to depart. A long howl from Leader Wolf echoed, followed by a chorus of howls from the surrounding wolves: “Hurry up and leave! If you really try to take our companion away, we will fight to the end!”
Feeling emotional, Yezhi thought: sometimes humans are not as loyal as these beasts. In a way, Little Girl was fortunate; such unwavering affection is something many people search for their entire lives without finding.
Staring intently at both Leader Wolf and Little Girl, Yezhi shouted: “We’ll come to see you when we have time!” Startled for a moment, Little Girl wondered why she understood every word this human said!
With wide eyes filled with disbelief, One Egg exclaimed: “Sister Ye, are we really leaving like this?”
“One Egg, let’s go!” With an incredulous expression, he protested: “No way! I’m not leaving!”
Yezhi had a headache. When One Egg's stubbornness kicked in, no amount of persuasion would work! Xiao Fang also asked, "Master, are we really leaving?" To gain the trust of Little Girl and the wolf pack, Yezhi stopped wasting words. While pulling One Egg along, Yezhi kept an eye on the wolves that were still watching them and took steps backward to leave.
One Egg pouted, looking defiant, but couldn't break free from Yezhi's grip on his arm. He couldn't understand: why were they leaving? Why not take Little Sister with them? And when did Sister Ye become stronger than him?
After dragging One Egg for a long while, they finally reached the creek. Yezhi let go of the still confused One Egg. Before Yezhi could react, One Egg dashed toward the dense forest where the wolves had been.
That little brat ran surprisingly fast. Yezhi shouted while chasing after him. Xiao Fang could teleport five meters ahead, but his virtual form couldn't stop the physical One Egg, who passed right through him.
"Xiao Fang, check if the wolf pack has left!" Yezhi said breathlessly.
Xiao Fang emitted a probing light. After a while, the image returned to Yezhi's eyes. The departure of the wolf pack allowed Yezhi to slow down.
"Hey! Little Sister! Little Sister!" One Egg arrived at the previous dense forest, calling out while not knowing which direction to chase. Frustrated, he hung his head and squatted down to draw circles in the dirt.
Yezhi walked over slowly, ignoring One Egg, and found a dry branch to sit down and rest. Hearing a noise, One Egg looked up briefly and huffed before continuing to draw circles.
After resting enough, Yezhi took out some Blackcurrants from his bag, wiped them with a handkerchief, and started eating them happily. "Hmm! Not bad, not bad, delicious!" After finishing about ten Blackcurrants, Yezhi took out some purple Schisandra he had just picked in the woods and started eating. "Oh my gosh, sour and salty!"
"Master, I told you not to pick those earlier. Schisandra is a medicinal herb; how can medicine compare to fruit?" Bodria Star System thought it was strange for anyone to eat medicine for no reason.
"Sister Ye, we finally encountered her; why let Little Sister go!" One Egg finally lost his patience and shouted at Yezhi.
Yezhi sighed. "One Egg, didn't you see she didn't want to? Forcing someone won't bring happiness!"
"What happiness? Being with wild wolves is happiness!" How could he not understand what Sister Ye was saying? One Egg frustratedly tugged at his hair.
"One Egg, to her, wild wolves are family, while you and I are nothing. Rushing won't get you hot tofu; just trust Sister Ye this once!" Yezhi said earnestly.
One Egg believed in Yezhi, although he did not understand why Little Sister would feel forced and unhappy if she returned with them. Nevertheless, he nodded.
"Master, Xiao Fang also doesn't understand why Little Girl would be unhappy coming back with us." Xiao Fang looked confused; the master had explained the definition of happiness, but the answer found on the Cosmic Network was that happiness was just a feeling. As long as they provided her with that feeling, it should be fine.
Yezhi did not respond but fell silent for a moment before saying, "For Black Treasure's sake, we should send Black Treasure back to the forest..." Before Yezhi could finish, One Egg and Xiao Fang shouted in unison, "How can that be? Black Treasure is..."
One Egg clenched his fists and silently shouted: Black Treasure is my playmate, my little brother, my friend! Yezhi smiled and asked, "What is it then?"
Xiao Fang, deep in thought, suddenly exclaimed, "It's a member of our family! Master, Xiao Fang understands now!"
One Egg, pondering thoughtfully, also laughed heartily and said, "Sister Ye, I get it now!"
Yezhi pretended to be serious and asked, "Do you really understand?" One Egg and Xiao Fang nodded vigorously.
Having figured it out, One Egg strolled through the forest with Yezhi while joking and laughing, with Xiao Fang hopping alongside them.
Suddenly, One Egg dashed into the dense forest ahead as if he had discovered a new continent. He picked several deep green oval fruits from a large tree.
"Sister Ye, this is Kiwi; it only grows in the deep mountains and is sweet and delicious. Try it!" Yezhi took the deep green fruit and examined it closely. This Kiwi couldn't possibly be the same as the ones sold in stores. After peeling off the skin and seeing the small black seeds inside, it truly was Kiwi.
The flavor of Kiwi was rich and sweet; the flesh was delicate—soft but not mushy—unlike those sold in supermarkets that were either hard and sour or sweet-sour with a hint of alcohol taste and mushy flesh.
Seeing his master enjoying the fruit so much, Xiao Fang knew it was something good. His eyes lit up as he approached a green vine climbing around a tree trunk and began to tap it vigorously while creating a three-dimensional image.
After savoring the "king of fruits," Yezhi still felt unsatisfied and kept reminiscing about it. "One Egg, it's not easy to come to the deep mountains; we should pick more of these great fruits!" With that, she joyfully ran to the base of the tree where there were actually quite a few ripe Kiwis that had fallen to the ground. Indeed, Yezhi managed to collect quite a few intact ones.
One Egg cooperatively climbed up the large tree to pick green Kiwis from high up on the vine while Yezhi stood below to catch them.
"Quick, look, someone is stealing our fruit."
Yezhi exclaimed! The light blue sound waves trembled in the air. "Xiao Fang, how could this happen?" Yezhi pointed at the pendant on her chest.
Xiao Fang was surprised for a moment, then burst into laughter. "Master, we hit the jackpot! I didn't expect the language codes on Earth to be so easy to crack. At this rate, we can decipher more than one animal language!"
Yezhi remained calm after hearing this. Communication could only serve as a means; if it weren't for Little Girl's favor, would she really be safe dealing with wild wolves given her extraordinary abilities? So, relying solely on communication was of no use; the law of the jungle was the ultimate truth.
"I'll only pick half and leave once I'm done," Yezhi shouted into the dense forest.
"Sister Ye, can we carry half?" One Egg jumped down from a tree, wrapping the picked Kiwi in his clothes. Eager to gather more, Yezhi wondered if she could finish picking the twenty-meter-long green vines.
Yezhi chuckled at herself and called out to One Egg, "Let's head back!" One Egg, bare-chested and holding a full load of Kiwi, followed Yezhi down the mountain toward home.
This time they truly ran deep into the mountains. Without Xiao Fang's guidance, they would have surely lost their way home. As the sun set, they finally returned to the village.
One Egg accompanied Yezhi back to her house. As soon as they entered the yard, they were greeted by Black Treasure's enthusiastic bear hug. Aunt Zhou had been anxious all day and finally felt relieved at that moment. Black Treasure, with its plump body, clung to One Egg, sniffing around curiously.
Yezhi poked Black Treasure with her finger to get it to calm down a bit. One Egg showered Black Treasure with affection, tossing a few Kiwis into its long mouth. Black Treasure opened its big mouth, chewing happily while One Egg and Black Treasure sat closely together on the Big Wooden Platform, sharing Kiwis like best buddies.
Helping Aunt Zhou prepare dinner, Yezhi took over some vegetable pancakes and garlic stir-fried green beans and placed them on the kang table. She called out from outside, "One Egg, it's time to eat." Aunt Zhou hurriedly served a bowl of soup for Black Treasure to soak its pancakes.
Once seated on the kang, Yezhi and One Egg, already starving, began devouring their pancakes. Aunt Zhou urged them to eat slowly while mentioning that Little Mu's Father had come looking for Yezhi earlier.
